If you’re just dying for a dive bar, or if you are looking for the dregs of Marietta, start imprinting your ass on one of these booths. The service is friendly, and the food is edible, but I wouldn’t recommend this to my mother.

I have been going to The Place(mostly on Saturday nights), on and off, for several years. I’ve gone as a single, I’ve gone with girlfriends, and I’ve taken dates there. There is a decent size dance floor and I enjoy getting out on it and having a good time. It’s generally an older crowd which fits my demographic. And, the service and food are good. The good: Service is usually excellent and the food is good. The not so good: I liked the music selection much more previously. It used to be a good mix. Maybe it was just last night or a temporary DJ, but he played a number of songs we had never heard before and there were a number of times where the dance floor was empty. Should be a clue as when to change things up. Just play the hits(past and present) that people enjoy dancing to. It was really uneven. The bad: The mixed drinks were weak. If you order a Scotch on the rocks, they charge you extra for the ice. You can’t get free water(regardless of whether you are ordering food and/or drinks). I totally understand charging for water if a person isn’t ordering food or drinks, but not giving free water to paying patrons is a little extreme. The smoke is overwhelming. They not only allow smoking, but cigar smoking too. So, in summary, I went last night with my girlfriend. We enjoyed the food, the service was excellent, we enjoyed dancing to a handful of songs, we didn’t get free water, we were overwhelmed with the smoke, and ultimately left disappointed.

Nice quiet place near the office to sit with co-workers after a long day and knock back a couple brewskis and shoot some darts. Some nights there are different buffets. Some nights there is BINGO. Some nights there is live entertainment. Some nights they have vaping cloud competitions. Great place to sit and watch whatever game is on. Great ambience, nice and quiet, and not too crowded. Lovely wait staff and bartenders; very responsive to needs in making sure you’re okay or if you need something else. If you come here at night, just don’t be sitting in my seat by the dart board and everything will be alright. Lol

So I went with a friend of mine to The Place last night. This is not the first time I’ve been there, but it will be the last. I’m going to tell you why: First of all, we paid a $ 5 per person cover to get in. No problem, a bar has to make money. Then we sit at the bar, order a couple beers, and proceed to enjoy our beers and BS for a minute. We end up talking to a group of people sitting behind us, and they come up to the bar to chat with us for bit. Then, they go on their way to the other side of the bar. Next thing I know, the bouncer(who is a real piece of work) tells my friend that he has to go. I ask the bouncer why and apparently somebody complained that my friend inappropriately touched somebody. This is absolute BS because I was sitting by my friend the whole time and didn’t see anything of the sort. I end up pressing the matter with the bouncer asking him who complained, but he wouldn’t tell me and ends up asking me to leave as well. We weren’t even there 30 minutes and we just spent $ 10 to get in, on top of $ 10 for the beers, plus tip and we get kicked out for no reason at all. I will never go back to The Place ever again. It’s a shady spot. The bouncer is an a$$hole. And he even threatened us because we wouldn’t leave right away because we wanted to find out why we’re being kicked out on a premise that never happened.

This place reminds me of a lower class Johnny’s hideaway. If that’s your scene you’ll love this place. Otherwise stay away. But it’s a pretty good place to pick up old chicks ;)

We went here for lunch recently and was pleasantly surprised. We had great service and it was like I stepped right in the middle of the Cheer’s TV Set. The bartender knew everyone and their names! lol Anyway, I love to play Keno and love good food, so this place was perfect for that. They do have a smoking atmosphere but I haven’t been anywhere in the City of Marietta that was a bar and didn’t have smoking. Until the City bans smoking, you will have smoking to deal with. I will be back after my experience and I was happy to see their 100% food safety rating. So, if you are unsure of this place, let the food safety rating speak for itself. Great Food and Great Keno!!! I will be back for lunch again!

This is a smoker’s delight dive bar, and an older crowd for sure. Unfortunately smoke makes me feel sick the next day, so I usually stay away from smoke bars, but we were meeting our friends. Its kind of not fair for me to review this place as I am definitely not the target clientele, so I won’t comment too much on things that are of preference. The music was actually a pretty good mix. The drinks however were a little too sweet and they had nothing on draft, which is mostly what this review is based on. We also had a waitress that was super awesome and trying really hard to take care of everyone. She even changed the channel for us, told the bartenders to make me a better drink, and came to check and see if it was better. She belongs somewhere we can frequent more.

I have been going there off and on for a year … Nice small dance floor plenty of interesting people watching … Affordable … Thursday night open mic … Friday and Saturday DJ and dancing nights. A fun place if you want to shake your butt n have a good time. Crowd age 25 to 55 mainly. Later in the night stay away from the guys that hang by the dance floor edge hovering … go there regularly you would know why. This is how they get laid … And maybe only how they get laid … Girls bringing girlfriends that drink too much. Watch them lol … You’ve been warned Later the night goes people get drunker so if you like it mellow n chill leave before 1am. I like to people watch and mingle so I love it but if you like to just take it easy maybe you wouldn’t. Food is ALL good there. No draft beer all bottles sucks. Drinks are usually strong. Few of the bartenders are super cool n if you take care of them they will take care of you. Two bars … Back bar little more chill. Has some tvs around but I rarely look at them. Bathrooms have friendly service people and hair products etc. I usually give her a dollar or two if I’m there for a few hours. Oh … Super super smokey. If you hate smoke your not going to like it. This is kind of a simple bar for simple fun people … Not buckhead … Not cowboys yuck … Not a young people meat locker pickup place … Women look hot but not trashy. Guys all always look great. Keep your expectations low and just decide your gonna have a good time and you will. I often go alone and make new friends by sitting with strangers and talking with people. Having a good time anywhere is a state of mind more than anything. Security is good nights … Lots of taxis if you have too much. Amazingly friendly bartenders and wait staff for the most part. Unless you love people watching dancing or music probably wouldn’t be a good first date place. If you want your date to be fun open minded and light hearted and have a great time take them for a second date and see how they are … Maybe a deciding factor to keep them or not lol Fri and sat Music … Blend of current hits and dance music. Later in the night gets a little more hip hop. He throws country in and also various group dance songs. It’s a good blend … But more on the modern side. Probably more fun to go there with a friend than not … But there are lots of people to talk with everywhere and lots of singles … Make the most of it !

«The Place» cracks me up. My husband wearing his Cubs baseball cap was told he had to remove it before going inside but was also told if he had a cowboy hat it could be worn. Really? Then we noticed there was a two drink minimum. Again, really? It wasn’t a problem for our group but we just found it strange. The last time I needed to purchase a drink minimum was at a Chippendale’s show. «The Place» reeked of smoke, but it is definitely a great place to watch some cougars(or so they think) work over some of the men sitting at the bar. Oh, and the outfits! Leopard spandex mini skirts on a 50 something wasn’t the most flattering but hey, entertaining to say the least!

This is the 80s meet Johnny’s Hideaway for Marietta. It’s been a while since I’ve had such great people watching. We saw creepy old men, skanky young girls, Bobbie Sue and her toothless friends, and the cast from Saved by the Bell all in one place. Amazing! One conversation I overheard went somewhat like this: Man: Are you??? Woman: Have we??? Man: Want to dance? Man and woman walk off to dance floor, and possibly rekindle an old flame. Interesting! They have plenty of place to sit with your group of friends and have some drinks. They have a small dance floor for those who would like some up close people watching. The MAJOR negative, which keeps me from«this Place» is the amount of smoke. I smelled like a trash dump when leaving. I also had the worst headache, and it wasn’t from the 3 drinks I had. We will try again when it’s warm enough to sit outside, that way we’re not dying of second hand smoke. It’s a place that’s a great idea when you’ve already been drinking and don’t know better(and seems like a great idea at the time)!

How did a nice girl like me end up in a dive like this? The Place is quite an experience. I don’t think I quite knew what I was getting into when I accepted a date to a birthday party at The Place. First off, it’s dank and smoky and sticky throughout. And judging by the looks of my fellow patrons, and what some of them were doing with and to each other, the sticky could’ve come from spilled drinks or bodily fluids. Second, the«dance» music was a mix of really bad and bad. We’re talking«Desperado,» «The Electric Slide,» and«Boom, Boom Pow.» Third, the free entertainment was amazing. And I’m talking people watching. Freak show! And on an upside, the servers were on their game and made sure our drinks were always fresh. They do have a weird two-drink minimum. It begs the question, why else would anyone go to The Place if not to drink himself or herself silly and forget where they are?

I’d like to start off this review by saying that I have been to The Place(both locations) several times, but the Marietta location was always my favorite one to visit on a Friday or Saturday night. On a Friday or Saturday night you were pretty much always guaranteed good people watching. You never knew what cougar was going to be on the prowl, or which person thought they were going to be hip and dance upside down next to the wall. It was here at The Place, I learned that ladies who wore their Sunday best could shake it out on the dance floor and men who thought they were Casanova’s get their flirt on with all the lovely ladies there. I’ve seen older people here as well as younger people here. I’ve seen really attractive adults and some who were not so attractive. The Place to me really was the place to go for some affordable entertainment. There wasn’t a cover charge and being that it is a bar /restuarant /dancing club /source of hours of funny stories, you could hang out for hours enjoying yourself. Well that all changed last night. I haven’t been to The Place in several months. Last night one of my best friends and I decided to go just to have some fun like we had previously. Nothing was out of the norm when we walked in and showed our ID’s to the bouncer. We just kind of walked around to see what was going on and to decide if we wanted to sit or go dancing. In the span of ten minutes we were approached by three waitresses(one approached us twice) asking us if we wanted anything to drink. We both said no thanks not right now. We weren’t thirsty. Immediately after the third waitress approached us and left, we were approached by one of the bouncer who demanded that we step outside. My friend and I were puzzled because we were both of the legal age to be there and we weren’t causing any trouble. When we got to the front area of the bar next to the door, the bouncer took his handy dandy flashlight and shined it above the entry way to a very small sign that said«two drink minimum order to stay.» He explained not so kindly that we had been approached by four waitresses and that we had not ordered anything. We either needed to order something or leave. We explained that we had only been there ten minutes and did not want anything at that moment. He again referred to the sign and told us again(like we didn’t understand it the first time) that either we had to order or we had to leave. We decided to leave. Here is my issue with this whole thing, if you are going to enforce a two drink minimum, then the sign does not need to be above our heads on a darkened beam where you have to illuminate it with your flashlight in order for it to be seen. Furthermore, the sign should be at the front door stating this. Or have the bouncer remind the customers about the new policy of a two drink minimum. Not everyone who enters is a seasoned customer. I should not have to feel harassed for not participating in a rule I knew nothing about. Overall, I understand they are trying to earn money while not having to charge a cover charge. I get that, but they could do it in a better manner. So after the buzz kill last night, I don’t know if I will ever want to go back there.
