Flavors were there, but the meat was soooo dry unfortunately! Kind of ruined it for me :(

Overall this place was ok. The Brunswick stew tasted just like Dave Poe’s down the street. The pulled chicken was nice and moist, but I wish they had mixed in a little dark meat just to give it a little more fat content. The brisket was decent but nothing to write home about. It didn’t taste fresh and had a refrigerator taste to it. Fortunately the BBQ sauce masked it out. The pulled pork was ok, but there is better out there. The best thing I had was the corn chowder. It was flavorful, filling, creamy, and decadent. It was absolute perfection and a must if you go there. This was the highlight of my meal! I will give this place another try… perhaps for their ribs next time. If the corn chowder is on the board again, it will be at my table.

WARNING: Do not eat here! I try to support all local businesses in West Cobb and I eat quite a bit of BBQ. This is not a bias review but rather the honest truth. The truth is this place sucks! The service is bad, the prices are overpriced, and the food is terrible. To begin with, the BBQ sauce is awful. All the meats come out dry and you get the choice of 2 sauces on the table and they both are below average. The sausage and turkey are just ok. The beef brisket, pork, and ribs are disgusting! Dry and zero flavor! Food comes out cold and boring! Sides are not good at all except for the mac n cheese which is a bad copy of Dave Poes. Why people in Cobb Co go into this place is a mystery to me! Try Williamson Brothers, Dave Poes, or if you really want good BBQ and ribs, drive to Fat Mats Rib Shack in Atlanta. Avoid this restaurant like the plague! I’d pick the Sonnys fast food BBQ over this joint all day long!

Fantastic BBQ pork! The collards are some of the best I’ve had… one of the only times that I can remember that pepper sauce would’ve taken away from the flavor!

Just your average BBQ joint … I had the beef brisket which was very dry, green beans were nothing special, collards were okay. The corn muffin was good but I suspect it was prepared from a box. Definitely wouldn’t order it again IF I was to go back. NOW on the other hand, my Hubby had their short ribs and they were DELICIOUS!!! He also had collards and Mac n cheese which were okay and the«supposedly» smoked wings which didn’t taste smoked at all and again just okay. BUT the short ribs … Now those we may go back for… for take out with no sides. They are excellent!!!

It’s hard to go wrong with their $ 5 lunch special. Pork barbecue, beef brisket or turkey and a generous portion on a sandwich. Drink, sandwich and chips all for $ 5. Had a very friendly server named Janet who was friendly, engaging, and made us feel welcome. Had lunch with my friend Dr. Tim Langley a chiropractor in East Cobb. If you’re looking for good beef brisket check out Sam’s, you’ll be glad you did. Located across from the Avenues right next to Kroger near Yogli Mogli and the Party Avenue store.

Oh yeah, this is the place for Real BBQ Super smokey pork! Great Chicken salad. The cole slaw is different — but really good! I liked the Sweet potato tater tots!

Friday night and every table is full. They should be. Great little place, good quality, yummy, smokey pork… perfect way to wrap up the week. I had the pulled pork sammy with 2 sides. The pork was perfect on Texas toast. I mean P-E-R-F-E-C-T. Nice spicy slow cooked beans and creamy coleslaw. Very nice. The hubs had the smoked pork chop with peach glaze, Brunswick stew and fried okra. Fried okra was cooked just right-not mushy, with just the right amount of crunch. The stew was really good, but the pork chop was awesome. Really moist and obviously slowly smoked to perfection. Don’t miss a stop here.

Our new favorite spot. Our old one was Dave Poe’s, Sam’s former partner. The food is similar. The biggest difference I’ve found so far is Sam’s baked beans are spicey hot, too hot in my opinion. It is noted in the menu though. So far I’ve had the pulled pork, Texas toast, collard greens and mac & cheese, all excellent. My daughter loves the ribs. The sauce is very good too, mainstream style but good. Anyway, we go here now instead of Poe’s not because it’s that much better or different but because its closer and right next to the grocery store we use.

Wasn’t as good as other reviews implied. Wasn’t bad, but wasn’t impressed either. My wife had a side of soup, and had to request a spoon. Also, had the waitress come back and tell us they ran out of Texas toast, and if buns were ok… Meat was good, but sauce wasn’t that great for me. 2.5 stars. I would eat there again, but wouldn’t make a special trip for it.

A colleague recommend this place to me, so I want to pass that recommendation on to the web. This place has excellent Barbeque, and I would go as far as saying it might be some of the best in the area. Their pulled pork is the juiciest I’ve ever had, and their barbecue sauces and sides are delicious.

Best BBQ around! Try my favorite the brisket sandwich with tater tots! The chili — available some days only is also perfect!

Sam is the best! 2nd time back here in Atlanta and this confirms all other BBQ does not compare. I travel all over the country and SAMs is the gold standard. Best Shirt Ribs and Baby Backs around! Sausage is great too. Don’t even get me started on the Mac n cheese.

Hands down my favorite barbecue. It’s so good. I typically get pulled chicken, Mac & cheese, green beans and cornbread, but I’ve never gotten something I didn’t like! Service is good and they are very friendly. Only bad thing is their hours. They close way too early most days and are not open Sunday. Because of their hours we tend to just order takeout from them and pick up shortly before they close up shop. Way to go, Sam’s! Keep up the tasty BBQ!

Food is good as usual, it’s the little things that keep this place from being 5 stars. Serve soup without spoons, then when spoons arrive soup a little cold. Out of menu items almost every time I come. In short though, good food for west Cobb and I’ll come back.

Was Neighborhood BBQ @ its best! Get the smoked turkey, by far the best I have ever had! Service is always friendly and good. Great for families. Update — — 4 February 2015 Place seems to be slipping, using frozen onion rings instead of fresh. I took a break from my usual smoked turkey and had smoked chix salad sandwich basket, chicken was dry, Texas toast was overdone and the fries were not seasoned and still raw. Umm and yes they close @ 8:00pm on the weekends! What?

Every time I have gone to this establishment, I have not been greatly happy of the quality. I have had the baby back ribs twice and they were very dry. The brisket is dry, pork is moist but to me could use more smoke. I do like the service however and the fact they are all very nice employees. I feel my bbq is much better and so does the 100+ people who have had the privilege to eat my food.

We have been wanting to try Sam’s and I’m glad we did! We ordered a turkey sandwich and it was delish, the turkey was seasoned, moist, and didn’t even need the Texas toast or sauce. The pulled pork sandwich was good and one of the better pulled pork sandwiches we’ve had around town. My only negative comment is that the Mac and cheese lacked flavor but, the smoked chicken salad was flavorful and good. The restaurant was very clean and put together. We will be back

How can folks complain about the price? $ 7.50 for a sandwich, side and a drink? Your only other choice in that price range is fast food. I had the brisket sandwich and Mac. It was damn good. This BBQ is the real deal. Sure it ain’t fancy here but this guy knows how to cook some meat. I’d put this solidly in my top 10BBQ restaurants in Atlanta and probably close to top 5. The brisket(which is hard to do well) was done reaaally well.

Great experience here. Service was very friendly and helpful. Ordered the lunch plate with brisket, sweet potato tots, and fried okra and all were top notch. The sweet potato tots were especially great. Brisket was very tender, juicy and overall good stuff. Sauce was nice and sweet. The inside of the restaurant is nice and cozy and with booths, tables, and a bar to eat at. A good overall feel to it. I will definitely be back at some point to try the rest of the meats here.
