If I could give this place less than one star I would. I’ve tried this place on two separate occasions and both times came out with mediocre-at-best, half burned coffee and a headache from the owner who fancies himself gods gift to the underserved alt community of Marietta. I enjoy the coffee shops I do because the employees are nice, the coffee is good, and the community fostered in those environments is welcoming and open. This shop is only that if you fit into an archetype the shop owner can understand. The patrons follow suit and the result is being insulted multiple times while waiting the 10 minutes it takes to make a single cup of coffee by an owner/barista who assumes everyone who walks through his doors submits to the exact world view he does. Not to mention the shop is run down with holes in the ceilings and surge protectors haphazardly placed about the shop. I generally don’t review places I don’t like but I’ve been so offended on both occasions I’ve visited, I had to warn people to STEERCLEAR!!!

Though this place is a bit different from your usual coffee joint, it is everything needed for what they were aiming for. A dream to open a café that has doors open for the hard worker that just wants a place to kick back and play or rest. Every week is something new and interesting going on there and the staff had an attentive ear to the desires of their customers of what can make it even more fun and interesting. This is a great place to stay in-the-know of fandoms, latest game info, and a place to recline with a good comic or book with a uniquely blended drink from the kitchen. The seasonal drinks(such as their apple pie milkshake) are always a treat with great care when they are made. They have recently added meals as well. The special sauce that Luke(the owner) puts on his cheeseburgers is delicious! I have to say this is a very well-established place for their size. It is always very friendly and fun to play all sorts of games(not JUST video games) and socialize. I for sure recommend this place to all friends that would appreciate it, from their roasts to their cozy«second play room» atmosphere.

The staff is certainly friendly. The coffee is roasted in store and tastes good. Their selection of coffees is narrow and the atmosphere is junkyard. If they got an amateur decorator to replace the torn up, mismatched, dirty furniture and straightened up the clutter, their business would most likely boom. I love their business concept, but I can’t stand to set foot inside their messy shoppe.

This place is as geeky as it gets. It’s right next to Dr. No’s and has a cornucopia of stuff to do. They have an arcade cabinet, board games, a Wii U for Smash friendlies as well as a projector to watch stuff on. The coffee is the best in Georgia by far and is always amazing. They do daily events every week alongside monthly events such as a Smash tournament or programming workshop. 10⁄10 Would become one with the cosmos to get here.

Cool Hands is just the COOLEST! I love this place! I remember stumbling upon it when making my usual rounds to Dr No’s Comics. Right when I walked in I felt at home! Luke & Ashley are the nicest people ever, and the coffee is soooo deliciously amazing! There’s always something new, fun & geeky going on! The Video Game Tournaments are fun and I love the Trivia Nights! They are a welcoming crowd, and every time I go I make a new friend! Definitely the corner coffee shop I’ll be a regular at! It’s also close by to cool places like Dr. No’s Comics and Mysteria Antiques & Oddities. Simply the best! 10 million stars! :)

Awesome place with perfect coffee! Had loads of fun doing trivia. Owners are super cool, and have built up a very inviting and friendly environment. Certainly worth checking out for the coffee and staying for the company!

I ran a private gaming event for ten guests at Cool Hands. Cool Hands is exactly what gamers need to come out of their shells, because it is easy to talk about niche topics. Regulars listened intently when I rambled on about interfacing NeuroSkys and Emotivs to Arduinos. In return I learned a lot about the value of woodworking, driver development on the Raspberry Pi, inventory management in chemical manufacturing, and the difference between standardized education and education that actually works. These were not just pop-culture geeks, these were genuine nerds with a passion for life, invention and creativity. Cool Hands has a strong community because anyone who demanded special attention had absolutely no room to co-opt the powerful culture developing in the shop. The manager, his wife, and his regulars went to the trouble of setting up a live stream for our amateur Super Smash Bros tournament – without charge – and brought in professional players to flesh out the competition while willingly denying any winnings. If that weren’t enough, they all stayed up until 3AM with us(two hours beyond the shop’s intended closing time) to talk to our guests. I have never seen a staff work so hard to make sure everything goes so right.

This is a craft coffee shop meaning they know what they’re doing. Beans are light roasted so you can Taste the fruity nuances and Espressos are extracted correctly and don’t taste burnt like most places. This is by far the best espresso I’ve tried in the Atlanta area. Hipster place owned by a young couple, highly recommended.

Excellent, high-quality coffee shop — the kind of place where you can order a cappuccino and actually get a cappuccino, not a latte. The espresso shots are perfectly pulled and the owners are incredibly personal and nice. The atmosphere of this place is what really sets it apart — the«interior décor» is somewhat lacking, but regardless of that, there is a friendliness to the shop that makes it more like you’re sitting in a friend’s living room than in a coffee shop. The patrons socialize among each other and the owners, and you leave with new friends and a desire to return.

Yay — an actual independent and high quality coffee roaster and shop in a strip center that has chance to come back now that wal-mart is selling groceries at the other end. The synergy with the comics store next door is bananas already — makes me want to open up a taco shop in one of the many for lease spots in the center. The drinks I’ve had have been spot on – not too much milk or foam and the beans are fantastic. Had me me flashing to cozy little beaneries in San Fran.

My friend and I decided to try out Cool Hands when we realized we wanted to coffee-it up longer than the Starbucks 9pm kick you out time. I am very glad we did! While the décor is a work in progress(reminding me of a cross between an early 90’s coffee shop and an unemployed friend’s house) the coffee is excellent and the owners casual and chatty. This is definitely a place you come to when you are in the mood to discuss gaming to geeking and everything in between. Don’t expect to hide in a corner here. The small community feel will carry over well with many people, turning them into comfortable regulars in this homey atmosphere. My one suggestion would be to crank up the heat a bit, but they do provide little space heaters which I found myself cuddling up with in my lap.
