My boyfriend, best friend, goddaughter & friend had an early dinner here. I noticed the entire parking lot had become parking for valet only. Good thing you have the option to park at killer café if you don’t want to valet your care. There was no wait, which was great for a Saturday. Our waitress was Lexi and she was awesome!!! Very friendly, informative and attentive. This is one of my favorite places and I will continue to come here!

Terrible place if you are with a party in the patio. They absolutely have no common sense of placing the umbrellas for people who are sitting in the sun. When I went here there were 2 umbrellas on one table. I had asked multiple waiters if they can move it and said they can’t which makes no sense. Also not just that but the food did not come fast so we were all waiting for about 2 and a half hours in the heat. When the food did come to my table the waiter had no delicacy of placing the food and had basically threw it and lost half of my meal. Instead of saying sorry they had ran away and had no decency to come back to ask if we need help or replacing my half spilled meal. I would not recommend it at all. Do NOT waste your money!

OMG! Ok, we ate at Killer Shrimp 20 years ago. Yea, you read that right, 20 years ago!!! I took my wife on our very first date there back in 1996. Let me tell you, the food is just as amazing. The staff(Billy, Micki, and manager Tom) were awesome. Treated us like royalty. They’ve moved into a much bigger place in Admiralty Way. We first went when they were on Washington. Had the Original and Fishermans’s stew. Both were out of this world. If you put a negative review of this place your just crazy! Go, enjoy, and have a great time!!!

Shrimp original is good not what I expected tho … came with a big group got my soda half way filled finished it asked for a refill & I didnt get my refill until the bill came out I had to tell the waitress she forgot & didn’t comp it. we asked for waters 4 times before they were brought out… isn’t that the first thing that’s brought out? 3 stars tho Kuz the food wasn’t bad & all the art work inside is pretty cool !

After reading negative reviews, I had to pipe in. This place is awesome. If people have a bad experience, it is extremely rare or contrived. Another dreary Monday and just landed at Killer for happy hour. I’m lucky there was a seat at the bar! Fast service and always lovely! Christian is serving drinks and always brightens up the mood of the room. I miss some things on the new menu but like a lot of the new stuff. Especially the new chicken fingers. Time for some chowder and vino!

Second time coming here with family. I’d give it a 5 star but service has always been terrible. Seems like they can careless what you need and hate working. They’ve always forgotten utensils, takes forever to get attention and they don’t know how to even fake a smile. However, food is delicious!!! Got the famous killer shrimp and lobster dish. Seafood pasta was a bit too buttery, but good. And Bbq ahi burger was cooked and prepared perfectly. Really would want to come back, just want to avoid the staff. It’s a deal breaker.

Visiting here from NY for my bachelorette party weekend. It’s getting two stars because the lobster Mac and cheese is delicious. Otherwise, don’t bother. The service was terrible; waitress and manager couldn’t tell my party if there was nuts in the«secret» killer sauce. They were completely clueless and tried really hard to maintain the secret family recipe. All it is is just Thai coconut flavoring. The seafood wasn’t fresh, my paella rice was hard. The management wasn’t apologetic or accommodating at all with my friend’s nut allergy. Utensils were given after our appetizers were served and water was given 40 minutes into the dinner. Aside from good drinks and okay appetizers, don’t waste time. Just go directly to the bar.

Should have turned back when I got there and saw that it was crowded. I have been to this place before when it was quiet and then it is enjoyable. Food is good in general. This time however, the bar was packed with rowdy sports fans and the restaurant was stuffed. We(3 ppl) were put on a waiting list for a table outside which they told me would take about 20 minutes. Everyone I saw entering after us was however seated pretty much straight away or within 5 minutes of arrival. After half an hour of waiting, still no sign of life so I went inside to follow up. They told me they could seat us, so we followed the waitress. Unfortunately, she walked to a table inside. So I told her that I had requested a table outside and her explanation was: «We only have three tables outside that can seat three people.». Ok but that’s not what I asked when I came in and I was told 20 minutes. At this point you might think«Hey so why didn’t you just reserve a table before coming?» Well, because you cannot make reservations unless your party is 6 people or more. What? Anyway. We took the table inside, which had the atmosphere of a school cafeteria and with lighting so dimmed that you could barely read the menu. Drinks took a while to show up due to the busy bar, but food came quickly. The guy who brought my dish(Killer Shrimp bowl) reached it out to me and as I grabbed it said«Watch out, it’s hot». THANKSFORTELLINGMEAFTERYOUPUSHEDITINTOMYHANDS! Also, the waitress popped by quickly to chuck a plate of towelettes on the table(yes, chucked…). While we were eating, a waiter that had not been at our table before asked only one of our party how the her food was and ignored my husband and myself. Strange. In general the service could not have been more careless. The attitude was basically«Well if you’re not happy, too bad for you because we’re going to make it worse.». It will definitely be a while before I can gather myself again to come back. Train your staff in customer service or hire people that are not snotty teens.

Every time I come to Marina Del Rey I come to have lunch here! Great place with awesome views of the harbor and beach! Yesterday we came thru and we ordered their killer shrimp bowl! We ordered it already peeled. Came in a big bowl with hot and spicy broth. They give you a good amount of shrimp and a basket of baguette slices for you to dip into the sauce! Tastes even better than the last time we had it! We also ordered the fish stew. It was a mixture of different fish pieces, mussels, clams, shrimp and scallops. Had some spice in the broth and was very tasty. This place reminds me of Bubba Gump. Everything revolves around shrimp. Come and give it a try!

I went here today with two of my friends for dinner tonight and everything was perfect! We lucked out because there was no traffic and no wait, and we were pretty much helped right away. My friend got ravioli that she loved. My other friend got a rice and shrimp dish that was sooooo delicious. And I got the killer shrimp shelled. We all shared fried calamari and oysters for appetizer. The only thing that wasn’t amazing was the oysters. They tasted very tasteless and bland… it’s ok though. Service and parking was awesome! My friends and I had a great night.

Truth be told, some of the negative reviews ALMOST kept me away from trying this place(with some of my trustworthy Unilocal friends writing some pretty scathing reviews), but one of my work friends raved about this place. Also, when my NY daughter was visiting recently, and we were in the area, she asked if we could try it. I was hesitant to say yes, but I did, and here I am, now writing a 4-star review. While Unilocal is 95% reliable(to me), every now and then, I don’t see/experience what others do. Granted, many of these friends’ reviews are old, so maybe the restaurant improved over the years. I don’t know, but what I do know is that I not only like this place a lot, I’ve been back TWOMORETIMES now in a 2-month time frame. The setting is fantastic, right at the Marina. You can sit outside and dine amid a fantastic view of the water with all the sailboats… or sit inside in some very large dining areas or an equally large bar area where food is also served. It’s a big place. The only thing I didn’t like is that if you want to park directly on their sizable parking lot ONTHEWEEKEND, you MUST utilize their valet… EVENDURINGTHEDAY. It’s $ 4.00… not all that much, but why, on a weekend day, and trust me, it’s never been THAT crowded. Even if they offer it, why do they have to partition off the ENTIRE lot for the valet? If you want to park yourself, you have to park in another lot. Again, this only applies to weekends, but I don’t think it’s right. That being said, I didn’t mark off for that… I’m just letting y’all know. Now for the food… yes, they’re known for their shrimp dishes(although they have plenty more things to offer), and they’re also known for most items being of a spicy nature. The first time we went, they said that«Killer Shrimp» dishes(½ pound of shrimp simmering in a very spicy broth) is probably a «7» on a scale of 1 – 10. Well, that deterred me from ordering it… that would just be too spicy for me… but my daughter loves spicy food, so she ordered it(the Killer Shrimp — shelled). I tasted it just to see how flavorful the broth is, as well as how the shrimp tasted… and you know what, it was DARNGOOD… and on the spice scale, NO, it was only a 5. No way a 7. I’m still glad I didn’t order it only because after dunking the huge amount of French bread they serve for soaking up that wonderful sauce, the heat factor would have eventually overcome me… but a little bit, yah, it was fine. Everything tasted great. Really terrific broth flavor… and I haven’t the faintest idea what the ingredients were/are. I ordered their seafood salad, which has a huge amount of seafood… calamari, shrimp, crabmeat… served over a bed of iceberg lettuce, that comes with tomato, sliced hardboiled egg, cucumber, avocado and spicy thousand island dressing. The spice factor here is maybe a 1 or 2, nothing invasive, and I’ve ordered that salad 3 times now(all times for lunch). I love it. Everything is fresh, the seafood has great flavor in and of itself(I hate when seafood is completely without flavor), and I can never finish the salad because there’s so much. Keep in mind, though, whoever I’m with, we also get an order of their lobster mac ‘n cheese, so it’s all quite filling, and I can’t consume everything in one sitting. They serve very large portions of whatever you order. The lobster mac ‘n cheese is also REALLY good. Thick, creamy, cheesy with LOTS of lobster chunks… and great flavor. I honestly don’t know why others didn’t and still don’t like it. I know I do, and it’s a great addition to my list of restaurants in this area. Give this place a try if you dare… and let me know what you think.

Anytime we are in La or this side of the map we have to stop at killer shrimp for a nice bowl of the original shell off, for appetizers we got ahi poke(not a fan it was to warm for my liking, and there agua chili(shrimp avocado and cucumber in a spicy lemon juice chili) The agua chilis were good but salty this time, the killer shrimp broth is so delicious. Don’t order a spicy beer unless you want it made with Bloody Mary mix. Overall I love this place! The customer service does lack among the girls when you sit by the water. I usually have to get up or Flagg them down for that they can’t get a 5star rating. The food here is better then the new killer shrimp located in San Francisco

I love Killer Shrimp! Been coming here for ages but finally got a chance to check in on Unilocal! It’s original location was located on Washington Bl but recently moved over to the former Edie’s Diner location on Admiralty Way. The most recent visit here was when my sister and I brought our mom here for Mother’s Day. It was packed but our waitress managed to seat us right away. We were sat indoors but still had a marvelous view of the Marina harbor. The food is always delicious here. Started off with Fried Calamari and Buffalo Chicken Strips. The fried Calamari was very tender inside and crispy inside. The Buffalo Chicken Strips was very hot and spicy. I was a bit disappointed with my mother’s Mojito order. They served her very little liquid and too much ice in her drink. The drink was almost a quarter empty packed to the brim with ice. I mean did they forget to top it off with Sprite? I ordered the Coconut Crusted Shrimp. Came with 6 fairly large shrimp, cole slaw, and french fries. I loved the cole slaw. It wasn’t sweet at all and you taste the creamyness of the mayo and the brightness of the lemon juice. You can actually taste the celery flavor in the cole slaw from the celery seeds. I also had the privilege to have a small taste of my mother and sister’s meals. I loved the spiciness in the batter from the fish and chips my mother ordered and the buttery flavor in the shrimp soup that came with my sister’s shrimp and rice. Service was very quick. I love that about a restaurant. The staff was friendly and polite. Based on the location and the type of food they serve, the menu is quite pricy but worth it for the amount of food they serve. Their is self serve parking on the left side of the restaurant which is free but it gets packed really quick. Otherwise, there is valet parking in front of Killer Shrimp for $ 7. Great Restaurant! Will definitely come back here again in the future.

Was in the area and finally decided to give it a try. We were seated immediately and started with drinks. I ordered the killer shrimp and lobster, served with corn on the cob and French bread. It had just the right amount of spice without being ridiculously hot. I only wish the sauce was thicker, but it was decent enough. Our waitress was nice and gave helpful feedback on menu items. I’ll definitely come back again.

The fisherman’s stew was delicious, just not as big as the regular killer shrimp bowl, I’d suggest to ask for the rice on the side so that it doesn’t absorb all the broth… Great view and good service.

So I’ve come here a fair number of times now, and while I still think the service is great and the ambiance is lovely, the quality of the food has sunk to a low I don’t want to relive. Tonight we ordered a simple dinner for four: original killer shrimp(no shells), bone-in pork chop, filet mignon, and coconut-crusted shrimp. Our server was excellent at communicating and stopped in several times while we were waiting to reassure us that the food was coming shortly. Given that we were one of five occupied tables in the dining room, this was already a bad sign. Killer shrimp: normally I’m all about this dish. I love food with a kick, and this flavor is super distinct. Tonight my mom bit into a shrimp and told me it was gritty. I tried a few and didn’t have that problem. Towards the end of the dish, I found a gross vein dangling out of one of the shrimps and it put me off eating for the rest of the meal. Guess mama knows best. Pork chop: overcooked and dry. The side of mashed potatoes seemed to get the salt portion that all of the rest of the dishes were lacking. Do not recommend. Filet mignon: ordered this medium, it came out well done. Not a hint of pink. It, too, lacked salt, and would have been inedible without the dipping sauces. Coconut-crusted shrimp: obviously this dish sat around waiting while the rest were(over)cooking. It was lukewarm! Coleslaw suffered from lack of seasoning; we actually asked for a salt shaker! Sigh. This used to be one of my favorite dishes here. We did not finish this plate, and left all the fries on there as well. Had my family told me that their dishes were subpar from the get-go, I would have told our server. By the time I found a flaw in my dish, we were basically done with dinner. I got to try the other plates, and I had to agree with their critiques. Womp. Four strikes in one night on an increasingly downward slope over the last few months. At $ 20+/person without drinks, I would much rather get mediocre food elsewhere. What happened, guys? Consistency is what keeps people coming back, and after tonight, I’m out.

I honestly think this place is GREAT for happy hour. The bar area/room gets pretty full. But the cool thing is its not like the type of joint where everyone is standing around and breathing over you at your seated table. Nice patio seating(limited) for you to enjoy the Marina Del Rey’s dockside. Warm late afternoons and watch the sunset in the early evening. Its a straight set up if you’re there on a date and have had a glass of wine or two. Haha. I prefer this bar dining over the actual restaurant side. So if you can hop over this way instead. Its more entertaining with its tvs every where, music and people watching. We always order: clams, the sliders, popcorn shrimp and fries(not on hh). My only complaint is: moving that trash can/used table wear drop off station some where else or not have it at all by the server station. If you’re sitting in the booth area near there be prepared to occasionally have little natts flying around or worse flies! No one like to swat and smile while trying to entertain their other half, friends or family members. Its honestly just over all gross and annoying. So please remove that. Oh and possibly upping up a little bit more of a variety on the hh food menu. Idk just a thought? Cool, well that’s that.

Killer Shrimp! We really enjoyed our experience here. Sitting outside on the deck is a must if the weather is nice. My boyfriend ordered the Killer Shrimp: Shelled and I ordered the Killer Chicken Tenders. We also ordered the popcorn shrimp for an appetizer. We were pleased with the food and the service. The Killer Shrimp bowl reminded me of a watery gumbo, though. I think I expected the soupy part to be a little thicker, but that’s ok. My chicken was amazing. I’m a fan of spicy, though ;)

The shrimp cocktail was yummy but it only came with three shrimp… For two people?!? How do you split that? The lobster roll was good but too much sauce and not enough lobster. The sweet potatoes fries were delicious. I had a bite of the lobster ravioli which was pretty great– very creamy and very stuffed with lobster! Yum! Mimosas were great! The server wasn’t very friendly but she did a good job with service. I told her I was on Unilocal and she didn’t even acknowledge it… It’s not really worth going back– but had to try it once.

To kill or not to kill??? That tis the question. Well, simply put«NO» Killer Shrimp managed to ruffle some feathers but it was from a «killer» experience. Some time back a friend of my husband urged him to visit this restaurant ranting and raving that they had the best shrimp he’d ever had. After days and weeks of his friend hyping it up my husband decided he wanted to see for himself. We stopped in on a Saturday in the mid-afternoon. From the outside Killer Shrimp is not very impressive(at least from the main entrance side); but when you walk in you’re immediately confronted with beautiful marina views. When we arrived employees were scurrying around setting up, sweeping and rearranging tables. I realize that cleaning throughout the way is part of running a restaurant but this was much more than just clearing tables and minor sweep ups. I mean isn’t major cleaning & set up suppose to take place before the restaurant opens??? Not to mention that some of the employees where loudly discussing their personal plans as they slowly and I mean sloooooowly set up chairs and tables. It all seem so unorganized and quite frankly miss managed. On top of all the activity food was being brought out as employees we’re sweeping and lifting dirty… ummm I don’t know about you but I don’t want my food going though a gauntlet of dust before getting to my table. Turns out they were preparing for a large graduation party; in all honesty though it doesn’t take over 45 minutes to rearrange tables and do a quick clean up. This I found rather ridiculous and unacceptable since we were seated in the vicinity and had to put up with all the employee chatter and other unnecessary noise being produced. As for the ambiance well I think Killer Shrimp is having a bit of an identity crisis… is it a family friendly restaurant? Is it a casual place of dining? It is more upscale maybe romantic? Heck I don’t know and I don’t think they know either. Anyway, moving on it took several minutes for our server to get to us. There were a few other tables occupied but by no means was the restaurant at ½ capacity… maybe not even ¼ capacity. Whatever was going on it took entirely too long to get service. We finally managed to order the Lobster Mac and Cheese. When the bowl came out it was nice and warm, cheesy and moist. It looked beautiful, but that’s were it ends, sadly it lacked depth and flavor. It was good it just wasn’t «killer». In addition to the mac & cheese my husband ordered a bowl of clam chowder. I didn’t have any of it but my husband said it needed a stronger clam taste as well as more clams. My husband and I also got a bowl of the original Killer Shrimp. The servings are plentiful and I absolutely loved the delicate yet prominent taste of rosemary, although I could have done without the bits of actually rosemary floating around, still it was a very good dish. The soup also came with bread, which was good for dipping in the soup… yummy! As for drinks I decided to be adventurous and ordered a Saladito, which has: El Silencio Mezcal, honey syrup, fresh lime and chili salt. It had a nice smokiness to it. But I don’t think l was ready to drink tequila again, as it not only evoked some not so pleasant memories of a distant past but made me a bit nauseous too. However, for anyone who does not have an aversion to tequila this would make a great drink option. Finally for dessert my husband opted for the apple cobbler. Again, as with the clam chowder I didn’t get to taste it but he rates it a 2 on a scale from 1 – 5. Somehow, according to him, he said it was oddly sweet yet tasteless. In all I would certainly go back for a bowl of the Killer Shrimp but not to this location. I’d take my chances and try another location hopefully management elsewhere runs a tighter ship.
