Tried this out two weeks ago because we’d been curious for a while and had the day off. It was worth the trip to Marion. Bruce met us at the door. We each ordered quesadillas(he had veggie I had taco) both were delicious. My salad had homemade croutons and his pasta salad disappeared quickly. And dessert came with the price.

My husband and I stopped at Bruce’s for lunch on our way home from a visit to Asheville. My husband had the Greek Chicken Salad, and I had the Ruben sandwich. Both were excellent. The service was friendly and fast. A tasty dessert is included with all meals. We will definitely be stopping by again the next time we are traveling to or from Asheville.

Fabulous lunch spot in Marion. Wow, was not expecting to find a gem like this place in Marion. I was here two years ago and somehow this place missed my search because it’s only open for lunch. Lunches come with dessert. Go ahead and plan to get a cheesecake. Bruce is a cheesecake savant. Over 150 flavors, I tried the Banana Pudding and Mexican Coffee ones. Banana pudding was like a great banana pudding that also has cheesecake. It was way better than I thought it might be and if you like banana pudding, it’s a solid choice. My wife got the mexican coffee. Chocolate, caramel, light coffee flavor with a hint of cayenne spice. Very good also, but the pudding one was better. She got the Bruce burger — house made patty, pimento cheese, carmelized onion, lettuce & tomato. That was better than the Reuben I had which was also great. The pastrami was sliced thin and was generous with the meat. It came on marbled rye bread. Messy and delicious for sure. Had a side of pasta salad that was tasty but nothing crazy. I give this place 5 stars because the food was tasty, the cheesecake was amazing, prices were good, and the service was incredibly friendly and thoughtful. Plus they have reading material in the bathrooms if you like that sort of thing.

Everything we had was excellent. Three of us went and each had something different. All lunches came with a side and dessert too.

A great spot for homemade southern foodie food! Bruce makes it all and it’s delicious! Pimento cheese is great. Really pimento-y and good cheese texture. Quiche was yummy with sausage, tomato and basil. The bean salad was sweet and tangy – perfect! BLT and chicken salad were tasty, too. And don’t even get me started on the desserts!!! They are amazing and plentiful. We are stuffed and happy. Plus, Bruce and Barbara were delightful!

Passing through town and stopped by for a quick lunch before a meeting based on the favorable reviews, Bruce’s fabulous foods is a must-try in McDowell County. You are instantly greeted by the friendliest staff who you can tell, sincerely enjoy their jobs. You instantly feel like you are at home with family once you sit down. We were told the Reuben was one of the best things on the menu but unfortunately that wasn’t attempted by anyone in our party, next time though… I had a combo of the pimento cheese/hummus and they were kind enough to accommodate my request of veggies in lieu of pita. Some of the best homemade hummus/pimento I’ve ever had! Topped off with a cheesecake sampling at the table of chocolate chip and dulce de Leche. I ended up bringing a piece of the famous cheesecake with me as a gift to my meeting. Definitely recommend and would come back! Enjoy!

The hubby and I were renting a house nearby and stopped off at Bruce’s after a hike off the Blue Ridge Parkway. What can I say? Everything about this place is perfect. After days of traveling with the kids we were tiring of everything fried. We had Bunny’s Veggie Wrap and the Veggie Quesadilla, both incredibly fresh and delicious. We had many unique and tasty sides dishes to choose from and dessert: key lime cheesecake and banana cake! Incredible. Throw in the friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere and it was perfect. Definitely a hidden gem worth seeking out!

More than OK. I had the spinach melt and Bruce’s pasta(and three bean salad) and it was great. Wife had the pimento grilled cheese on pita with tomato soup. Kids had hummus plate and pizzadillia. Place needs a little bit of a make-over, but the service and food more than make up for it. Be sure to upgrade for $ 2 to get the cheese cake with your meal.

First time here. I got the Diablo Club that was on special and it was fabulous! It had a really good bite to it with the pepper jack cheese and their own famous spicy mayo. The special came with the Diablo club, a side, desert and tea. I chose the tomato soup as my side and the homemade brownie as desert! Everything was awesome including the friendly staff and service. If your in Marion this is a great place to have lunch! I will defiantly be back. I have a photo I will post also.

Me and my wife finally got a chance to visit Bruce’s after years of people recommending it. I’m definitely what you would describe as a «foodie» even tho most people say I fall somewhere between chef Robert Irvine and Gordon Ramsey lol. First off if you’ve never been to Marion, what the heck are you doing with your life? This little quaint town is a slice of heaven in a valley, get your a** there, seriously. When you do make a stop there be sure you make time to eat at Bruce’s. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by Bruce himself and seated in the small but adequate dinning room. Be sure to check the signs as you walk in as Bruce lists the daily specials, the side choices for the day, and most importantly, the cheesecake flavors available. The menu is fairly small(pro tip: small menus are a sign of a restaurant that spends its energy in the quality of a select few dishes vs spending their energy in a quantity of many dishes). All the selections come with a side and dessert, something I usually skip as I’m not a fan of sweet dishes. My wife chose the daily special, a meatball sub with fresh shredded mozzarella cheese on top. I chose The Brucester, a classic Carolina favorite, the pimento cheese burger. My wife said the meatball sub was good, nothing mind blowing but a good quality sandwich. I tasted it, and would gladly hand out 4⁄5 stars. The meatballs were obviously homemade, the sauce didn’t come from a can or jar, and the roll was fresh and of good quality. If I had to pick something to improve it would be the roll. It would have been fine on a lower quality sandwich but this thing had the potential to be epic, but the roll didn’t hold up to success of its contents. My burger tho gets all 5 of the stars and it wasn’t a hard decision to make. Unlike the meatball sub, the«bun» of my burger seemed to be a better quality and was able to compete with what came on the inside. I got mine with no lettuce(menu didn’t mention tomato which I don’t like, but I just removed it when I got my plate, no big deal) The Brucester comes with Caramelized onions which I rarely get cause I HATE onions, unless they are cooked well, therefore I usually hold the onions just in case they aren’t as Caramelized as I like. I took the risk on these onions because as Bruce explained his special, it was obvious that the man knows his way around food. The pimento cheese on the burger was excellent, one of the best I’ve ever had, maybe only outdone by Emma Key’s in Greensboro but that’s like finishing second in a basketball game with Michael Jordan. The burger itself was outstanding. The meat was tender, had a flavor very similar to those meatballs, and just enough grease dripping off to make it great but not the underside of a worn out Ford. My side choice was the Italian tomato soup. The soup came out a few degrees short of hell and the smell it was giving off made it very difficult to wait for it to cool so I could try it. The soup, completely homemade with chunks of tomato and garlic throughout was outstanding. There’s not a lot of adjectives I want to use to describe the soup, just go and order some, you’ll see what I mean. As I mentioned before, every dish comes with dessert. You have a choice of brownies or cookies, the dessert special for a $ 1 up charge, or his famous cheesecake for a $ 2 up charge. SPENDTHETWODOLLARS!!! There was a long list to chose from but my wife settled on the chocolate brownie chunk and I went with blueberry walnut. The chocolate brownie was just as you would expect with nice chunks of chocolate brownie that I felt was overwhelming, but I’m a hater of chocolate so it was probably perfect for chocolate fans. I was assured by Bruce that the blueberries were picked fresh by Bruce himself(the reason I chose the blueberry walnut) and noticing the purplish color and not the bright blue shade of production blueberries, I’m sure he was being honest. The cheesecake is PERFECTION. You can taste the high quality, and more importantly, the passion of the chef that poured themselves into its production. Before you leave, I suggest you buy a whole cheesecake to take home and go for some different flavors. I saw a peanut butter and jelly that I will make a trip back for, and I will have to order one of his other special flavors that he has on his cheesecake menu cause they’re plenty of ones that I MUST critique in the future. The staff at Bruce’s Fabulous Foods was very professional tho maybe a little over worked. Our drinks ran low but no fault of the staff as they were hard working and attentive but just a little to busy to keep up with the demand. Everyone there had a positive attitude, a big smile, and a friendly disposition. Things you can’t get away with not having in the south lol. I went into my journey at Bruce’s with VERY high expectations, which is usually a death sentence for restaurants, but Bruce’s lived up to and exceeded those expectations.

This place was amazing! We stayed at paddy creek camp grounds and drive here for lunch. Not only was the food excellent the service was unlike anything you ever see. All waitresses help each other and they genuinely seem very happy. Bruce was behind the counter singing, and brought us our food and came to make sure we liked it. We had the hummus appetizer, the Brucester burger and vegi quesadilla. The sweet potato corn chowder was amazing, it was very creative. Id say all the food here was very well thought out its different but so good. I would definitely say this place is a MUST even to drive 45 minutes to.

I sat at the counter during lunchtime and received great service. The menu had everything from boursin club sandwiches to pimento cheese burgers. I ended up with the pimento burger melt, cucumber salad and a piece of cheesecake. I didn’t have enough room to eat The hummus so I took some togo for tonight; as well as another piece of cheesecake. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants some good food in a little downtown mountain town of North Carolina.

Great little lunch spot. My staff took me to lunch here. I had the Boursin Club(turkey, ham, bacon, Boursin spread) on sour dough. It was very tasty. My side was the«Texican» red skin potato salad — it had corn, beans and Mexican spice base in it. My friends had the Black and Bleu burger and the Poor Man’s Reuben — they both agreed that the Reuben was the winner of the two. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The portions were generous. You can upgrade your desert to cheesecake. We tried the Pecan Praline(yummy) and Banana Berry Almond(the banana base was a little too dense for my personal tastes and I don’t care for Blueberries — when I heard the word Berry I thought Strawberry, but alas they were blueberries). Next time I’ll just try the plain NY style. Great place to have a relaxed lunch.

This is as good as it gets for a hometown diner. Wonderful service, and owner the personally visits your table, gives you a big hug and tells a story or two. The food is wonderful and tasty. Not straight diner fair. With every order you get a dessert, or better yet, bump it up to a slice of cheese cake. Get Guy here #Dinersdriveninsanddives. BTW Bruce wants to put his stamp on the Webster Dictionary by having them publish one of his famous new words like Caulicrocolli.
