Employees are over the top friendly. Which is a good thing! deli is a great lunch time spot… just beware when coming at noon. There’s a bunch of starving people, only 1 or 2 people working, and no cashier. It reminds me of feeding time at the zoo

I’ve been a bad, bad girl. I’ve neglected to write an update. So here goes: The deli seems to have worked out its issues!!! Yay! They always seem to have enough bread and enough meats and cheeses sliced too. Miss Ernie, Miss Perry and Miss Deborah take great care of me, making sure I have a delicious, well constructed sandwich every time. And all three of them are so funny and personable, I don’t mind waiting if there’s a line. As an added bonus, on Friday — I discovered that when I’m wanting healthier fare, I can skedaddle over to the seafood counter and pick out a piece of ‘fresh’ salmon, then have it skinned & cooked(steamed) for free. I was offered a choice of old bay, Cajun or lemon pepper seasoning. I opted for the old bay. It was absolutely delicious — seasoned well, tender and flakey without tasting ‘diet-y.’ Salmon is one of those things that I sometimes struggle with cooking at home — sautéing or broiling can get the exterior too crispy or tough and I don’t always feel like breaking out the portable charcoal grill. I will definitely do this again! *It’s kinda funny and sad that even though its been several months since they made the change, there are still many customers I have to listen to that are very vocal about how much they dislike the new method of preparing hot sandwiches like philly cheesesteaks or chicken philly’s. The grill is gone and now there’s a convection oven much like Subway.(I think the larger stores like the Cumberland Blvd /Paces Ferry location still have the grills.) I agree that the sandwiches taste completely different using that awful convection oven — but I guess its healthier and quicker.

Publix used to be a store I enjoyed going to when I felt like I could«splurge» on some higher quality groceries. That made it really easy to justify the higher prices, but that hasn’t been the case in many, many years. Competing stores(particularly Kroger) offer even higher quality options at substantially lower prices. I haven’t felt the need to visit a Publix in many years, but having been given two leftover gift cards I decided to visit the one near my house to make use of them. This particular Publix, while still a nice store, has always been the worst Publix I’ve ever visited. The staff are ALL friendly enough — that’s not the problem. The problem is that the item selection is vastly inferior to most other grocery stores(including other Publix stores), barely anything in the store is clearly priced, and the quality of the options just isn’t where it should be to be on par with the prices Publix charges. I think Publix had gotten in the habit of being a «high end» grocery chain and kept their prices high purely out of habit, while everyone else seems to have caught up and even surpassed in quality while keeping prices down. Friendly employees aren’t enough. There’s just no reason to go to Publix anymore. Especially this one. EDIT: My final total was around $ 110. No exaggeration, these same five bags worth of items would have been around $ 30 cheaper at Kroger. Seriously, go to a store that gives you more value for your money. Publix isn’t it.

I prefer Publix for my grocery shopping. Never use their Ticketmaster. Also, the majority of the baggers do not understand how to pack the reusable bags. Watch the packaged cold meat and packaged cheese as sometimes the expiration dates have passed.
