This location is closed since mid Feburary! I loved Dickey’s. Although this location could have used a deep cleaning, but some of the best places out there are the dingy hole-in-the-walls.

Out of all of the locations this one was the not as clean and had poor ventilation, however since it was the closest I stopped by today to get a $ 1 slider fix before the promotion ends only to find that it has closed. Dickey’s Barbecue Pit Has Closed Its Location In Sandy Springs February 25th, 2016 Source: TNTA Dickey’s Barbecue Pit has closed its location in Sandy Springs at Abernathy Square shopping center. The Dallas, Texas-based barbecue franchise still has a dozen locations in Georgia including restaurants in Alpharetta, Kennesaw and Peachtree City.

Good place for quick BBQ at a fair place. They always give you plenty. Good fresh sides. Free ice cream. Great sweet tea. Friendly employees. Restrooms and parking lot always clean. Store clean and usually no dirty tables sitting around. What more could a person ask for?

I feel like I should have listened and read the reviews a little more carefully. For the record, it was not my idea to go here… My boyfriend suggested it while we were waiting for my tires to get replaced at Pep Boys. The food actually isn’t that bad, not the best, but not that bad. The lack of clean/tidiness was an serious issue. Everything about that establishment makes me feel like I should go home and take several showers. Floors are disgraceful, and the tables are sticky, wobbly, suggestively dirty in other areas. Even behind the counter where the waitstaff works had many troubling concerns. The bathrooms were completely and utterly shameful. Definitely had not been cleaned in a while and the odder and smell was a struggle. What was really sketchy is the fact that after we were done with my meal, and leaving they locked the doors because they said the system had gone down. The waitstaff themselves were very interesting and suggestive, I don’t know what’s going on over there but I was surprised I didn’t get sick from the food or that we didn’t experience anything else more serious.

This is the first Barbeque place that I have visited that did not have sweet potato casserole or some variation of sweet potato goodness. The bread was a small roll and not the typical hamburger buns. The Barbeque beans had a terrible flavor and taste. I had to add some of the house sauces to make eating the beans bearable. Nice atmosphere and very clean. The prices were a little high for barbeque. The staff was friendly. I will give them another chance and visit them in a week or two..

HEALTHINSPECTOR, COMEON, CHECKTHISPLACE! The food was not hot, which concerns me from a health/food safety standpoint. When cutting the meat, I did not see any cleaning before laying the meet on the board nor the scale, another health/food safety concern. They were not able to fry any food. The barbeque sauce warmer was off and had some old dried up sauce in the container. Asked for some sauce and they dumped some in the container without cleaning it. This is another health/food safety concern. The restaurant was very nasty looking.

Out of most sides, food that was served was burned(nuggets, bread) and poor customer service. Such a waste of time and money. Avoid.

The main reason I come to this restaurant is because it’s never busy in the evening, which makes it a good place for my bible study group to meet without being disturbed or disturbing others. The food is extremely over-priced for the poor quality. Only the daily special is somewhat a good deal but the food still lacks quality, definitely in a city with many very good barbecue joints. The free ice cream also has a weird taste. If you have choice on where to eat, go somewhere else.

You can find this location of Dickey’s Barbecue Pit at 6631 Roswell Rd NE Ste J, Sandy Springs, GA30328 in Abernathy Square Publix Shopping Center right at the intersection of Abernathy Rd and Roswell Rd, North of the perimeter. This is a very busy shopping center with several other food options including Ippolito’s Italian, Mirage Persian, Bawarchi Biryani Pointe, and the Publix anchor store. Parking is very busy so you may have to walk a bit from your space. Access to and exit from the lot can be a bit difficult depending on your direction of travel so be careful. Dickey’s is a national chain with several locations across Atlanta. There’s some exterior seating but I think of it more as overflow rather than a location to enjoy your lunch outdoors — the view is of a parking lot. Dickey’s interior is no-nonsense with a scattering of tables and typical western-style BBQ-joint décor — not really a date destination(at least with anyone you care about), it’s much more of a lunch-line type place. At Dickey’s you order at the counter from a menu posted above the counter. Depending on what you ordered you may have it in hand before paying at the register before seating, otherwise you may have to pick it up post payment. The line can become quite long take my advice and go elsewhere if it’s extends to the entry. I thought the BBQ above average here with plenty of smokiness and rind. The meats were not dry and the sauce is above average for this type of place. If you’re from Atlanta, I’d rate this above the typical Sonny’s but below Slope’s. Portions seemed slightly small and the overall food appearance a bit sloppy. The chicken, brisket and pork ribs were all very good. I selected the green beans(quite good and meaty) and the Brunswick Stew which I thought above average with a cup for ice water. Food is served on paper in baskets with sides in small paper containers. They also provide free soft-serve ice cream for dessert but I didn’t try it. Since you order at the counter, service is relatively non-existent as the intent is to get you your food as quickly as possible and through the line. On the day I visited they guy running the place was short-handed and trying to juggle many things at once. I really felt for him and what he was going through — somehow he remained cheerful and exuded great personality. The only negative was the big mass of unkempt hair and the overall messiness of the food line. Looking at the inserts holding sides was not a pretty thing to behold — many of the sides appearing hammered from being too long in the hot table. So overall, I liked the food and sauce. I thought the service poor but that may have been due to the lack of staff(and the guy behind the counter apologized) so I’m neutral there. I was a bit disappointed in the overall appearance behind the counter — maybe I’m being picky buy I know many who would walk out on seeing what I saw, but once again it may have been due to the location being shore on staff.

My husband and I love Dickey’s! We eat there all the time. I give this particular location 1 star though because of horrible, horrible service we received. We did not feel like we were welcomed there at all and got out before we were finished eating. The staff stared us down the entire time we ate and criticized the way we parented our daughter. They didn’t give us the ½ lb of meat we ordered either. We will never return to this location again

I saw a roach crawling on the area where the sides were kept. I immediately lost my appetite.

I had lunch at this particular location today and although the food was tasty, it really didn’t leave me wanting to return. My food was barely warm and the restaurant wasn’t very clean.

When we are hungry this is where we go. I always get pork barbecue abs polish sausage. My husband gets 3 meats plate ribs, brisket and polish sausage. Their servings are plentiful and tasty. The service is quick and pleasant. One of our go to cheap dinner spots. $ 25 for the 2 of us. Did I mention they have free ice cream and cones.

Closest BBQ place to my house but I was disappointed and won’t be back. We had a party of three for late lunch. The place was pretty empty. We ordered pork plates. The woman behind the counter said she would try to get us some good pork pulled off, which I appreciated. One of us ended up with 90% fat. The main problem was the salt. Whoa. None of us three could eat our food– someone in the kitchen used the salt with such a heavy hand the food was inedible. I think the pork was tender but I didn’t eat more than two bites.

The Family Pack is a rip off at $ 40. It says it feeds 4 – 6 people. Two 1 lb meat selections comes to 7 ribs and two handfuls of pork. Three side items and biscuits to fill you up with cheap stuff. I’m pretty sure I could eat this by myself. I’m glad I used a gift certificate, because it’s not worth full price.

Since I’ve lived in Sandy Springs, most of the businesses here have failed. I think this one is also on it’s way out. However this time it’s going to be the staff that will undo it. Twice Ive been there and it seems the staff is more interested in their conversations than taking an order. This time I was inside, while the staff chit chatted away for a good 5 minutes outside. All that only to have someone come in and tell me what I wanted had run out. Hurry up and shut down and bring a business that wants to be there.

Being a Southerner I’m always looking for b.b.q. and have tried this place out on several different occasions and can’t give it more than three stars, sorry guys. Really enjoy the fried okra the pieces are big and is a big side the mac n cheez is average. Four things are very important in good b.b.q. flavor, texture, moisture and consistency. This place seems like they want to get right but keeps missing on all of these points and while I love that they have free giant pickles and soft serve cones that won’t keep me coming back if the meats not right.
