Wow, the good old days must be gone. Years ago you were guaranteed to get a good sizable delicious meal. Today and for the second time in a row the roasted chicken dinner was the size of Squab and dry. Please find a new source for your chicken and get back to the good old days of GREAT meals and service! Sincerely long time resident

Today I took my grandmother to dine at Gabriel’s since«The Fruit Stand» restaurant that used to be across the street had closed down(she was not aware). This was my first visit and her 2nd. She couldn’t remember why she didn’t return. The young lady that took our order, Maddy, became frustrated when my grandmother decided to change her meal order. She spoke very disrespectful, rude, and very dismissive. When I asked her to watch her tone, she gave a blank stare. Before we could sign our debut receipt, she was calling for the next customer. My grandmother recited her meal timely, but my meal was received about 30 min later. I asked for the manager because my grandmother was so upset, but needed to eat(otherwise we would’ve left immediately). Management listened, but didn’t seem to show too much concern. Still waiting on my food, my grandmother asked for Jonnie Gabriel. She came and we told her the issue. She offered an apology, but didn’t seem concerned and I explained that my food still hadn’t arrived while 4 ppl behind us had already received their meal. She was dismissive as well. We will never return. I don’t know how well the food tasted because we were both so disgusted by the customer service from everyone, except Larissa, that we couldn’t enjoy the mral. Neither of us finished our meal, but we informed the owner and management that we would never return. Jonnie Gabriel said that she didn’t see a need for the girl at the counter to apologize to my elderly grandmother on a walker for her behavior because she apologized to Jonnie. Jonnie actually told us that her apologies to us was sufficient, on behalf of Maddie. She has lost many customers for life because I oversee an organization that takes elder clients on outings and they have gone twice. They will not return and everyone we know will learn of this disappointing experience. Larissa was the only one in that restaurant that genuinely apologized and owned responsibility for our treatment. Larissa is the reason for 1 star today. She was my grandmother’s silver lining surrounding a very dark cloud.

Been waiting 25 minutes for a two sandwich to go order placed 1 hour ago. Never been impressed with this place service or food

I have to say I’m a little disappointed. The atmosphere was laid back and the people were nice, but the cakes themselves. … tasteless. The red velvet is like food coloring and canola oil. On the other hand the cream cheese frosting was the best I’ve ever had. Their yellow cupcake was dry and the buttercream frosting was not buttery, and was really hard. My first impression overall… meh

I am REALLY disappointed in this place. I have a family event today and I wanted to bring a dessert. I knew I’d be super busy later this week and spending a great deal of Saturday from 6AM to noon medicating cats so the best option would be to pick something up rather than make it. I called Gabriel’s on Friday and SPECIFICALLY asked if their whole poundcakes were available to walk in and buy or if I needed to order them. The woman on the other end assured me that no, no special order was needed. I then DOUBLE checked, asking her if that meant that if I came in the next day that I’d be able to pick up two whole poundcakes without ordering ahead. She assured me that was the case. Great, right? I got off my shift and drove over. I walked in and they were not busy at all. Yet, employees were standing around and I was completely ignored. I stood there right by one woman behind the counter who paid no attention to me at all. She went on doing whatever she was doing but she was not with a customer. Finally I got someone’s eye and she came over. I told her what I wanted(2 poundcakes) and she then began telling me that only individual pieces were available unless I ORDEREDAHEADOFTIME. I told her I was told something entirely different when I specifically called to ask about that yesterday and she just shrugged and said, «sorry.» If the woman yesterday had given me the correct info(or if she didn’t know, put me on hold to find out), then my day today would be very different. Instead, I’m stuck trying to figure out an alternate plan and I will never set foot in here again not only due to the lack of proper information but also the crappy service. It’s not a good idea to ignore your customers and make them stand around for 7 – 8 minutes when they’re trying to give you money. I guess because it’s Paula Deen’s cousin she thinks she doesn’t have to try? Whatever, they won’t be getting my business.

My meal was great — loved the salmon cakes, and the Mac and cheese is fabulous. However, when I went to purchase the last chocolate mousse cake, the girl behind the counter scraped the cake on the glass and lightbulb, then dropped it inside the case. It wouldn’t have been a big deal, accidents happen and I can try the cake some other time. She asked me if I still wanted the cake, which, of course, I didn’t(she dropped it! And who knows the last time the glass was really cleaned. So uh… no thanks), she then proceeded to put it back in the case to sell to someone else! Probably frowned upon by a health inspector, is my guess…

This place is a prime choice for lunch. The portions are huge and the desserts are good as well. I have sandwiches and meals from here and I have never been disappointed. I enjoy the atmosphere and the customer service is great.

We walked in to grab a piece of cake to go. They had a bunch sitting in containers on the top of the display case. Before we could even see what was available, the lady behind the counter said, «we’re closed.» You can see why I’m confused seeing as we walked in the unlocked door. You have cake. I have money and would like cake. We are standing 2 feet from each other. This seems like a simple transaction. Why didn’t this deal go down? I hope everyone that eats here tomorrow enjoys their day old cake!

The best place to eat in Marietta. Not to mention the amazing desert selections. We are so lucky Johnnie blesses us with her food and grace each day. Also, the best wedding cakes ever! Trust me!

Y’all. If you need a cake, go here. Johnnie Gabriel is the real deal. She made my wedding cake back in 2009, and it was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. In fact, I order a small version of the cake every year for our anniversary!(Incase you’re wondering, it’s a lemon pound cake with raspberry filling and vanilla buttercream frosting… my mouth is watering just thinking about it). We’ve also had her make birthday cakes for us and everyone always loves them. It’s hard for me to go in there and not get a lemon square or two. She specializes in traditional, old-school, southern style cakes. Yum!

Fantastic. This is the only location to visit. Forget the Acworth location. Its a joke. Go to this location and save 30% by not having to tip, the food is cheaper and its better. I hope that boondoggle in Acworth doesn’t cost them too much and the have to close.

I’ve been there several times. The first time I had a sandwich and chips. Nothing spectacular or anymore delicious than I could get at Publix. The other times, I indulged in the desserts. I think that is why people go! I had a piece of the humming bird cake. I have never heard of it before and I’m so glad I tried it. It was delicious! The chicken and dumplings were also a good choice. Dumplings were filling.

I’ve experienced Gabriel’s two times. The first was when my mom ordered a cake for my birthday. I do not recall the name of the cake but it was a chocolate one, and I have to say I thought it was absolutely delicious. If you don’t have a tolerance for really sweet things, then just don’t come here and knock them for sweetness because that’s on you for not having a sweet-tooth. I have been baking all my life, and my mother was a professional. We have a lot, and I mean a lot, of experience with desserts. I really liked the cake, and I’m sure it was a little better than the slices and cupcakes they have at the store because it was a special order, and cake, regardless of how good, will dry out in a cooling case, it’s just how things work. But I went again today to try other things, so I tried a lemon square, the fruit tart, and the strawberry lady. I have to say the strawberry lady didn’t impress me. It didn’t have much flavor. But the fruit tart was delicious, and the lemon square was pretty good too. I will continue to come back and try more.

Oh Boy!!! This place just warmed my heart(literally, I drank my coffee to fast –lol) I came here one morning for a late breakfast and Gabriel’s did not disappoint. I was served up a huge breakfast plate that included 2 scrambled eggs, my choice of bacon, sausage or ham and I chose bacon(you can never go wrong with bacon), toast or biscuit and grits. I ordered a coffee to drink, Laura was nice enough to offer a to go cup just in case I was taking it with me. Now, back to these grits… Lol, I notice they looked a little different from the normal, right before I was about to poor on the salt, pepper and butter, I asked Laura about them, she suggested I taste them first, so I did… They were already yummy, different, but yummy. They use some kind of cream in them and it made them light and very creamy. I’m actually going to try it the next time I make grits. Gabriel’s offers everything from deli sandwiches to gourmets special occasion cakes. I literally had to rush out of there right after breakfast to keep from buying a dessert, the muffins were calling my name. The staff was very polite, I was checked on twice and given a to go box so that I could enjoy my biscuit later. I truly had a great experience at Gabriel’s, I can’t wait to bring my son here for dessert. All Smile here!!!

Better have patience, long wait. Below average deli food, nothing special. Very salty fries, overly sweet desserts. Not going back. Very nice employees though

Everyone always talks about Gabriel’s delicious desserts, so we were in the area and thought we’d stop in. I’ll start off by saying I’m not sure what the hype is about. I had the southwest chicken soup, which was full of dark meat chicken, black beans, corn, and a few tomatoes. Very bland flavoring, combined with the fact that I’m not a huge dark meat chicken fan, means it was not a win. I also had fried okra which started off good until I got towards the bottom and my dish was literally swimming in grease/oil. Now I know how FRIED okra is cooked, but I don’t want them soggy and dripping… and all the ones towards the bottom were. I tried some of my husbands meatloaf, which was also disappointing. While the flavor wasn’t terrible, it was very dry. According to him, his sides were just average(green beans, mashed potatoes, cornbread). Now, I was extremely disappointed and looked around at the food of others. Someone had mac and cheese, so I went to order a side of that. It was fantastic! I let my husband go pick out dessert, and he came back with a chocolate cupcake with cream cheese frosting and an M&M cookie. Not necessarily the fanciest, most sophisticated choices, but I’d read good reviews on Unilocal about their cupcakes. Well, I was extremely disappointed once again. The icing was fine, but the chocolate cupcake was the driest cupcake I’ve ever eaten. The M&M cookie wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t come to Gabriel’s again just for mac and cheese and the M&M cookie.

Such a nice place. I have eaten from here before, but I can honestly say going here will open your eyes. They have so much to offer, it’s not just deserts. Everything I have had from here is delicious, filling, and it’s really not expensive like I think it would be. I highly recommend trying some of the sweets, that is what they are known for and they deliver! But if your sweet tooth isn’t feeling it, that’s is okay too. They offer breakfast menu items from eggs, toast, bacon, to dinner items like steak, etc. One thin I like about this place is that they have seasonal stuff. Go up there during Easter and Christmas and you won’t be disappointed with the food options that will be laid out before you. A word of advice, this place can get packed quick, so if you are in a rush this probably isn’t the place for you especially during a lunch time gathering, but if you are looking for great food at an affordable price that will set your taste buds down a trip of magical deliverance, this is that place.

Had a late lunch there the other day. I had salmon patties over grits. Delicious! Husband had fish and chips which he said was also yummy.
