I dropped by randomly on a Saturday. It was an hour before closing and there was not one person inside. They guy at the counter greeted me and helped me make a decision. I ended up choosing curry chicken, cabbage, and rice and beans. He told me that his wife is from Jamaica and she is the one who does all of the cooking. Nice! So I knew this would be authentic, real deal stuff. I should have gotten a pattie, next time. This was a really good dish. Everything was delicious and blended well together. The chicken was tender, falling off the bone and seasoned well. The cabbage was juicy, moist, and had a little crunch. The rice and beans were very good! I could tell this meal had simmered for a while. All of the flavors were present. This was not a rush job. All of this for $ 9, I’ll be back with my West Indian friends!

I would have given a 5 cause the food was excellent but health score wasn’t posted! And their to go containers need to be replaced, the tabs are horrible. The food is great tasting and the portion is enough to last for dinner also. And they have collards! Jerk is as spicy as I like too.

I’m sorry but this food is simply mediocre at best. I tried the oxtails(overly fatty, I guess to fill the plates and make it seem that the 4 pieces they give you is a serving), jerk ribs, jerk chicken and goat and it was all BORING, no flavor. The cabbage was rock hard(no flavor) and the plantains were not good. I was extremely disappointed because I drove a long way to try this food. The owners are absolutely delightful and that was the only good memory of this restaurant.

I’m not easily impressed but this place really impressed me. I walked in and got service with a smile. What??? I didn’t think that was possible. I’ve never received that in a Jamaican restaurant. I ordered the ox tails, rice and peas with the cabbage. Seemed as soon as I sat down the lady was bringing my food to me. Easily the best ox tails I’ve had in Cobb. I’d go as far as to say Atlanta. I finally have a good Jamaican spot to go to in Cobb county. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

The oxtails were THE best jamaican dish i have had in a long time. The meat was so tender and juicy literally falling off of the bone. The rice and peas were awesome. The service was very friendly. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. Eventhough we live in Lawrenceville we are happy to make the trip to Marietta. We will definitely be back!

Amazing food! The girls were so nice to and helped me pick a meal. I got jerk chicken(spicy and great flavor), cabbage(best ever), plantains(yum), and rice. It’s a lot of food and great taste. I will be back. Glad I found this place.

I feel bad for giving this place such a low review but I was not really impressed. A girlfriend raved about this place so I decided to give them a try. I’ve been looking for a local Caribbean joint since I no longer live close to my favourite Jamaican restaurant Sassy’s(in Henry Co.). I got the Curry Goat with greens and white rice, and my parents both got oxtails with cabbage and white rice. The goat was just ok… kind of bland. Collards weren’t bad but definitely not grandma’s. My parents said the oxtail wasn’t bad either but their cabbage was hard as a rock! Really disappointed, but maybe it was just an off day for them.

A place that deserves more love on Unilocal! This place epitomizes what Unilocal was created for — to help local, deserving restaurants get the word out about their food, to drive traffic towards them. Without Unilocal, places like this may get a small write-up in a county paper, then try their best to avoid fading into obscurity. Since the restaurant business is extremely competitive and a true testament to the entrepreneurial spirit, I’m making it a point to say all this. Now, time to get off the soapbox. About this restaurant… It is among the best Caribbean food in the metro. Yes, you heard me correctly. Even though its a bit of a hole in the wall, don’t let the looks fool you! Ms. Paulee, who is of Haitian descent, prepares the food from the kitchen(with help of course) in the back, so quality control is pretty high. Monday-Fridays, at lunch, one gets a choice of Jerk Chicken, Curry Chicken, or Stewed Chicken, along with Rice/Beans, and a choice of Stewed Cabbage, Collard Greens, or Plantains. You get all this, along with a drink, for roughly $ 7 – 8. I’ve had all the chicken dishes at various times. They are slow-cooked, to allow flavor to sink in, and the meat slides right off the bone. Every time. She’s got it down to a science. The rice and beans are always well-cooked(another sign of a good Caribbean restaurant — I don’t know how many times I’ve been to places with dry rice and bony, lower-end chicken). If requested, extra gravy will be ladled onto your rice. The cabbage and greens are also very good, but I’d recommend coming at lunch since they are fresher at that time. Whenever I’m in the mood for island food at lunch in the Cobb area, its always a tough choice between here and Tassa Roti Shop(on Powers Ferry). Now go support this place!

If you’re a fan of flavor/some spice along with some friendly service you’re in the right spot. I stop here for lunch fairly regularly and highly recommend the jerk chicken or curry chicken.

Looked around for authentic food and this spot is IT! The ladies here are nice and the food is GREAT! Got the jerk chicken, plantains and rice and beans. Came with a soda or drink for $ 6.95 for lunch! Just can’t beat it… will be back and try everything on the menu!

It’s a nice place! It was my first time ever eating oxtail, so I was in for an experience. The food was pretty good, but nothing over the top. You’ll enjoy this place!

Amazing, quality Jamaican cuisine here. Plenty of food per order! Also, when you order, don’t look at the menu, instead, ask what’s ready as there are times certain menu items aren’t done. What I love is that the meat is full pieces, not chopped up pieces that other Caribbean restaurants may do to maximize portions. A must visit!

Very authentic Caribbean meals. Kind of a hole in the wall but the food is amazing. I’ve tried the jerk chicken, curry goat and also the ox tail. Haven’t been disappointed yet. Price is reasonable

So good! I stumbled upon this gem by accident and I’m so glad I did. The owner was welcoming and warm from the moment I stepped in the place. He gave us samples and you can tell he cares about his food and it showed!!! I got the oxtails and was in heaven. My friend got the jerk sampler and raved. The fresh mango juice topped it off and the music was great! Upbeat and fun but not too loud. I’ll be back!

I have to say that the atmosphere was laid back. Customer service was good. I tried their lunch special curry chicken, rice\beans and cabbage. To be honest, I was expecting more based on the reviews. More in terms of flavor. I have grown to love this cuisine because of the heavy spices used. I found that it lacked that punch I was looking forward to, however if you like light spice\flavor this is for you.

Tucked into a strip mall with a falafel joint, scuba store, and massage parlor, is my new favorite Caribbean place… Paulee’s. Looking over the menu, my eyes were immediately drawn to the Jerk Chicken, so that’s what I went with my first time in. Ms. Paulee warned me going into it that her jerk was good… but very spicy… and my plate lived up to the hype. Large portion, served with rice & peas, and either cabbage, plantains, or collards. The chicken is bone-in dark meat, stewed to the point that you can pull it off the bone with a plastic fork… yep, I’m sold! Spicy enough to make you sweat, and a large enough portion to either share some, or save for a snack later. They also offer oxtails which are consistently excellent, stewed chicken, curry chicken or goat, griot, and tilapia. Usually, I opt for the sampler platter with jerk chicken/oxtails/jerk ribs, because I can’t seem to decide on just one thing. Everything here’s homemade/fresh/authentic, and even though I like Rodney’s, I’ll drive the few extra minutes to get my Caribbean food fix at Paulee’s.

This is a small place off of 41. You can’t even see the sign from the road. You have to look for the Waffle House or Falafel Café and go into the shopping center. When you walk in, everything looks basic. It gives an authentic atmosphere. The lady here is sweet and talks in an accent. They have lunch specials for the chicken dishes(curry, jerk, etc.). It comes with beans and rice. For about $ 6, it’s a lot of food. I tried their oxtail. It also came with beans, rice, and cabbages. I don’t know what they did the to cabbages and the rice, but they tasted great. It seemed like they poured some of the oxtail stew broth all over the rice and cabbage. The flavors permeated into the rice and made it taste good. The oxtails themselves were good. I liked it. The flavors were subtle but comforting. It was a solid dish. I tried some of their jerk chicken. She kept warning us that the jerk chicken is spicy. And it was spicy. I liked the flavor and the heat. Also, they cooked it right because the meat was falling off of the bone. The chicken still had the dry texture though. But I enjoyed it. I think Paulee’s is a great Caribbean restaurant in Marietta, It’s one of the better ones I’ve been to. I need to come back and try their Griot.
