A must stop every time I am in Marion NC. The Calabash Chicken is by far the best strips I have ever eaten and the only ones I am truly a fan of. Portions are always good and filling and the crew is attentive and fun.

This place will make you FAT! The the«bread» is actually donut holes. You could bounce s quarter off the soup. Don’t get me wrong… The food is good! It is just terribly unhealthy. If you eat here to much you will have a heart attack

When the first thing it off the servers mouth is «We are out of the only good food we got» well that pretty much done it for me

My group and I were heading home from a day on the Blue Ridge Parkway and decided to give this plave a try. We got a complimentary dessert and appetizer totally not expecting it. Our waitress was extremely personable and did so well. She was vey personable and we loved laughing with her. I had the parm crusted chicken with penne pasta. The chicken was cooked perfect. And final note: I am real picky about bathrooms. Thank you for having a clean bathroom fully stocked. Thank you for a wonderful first time experience Christine.

Calabash chicken is excellent with a large portion. Spinach salad was very very good and again a good portion. All you can eat ribs BBQ style were a «7 out of 10» according to our friends. Waitress Mickela was very friendly and very attentive but no t over the top

Given the challenges of finding sit down dining in Marion, we are regular customers here. The food varies from okay to yummy but we’ve never had even slightly bad service. Even if the waitperson is new, they are all friendly and the manager makes regular rounds of the dining room instead of hiding somewhere in the back.

Spent $ 25 on takeout calabash chicken was finger size and hard. potato soup had no potatoes in it. never again. Oh one time soured potatoes(they are frozen people) .and the manager was grilling my steak and overcooked. Over priced they get you on the sides.

Good place for a quick lunch. I eat there about 1 – 2 times a month. I used to get the fish and chips. Nice mild and always hot. However, in the last 6 – 12 months I noticed that the protion size has shrunk; the pieces used to be much bigger. So unfortunately I stopped ordering it; I miss you fish and chips! Now I order their pick two or three lunch combos. They have great Blue Cheese dressing(on the house salad) and a killer soup called«Tuscan Tomato». Pair that up with a half a club sandwich and it’ll be more than you can eat. And of course their rolls– those golden fried bits of dough. Tip: get there at 11AM to beat the lunch crowd.

After a less than acceptable experience, the manager invited us back for a second chance. This time around was much better! Most of us from my party ordered the steak and shrimp meal, it could have included some more shrimp, but it was very good none the less. This steak had a great taste, much better than our previous experience. Our waiter was Amir, and he was very attentive to our needs, no one ever ran out of drink, and anything we asked for, he was more than happy to help, He was also very friendly and didn’t rush us which was great. I am very impressed with the fact that the manager of this FATZ went above and beyond to try and make right after a bad experience. We celebrated my sisters birthday during this visit, and it came included with a desert of her choice and a birthday song. Very happy with this visit.

Needs some management shakeup. Outside waiting area was dirty. Table next to us hadn’t been cleared when we walked, in and still filled with leftovers when we left. Waiter brought my honey her drink order than asked me if wanted a drink. I reminded him that we had both ordered a drink when we first sat down.

When my family entered Fatz Café we really didn’t know what to expect. It wasn’t long before we realized that we had made the right choice to dine there. The news that it was our first visit seemed to spread like wildfire from the Host who seated us, to the waiter to a member of management. We were treated to a delicious sampler by our waiter and later a member of management approached our table telling us that he had heard it was our first time there. His conversation was warm, sincere and appreciative. Before we left he sent over a complimentary peach cobbler with pecans and ice cream. Yummm! Do these folks treat all of their new visitors this way? I think so. It was so well orchestrated that it put our first impression in the world class service category. We ate at the Marion North Carolina location. My sincere thanks to Justin our waiter and Jayson Tieg, the member of management who thanked us for coming in and showed us that they appreciated our business. Nicely done!

We’ve eaten here twice, mostly out of desperation. The town of Marion does not afford one very many choices in terms of culinary arts. Our hotel recommended this spot, so we thought, okay, we’ll give it a shot. On our first visit, I had the shrimp and grits, which were pretty good. The service was good. My sweetie had half rack of ribs and steak. He loved them both. So when we returned to the same hotel, we thought, why not? This place is a safe corporate bet in a sea of mom-n-pop shops that showcase fried chicken and country cookin’, almost exclusively. Sadly, our second visit, we opted to try the value menu, which offered an appetizer and two entrees for a value price. One word: Ew! The fish reserved its spot on the value menu with the, «I’ve been in the freezer forever, so make me a special» flavoring. My meal was very blah. Lesson learned. Value food comes with some unspoken prices, namely taste. We will skip this spot next time and venture out into the risky country-fried culinary landscape.

Unparalleled service continues to be the norm at Fatz, but this is the first time I have left unimpressed with the food. We always make it a point to try and visit a Fatz when visiting the Carolinas and certainly look forward to an amazing meal. However, this location simply wasnt on par with the other restaurants we’ve visited. Dont know if its a new location, changed recipe, or exactly what the circumstance was… but the food left us wanting to visit another Fatz to get the amazing calabash chicken, soups, and bread. Meal simply tasted«off» by Fatz standards. On the plus side, Fatz still has the most friendly and attentive wait staff of any moderate priced restaurant. They get you taken care of and make you feel at home while they do it. I still love Fatz and just hoping my visit was an off day…
