Angel’s Burritos On the Square

Do not waste your time or your money. It was a cramped, unprofessional atmosphere with sub-​par food.
This burrito shop is right on the square, so after spending 25 minutes trying to find a parking spot, we were hoping for something good since the reviews on Unilocal weren’t bad. We were way wrong and it has been the only restaurant I have left and needed to warn other people.
It is very small and cramped. I understand they’re trying to get as many people as possible in, but the chairs and tables are basically sitting on top of each other. As we’re trying to order, someone who seems to know the owner (he calls her by name) keeps interrupting us and her as we’re trying to order and tell her what we want on our meals. He proceeds to go behind the counter to pay for food she’ll fix for him later, but he was awfully close to the food and it made me nervous for the cleanliness. Although the owner was polite, this patron was loud and in the way.
Our food was not better. My husband got a burrito and said it was «okay», but the tortilla wasn’t soft or warm like you’d expect — it tasted like it was pulled out of a prepackaged bag and not warmed. Also, nothing that was offered for the burrito was new or different or tasted remotely authentic. I could’ve made the same burrito at home.
I had the nachos and imagine my surprise when she put them in the microwave! This is a no-​no for any restaurant, but to do it in front of me was shocking. The chicken I got on top tasted canned — definitely not good quality. The chips were very salty (which may be a preference for others) and nothing (guacamole, pico de gallo, lettuce) tasted fresh.
After we were done, it made sense that (other than the previously mentioned, loud patron) we were the only ones in the place.
There are PLENTY of delicious restaurants on the Square — this is NOT one of them.

CHOOSE WISELY!
My husband and I walked by this little place and were immediately taken in by the aroma. It smelled great. When you walk in, you will immediately notice that it is set up like most burrito places where you select what you want and they prepare the burrito in front of you. I didn’t really want anything heavy because I knew that I wanted to sample other businesses in the area so I ordered a soft chicken taco. I don’t usually eat tacos so I really didn’t think about what I was ordering. Tacos can be very dry and bland if they aren’t properly prepared or given a little assist. I think of tacos as little wraps but when I make my wraps, they always have grilled veggies and chicken that is well seasoned and very moist. When I add additional fresh veggies, I add a couple of shots of balsamic vinegar for extra punch.
If you take a bland shell, add bland meat and veggies guess what you get? A mouth full of bland. Unfortunately, I forgot to pack my balsamic vinegar today.
Now, if I had to re-​order the same taco, I would probably request extra chicken and I would probably add the chipotle sauce that my husband had added to his burrito as it was good and flavorful. Also, I did not like the super heavy corn chips that accompanied the taco. The taco was dry enough so the chips just made matters worse. Oh well, now I know!
I sampled my husband’s burrito and it was a much better choice. He added chicken, beans, rice, veggies, cilantro and chipotle sauce. However the cilantro was not evenly distributed and was a bit over whelming placed in just one area.
This place is very tiny and not the sort of place that you would want to take a date. It is that run in and grab a bite or pick it up quick type of place. You could actually pick up your lunch and eat it at Glover Park across the street. Seating is very limited but the staff was very nice and patient as we took our time making our selection. Just choose wisely!

Best, most fresh Taco Salad I have EVER had! Everything tastes fresh and the ladies working there are so nice, they remember you after you only go there once, and it’s a nice little ‘joint’ with good, fresh Mexican burritos, salads, nachos. I eat here at least once a week, as I work on the Square.

The only thing I can say is they have a great selection of drinks. This is like snack bar/​cafeteria/​gas station food. Stale chips, liquid movie theater cheese, and weird wet chicken. The prices were a little high for what you get. I’m a little surprised by all the five star ratings.

Just had a burrito here for lunch; prices are good and all the ingredients were fresh. Great place to grab a quick lunch on the square with hardly any wait.

If you are on the Square, this is the place to get lunch. The burritos are awesome and even one taco is filling. Warning: If you are NOT a spice head then pass on the Buffalo chicken. Tasty but hot hot hot!

This place takes me back to my California days with their Baja style burritos! Love the selection of the burrito wrap and the freshest ingredients. Salsa is pretty good too. I hit this place up maybe once a week. It’s fairly small inside, which is typical for a Baja style taco /​burrito café. There are seats inside, however, I highly recommend sitting outside just in front of the resturant under one of their umbrellas. This is a husband and wife team that own/​run this place and you will love them! Also served here is ice cold beer… I would say a perfect fat burrito along with an ice cold beer, may be just what’s in order for a Saturday afternoon on the Square. Go find this little gem — you won’t be disappointed!

Excellent service from nice southern women. I had the beef burrito which was very good and my girlfriend had the buffalo chicken burrito (not on the menu but definitely worth a try) and it was also very good. The salsa is spot on and if you like spicy the hot will be pleasing.
