if this place were to be summed up into 1 word, it would be: OVERRATED. this place has so many awards, recognitions, and trophies that make no sense to me. FOOD: when you try their food, you’ll understand where I’m coming from. their meat isn’t «fall off the bone» quality or isn’t as tender or smokey as other bbq joints. on some days, the meat will be super dry. the only good thing about this place is their bbq sauces. they have 3 bases for their sauces: tomato, vinegar, and something else that I can’t remember. they offer a bulk menu, which you can order by the pound w/side items. then there’s lunch specials and individual orders such as sandwiches, ribs, hot dogs, wings, desserts, etc. WHAT I ORDER: I usually get the«barbeque places», which are their versions of a combo meal. you can pick any of their bbq meats + 2 sides, texas toast and pickles. I also sometimes get the sandwich by itself, which is under their«bbq sandwiches» sections. from both sections, I just stick to their beef brisket. when ordering sides, I get the fried okras and sweet potato tots. nothing special when it comes to their sides. they tend to be hit & misses. the okras sometimes come out overly fried and sometimes just right. no special flavoring tho. as for the sweet potato tots, they’re circular shaped tater tots that are made of sweet potato, no special seasoning on top but sometimes they can be very sweet. as for the beef brisket, this is where my problem w/dryness comes about. I wish the meat was more moist, but it’s sadly not. what I do is drown the meat in bbq sauce; it helps.somewhat. SERVICE: no table service. you order your food and seat yourself. napkins and sauces are already provided on the table. no tipping necessary. like the others said tho, this isn’t exactly the dine-in type of place(even tho they offer it), it’s best if you take your order as a carry out. LOCATION: in the same shopping center as the marietta antique store and right of salon zahra.

BBQ-1 is just a take out place. I found the food to be good but over priced. I ordered a slab of ribs and a pound of pork with a couple of sides for $ 53. It did not include any bread which, when I looked, was priced at $.25/rbun. I asked to speak to the owner who was cordial but inflexible. He told me that it cost money to make texas toast and that if I wanted a roll or texas toast then I needed to pay for it. I told him I felt this was a rip-off and he said«That’s the way we charge.» $ 53 and he wouldn’t include a couple of hamburger buns. I’ll never go back. The food is just as good and the service is 10x better at Williams Brothers. At least they always are excited to see a customer walk in the door. This owner whose name is Sam should run a kitchen but should not be allowed to be customer facing.

BBQ1 Has gotten rave reviews from a lot of local foodies, but I happen to prefer Williamson Brothers if I’m out in Marietta. That being said, this is a solid pick for a quick lunch or takeout for dinner. This place is mostly take out — there’s only 1 table inside and 2 large, plastic picnic tables outside. Line up and order at the counter, no table service. You’ll be served in takeout containers with plastic silverware whether you’re eating in or not. The BBQ is good quality and the prices are great. I’ve enjoyed the pulled pork on a few occasions and the mac’ and cheese is warm and gooey, though I’d prefer a different type of noodles in it. It’s definitely worth stopping in — especially since many people I know consider it the best in the area.
