Unfortunately this restaurant is CLOSED. There was an apology sign on the door and the place was gutted. Sad. :(

Service was just ok, location is very pretty, food was à bit pricey and they used too much egg for my taste. A good place to try once for the food, and come back for the smoothies.

A nice place to have brekfast or lunch and sit by the water Love there shakes and salads and oat meal and sandwitches I walked my dog there all the time. They are a pet friendly place to. A great place to relax and meet the local people in the marina

I enjoyed this little spot. A nice little local spot with a nice view. The food was ok, but nothing great. I would have rated this place a bit higher if my coffee would have been better. I will go back.

Great coffee and chicken salad. The smoothies are great too. Perfect after having a workout at the gym above, and to enjoy the afternoon sun while overlooking the Marina

Fantastic little place. I wish they had better utensils, my only complaint. Just a neighborhood joint, cheap and of course great location. Thank you for being there. Some freaky customers, and high maintenance yups thinking they are somewhere they arent but whatevs, goes with the territory. I hope you stay here forever, though as this area gets overly gentrified, and begins to look like Vegas architecture and the valley, I wonder.

Soo good! I ordered the smoked salmon breakfast wrap. Delicious and filling, came with a side of fresh fruit. Quaint little place along the marina. Was visiting a friend and we stopped in for breakfast. Definitely try this place!

I’ve returned to Mermaids a few times since my 1st review and still enjoy it… usually. I typically go for lunch during my break and get a wrap or sandwich. This time, we went for breakfast b/c we were going to Mother’s Beach aftewrards. For some reason, we went for less healthy items which ended up being OVERLY greasy and not quite as good as their healthier foods. We shared the ham and cheese bagel sandwich and the ham breakfast quesadilla. The sandwich which was an opened faced sandwich and there was SOMUCH cheese. For some(typically me actually), this is perfect, but it was a bit too much cheese and I ended up taking the cheese and ham off separately and eating just the bagel and ham less cheese b/c it was so much. It also didn’t taste like gourmet cheese … and I’m a big cheese fan. The quesadilla was OK. Nothing to write home about. I think I’ll stick with Mermaids for lunch.

The boyfriend and I went on a long walk with the dog around the marina on a freakishly warm January day. I was dying for a snack and cold drink. I ordered a strawberry pineapple smoothie(very good — had protein powder in it) and a banana muffin(also great). While I waited for my drink, I checked out the menu. Lots of vegetarian options for me. I can see a lunch visit in our future, especially because there’s outdoor seating so we can bring the dog. Only thing that wasn’t perfect was the guy who was working the cash register. He was probably having a bad day or something, but he was super unfriendly to the point that I felt like I was inconveniencing him by ordering anything.

Truly enchanted by the name. Especially felt like one, lost in the sea of life, not knowing nor caring almost, wherever the tides shuffle us. So a gf & i found ourselves«shipwrecked» here, from nite of Salsa dancing madness @nearby The Warehouse [ In the chilly yet sunny noonish, we swimmingly strolled from her place to replenish our weathered tails. Her order: Ham & Melty Cheese Croissant w/Soy Latte. Mine: McMermaid(lightly toasted & folded tortilla wrap of scrambled eggs, bacon & basil — oh yum! Move over land-lubbing McMuffin rival!) …& Minty Lemonade — double yum. Cool casual service reflects the easy-breezy surroundings, mostly outdoor boat docked patio. Large groups of more than 4 at a time, can be seating challenged. Nothing fancy nor pricey ‘cept the gorge-yourself-gorgeous marina & beachy view! Now that’s how to start a Saturday morning right! …like a refreshed, renewed mermaid ready for her next trubulent stormy high-sea adventures! =D

This place happens to be right across the street from our apartment which makes it the ideal«roll out of bed» breakfast spot. The staff is nice, the smoothies never let us down and the breakfast options are very yum. Try the egg white toastie and blueberry smoothie– great combo!

This is definitely not a «hey, I read a great review about this place in the Marina, let’s go to it!». Its more like, «I was walking around the Marina, and went to the gym nearby, and holy cow, didn’t realize there was this cute little café there!» sort of a place. That being said, now that we don’t live in the Marina anymore, but know about this place, we still drop by occasionally. Cute little place where you can stare out at the boats, watch locals, see the cute pups lounging around and order some coffee, shakes or smoothies. I like their pressed breakfast burrito. They’re health conscious, so its made with egg whites and turkey bacon. Yum. They have Mermaid Smoothie, I think its called, and we’re a bit addicted to it – its probably nothing more than a bunch of blended frozen fruit, but something about the way they do it here … well, its perfect for the atmosphere, so laid back, playing old timey jazz… a nice little Sunday afternoon.

When I lived in Marina del Rey, I was a member of the gym that is upstairs of this sweet little café. Their smoothies are awesome and healthy, made from real fruit and fruit juice. The coffee and oatmeal with egg whites was a morning must. Walk around and check out the boats because it’s right on the Marina.

I really like this place. Being a semi-local(Playa Vista) I can always count on being able to spend time with my husband AND my dog for a great meal, with a great view, smell of the ocean with a side of a breeze while listening to the sea lions chat. And Odin, my staffy likes to watch the birds frolic in the trees above the little tables outside. We work of the meal by walking all through the marina looking at boats. Thanks Mermaid, you make me smile. R

This place is great to go for morning juice or coffee, lunch or just a little snack. I always stop in with my dog for his«doggie-bowl» which is kibble with chicken breast and shredded cheese… they are great with animals — outside, of course. Another favorite is their lemonade, without the mint leaf, though. The toasties and quesadillas are tasty, I just wish they had more filling, partial-plates or something… still love having the place in the ‘hood, though! Nice, relaxing atmosphere… love that it’s pretty-much on the water, overlooking the last dock on the D-channel before it turns into Mother’s Beach… and I can stop in after racquetball or working out, a true Marina gem.

Just a stone’s throw from the famous Cheesecake Factory in Marina del Rey is a sweet café called Mermaids. Located on the ground level of Marina Fitness Center Health Club, and overlooking the D basin and Mother’s Beach, boaters, gym enthusiasts, and tourists queue up for their morning cuppa joe, or a healthy protein shake. Specializing in «toasties» and wraps, served with either a salad or veggie chips, it’s a pleasure to have such a casual, cozy café in my ‘hood. Dogs are always welcome outside. Stop on by some morning or afternoon to get a true local flavor of Marina del Rey.
