I went to Tassa yesterday during my lunch break and was my second going for 2016. I had the buffet with stewed chicken, chicken curry, red beans & rice, cabbage and Mac & cheese! As I began to eat the cabbage there was a «table napkin» inside the cabbage! Disgusting!!! From that point I immediately took it out of my food and gave to the hostess at the counter! She apologized and removed the whole container of cabbage on display! I was finished with lunch being grossed out! When I got to the counter to pay for my lunch they did not charge me. However they charged me $ 1.89 for my drink. I paid it and left… will I go back no one knows not even me?!

I have been here twice now with my office crew. The food is always up to par and tasty. They have an 8.99 buffet of curry and other Trinidad delights :-) will deff come back for more lunches

Finally a Caribbean restaurant for my favorite list! I truly love coming to this restaurant. Don’t drive to fast or you’ll miss it. On every visit i go for the buffet. The price is wonderful for the amount of food that you can plate, plus there’s a great selection. The food used to be way more spicy than it is now, that’s the only thing that I hate that they’ve changed. True authentic Trinidadian cuisine. The restaurant is small but clean, music is just right, and the staff is friendly. Plus one of the owners are usually there to greet you. A very good family owned business that I would recommend any day!

Tiny, tiny place that is oh so welcoming to big bellies. Or maybe just big appetites. I admit the $ 9 buffet was the draw for me as it allows you to mix and match and find your comfort zone with exotic dishes. And the promises of plenty of fiery scotch bonnet didn’t hurt either. What is nice is that the buffet dishes themselves are not that spicy, even the jerk chicken, which is by far the best option of the three chicken dishes. The key is application of the three sauces, including one that is pretty much straight minced scotch bonnet. Wow. For the me the Goldilocks move was plenty of the«middle» sauce — which was cukes and scotch bonnet minced together — along with dabs of the sweet tamarind sauce. This worked well with the jerk chicken and the callaloo all mashed up, the callaloo being deep green veg stew made with, I gather, okra — and I love okra. Of course, throw in some rice(with or without lentils) to soak up the juices and it is party. A bit of spongy roti to sop the end bits, done. Two big plates were plenty filling for lunch and I don’t think I ate for the rest of the day. Maybe slowing down. One thing to be aware of, and as all the signs in the building warning about choking hazards and what to do suggest, is that the very rustic prep of the meats — basically just hacked up and thrown in a pot(yum) — means a lot of bones. Just go slow, as you should any way to enjoy the deep flavors, and you’ll be fine.

Disclaimer: This is a review from a vegetarian Green beans: Great. Cooked right, neither under nor over. Spiced well Macaroni pie: Good Tasty but dry Red beans: Good Curry potatoes & chick peas: Good Callaloo: Bad The body of this dish is okra(think chopped spinach cooked in ground okra), which makes it more slimy than creamy. I could not tell there is coconut milk. Maybe this is how it is cooked traditionally, I am not sure. If you are not from Trinidad, go for it if you like/can-handle okra’s sliminess. Sweet corn coo coo: Good Mildly sweet. I ate it as a dessert. Roti: OK Taste is ok Presentation is not something I prefer. But then, this is how 50% of googled«buss up shut» images looked like. Roti pieces or sherds with no beginning and end. The Roti is not truly flaky, but is ripped apart to give the flaky look. Overall, the food is OK. Ambience is small, friendly, busy I would not go back.

I stopped by here on a whim after church. It was better than whatever I was expecting. I did two to-go plates for me and a friend I was meeting and also so that we could try everything. For two take away containers and a 15% tip, the meal came out to $ 20 which after eating I deemed a great deal. At first I was disappointed the buffet only offered chicken(unless I was supposed to ask someone for the other options) but there was no need for feeling like I got the short end the stick. Between the wonderful rice, delicious cabbage, roti, whatever amazing chicken curry that was, and the Mac n cheese, I was in love. It’s not mind blowing, but on a rainy wet November day, it was delicious and soul warming and perfect. I will definitely be going back.

Get the veggie roti. Actual veggies and not just potato and channa. I’ve been coming here for 6 years. They never disappoint.

I should mention that getting into the establishments parking lot is kind of scary. The OUT/IN entrance is the same. So be careful when pulling into the parking lot and leaving because if another car is coming, you’re screwed!

I was searching for a restaurant that was vegetarian friendly on my way home from a trip to North Georgia. I saw the Unilocal reviews and figured I would give it a try. It was everything other Unilocalers had mentioned and more! Food was fresh hot delicious and most of all authentic. What was even more surprising is that my family’s country St. Kitts and Nevis was represented! I will definitely return, especially when my mom comes into town.

Amazing! So many carribean places are just… hate to say it,. .but not friendly. You walk in, they barely take time to get off the phone talking to Trevor, dung a yaad… to even greet you, or smile. That really bothers me! This place has amazing food! Just go jump on the buffet, and go home for a nap. But more importantly the owners/employees are actually happy, smiling, welcoming, and really understand the simple concept. that«if your nice to customers. they will return», over and over and over! Bless up P. s. only thing they could improve on, is it would be nice to have some ambient reggae playing while you eat. The place is very small, so the music would put you in an Island vibe as well as distract you from listening to the people at the next table. :)

I’ve dined here twice. For the low price of $ 8.99 for the buffet, it’s quite nice. It’s not a jaw-droppingly nice restaurant as it is a cozy mom-and-pop place, but definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for something different. I enjoy the hearty, spicy food here. They also have a buffet to-go by the pound option as well as a dine-in menu with dishes like duck, oxtail, and so on.

My dad told me about this place called Tassa Roti; I love ox tails so I was like let’s do this! I never go into anything expecting much, it helps me to be neutral about the situation. When we get to the restaurant, it looked like a house. I didn’t think anything of it(remember I’m neutral!) I just wanted to taste the food. Well it actually is like a small house; this place isn’t big or fancy on the inside so don’t expect an upscale restaurant you’d find in midtown or anything. The parking is very tight though… if you have a big car, you may want to borrow someone else’s for this trip, unless you have experience getting a big rig through a storm drain. The food is right by the door; I’m instantly drooling because ox tails and mac and cheese are right there smelling all kinds of good. They have take out(which they pack you down with food) or you can eat from the buffet. I wasn’t going to do the buffet but they got me. Now, let me warn you, if you DONOT like spicy food, you will not like this place. I didn’t mind it too much because of my drink but some can’t handle it. The ox tails, mac and cheese, rice, and plantains were amazing. Everyone who works there is very friendly and helpful! I plan on bringing more people here so they can eat some good food!

I opted out of the AYCE hot bar as I didn’t think I could eat that much. There were about 3 different rice options, mac and cheese, and different meat. None of them stood out to me. My boneless chicken roti looks like a giant burrito stuffed also with curried potatoes and wrapped with the roti bread. Not sure why it was wrapped in napkins. Thinking back, I hope I didn’t eat any soggy napkin that tore and camouflaged itself with the roti. I cut this beast up with a knife and fork because there was no way I can eat it without making a huge mess. I wasn’t impressed with the consistency or flavor of the roti. It was like a less dense form of a corn tortilla. I did enjoy the non dry boneless chicken inside. Then there’s potatoes. My weakness! It was perfectly study, too. The curry is slightly spicy and I think tolerable for most people. Pay careful attention when looking for the place. It can easily be mistaken for a home. There’s a small lot in the back. I got the last legal spot. I can see how it can get tricky to find a spot during peak hours. The restaurant itself is small inside(see picture). Eat first, pay later is their rule.

I had to knock off a star b/c Parking kind of sucks :(and I could barely see the place… BUT — everything else was phenomenal. Like… really good. My colleagues and I wanted to hit up this place on a Friday since we saw lots of great reviews. Luckily one of them saw that it gets super crowded at lunch so we left earlier. WOO — glad we did. 30 mins after we came in, this massive crowd walked in. I could tell the staff here wasn’t fully staffed and had to run around a little. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the hostess & helped to our seats. While we were sitting, the hostess explained their entire buffet. NOTE: Buffet is tiny, but filled with excellent food. I rather have a small awesome buffet versus a huge ‘it’s ok’ buffet. The hostess did a great job of telling us what was what and let us know which was spicy and etc Space — it’s kind of small. It was definitely crowded once the other crowd walked in. We had to use 3 tables since there were 7 of us, so I felt kind of bad. :/I would advise you to come here sooner than later for lunch. You’ll thank me later, haha. Food Their 2 rices were really good. Strange as this sounds — I’m kind of particular with my rice hahaha. Some other places’ rice make me so sick so I have no choice but to be specific. It sucks :/ I think their Chickens were labeled — least spicy to extra spicy. Regardless, I tried them all — all delicious. If you’re like me and not big on spicy… I’d get some extra water: D They did have bones in there so I’d be careful! Their Naan was spot on as well. Very fresh and warm. Mmm. Their cabbage was very good too. Love cabbage! There were other items, but these items made an extremely good impression on me… main entrée. There was mac n cheese, but it was ok. They also had 3 different sauces, but I just used the Chicken sauces for my rice & naan so, I barely used them. I’ll be back!

I had a great experience here. I got the oxtail combo and they didnt skimp on the tails and I got exactly what I ordered. It’s a little ways from my house but I’d definitely make the trip again because I love a good T&T meal, not just because my ancestors are from there either. My boyfriend got the buffet meal and was full after 2 plates. While, my sister got the boneless chicken roti and she said it was pretty good, a little too spicy for her liking. Overall, I’ll be back. Come and bring your appetites!

I haven’t been to Tassa in a couple of years and this place did not disappoint. This place is a little awkward the first time because it is in a home and you park behind the house where normally there would be a backyard. Once you walk-in there is a buffet to your right and a cash register but the owner is super friendly and once you choose what you want it goes smoothly. I suggest the buffet. I sampled each thing on the buffet and the jerk chicken, roti, curry chicken/potatoes and curry green beans were amazing! I also had a bottled ginger beer but it was a little too sweet for me. I sampled their homemade ginger beer and will be getting that next time. We sat outside during the lunch hour and the shade with a breeze was perfect. All that we needed was a beach behind the deck instead of the cars rolling by! p. s. talk about a deal! 7.99 for all you can eat buffet?!?

Due to the lack of good Asian restaurants, I’ve been trying to be more open minded in the Cobb County area in trying new cuisine. Fortunately for me, my co-worker is open minded too and we like similar food. Since she passed all four parts of the CPA exam the first time, I wanted to treat her out. I remember wanting to try Tassa Roti Shop for a while. Caribbean buffet? Heck yeah! Let’s do this. We left work early to get there because I read about the crowded lunch crowd. I dislike going to lunch around noon. Since Tassa Roti Shop is at least 15 mins from our workplace, we left a little before 11 am, just to be safe. The restaurant is a little house off Powers Ferry Road. It looks cute and cozy. Thank goodness we got there early because parking space is limited. We thought we would be the first one there but we saw several other customers already. While walking in, the buffet is on the right hand side next to the cashier. I was a bit surprised to see it there. It seem like there wasn’t much but it actually is a lot. I’m so used to going to Asian or even Indian buffets so I expected lots of food in different areas. It’s just that all the foods are close together so two max is the most to get food from the buffet at the same time. The food is delicious. Straight up. My fave is the jerk chicken. I love spicy food and it is the perfect blend of spiciness. My nose was running! The rice and peas is just too good. I went back several times to try every dish on the buffet. There are 12 items on the buffet to choose from. The roti are warm in a small cooler next to the buffet. There are several dipping sauces to choose from. The ambiance and staff were great! Donya was at the front and really sweet. We chatted a bit and is very outgoing and welcoming. I was soooo stuff. I wanted to fall asleep when I got back to work. Four hours later, I still was stuff. It’s so good, I cannot wait to go back. Next time, I will make enough time to take a quick nap.
