Order the cheeseburger pizza! They may not have it listed on the menu but you can still order it. Best cheeseburger pizza I have ever had. The crust was not soggy and the combination of mustard and pickles made this pie.

My family had the famous double decker pizza(supreme) and were very pleased. I do not like supreme pizza so I tried the steak Asiago and garlic ravioli and it was phenomenal. We all really enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Also as are out of towners not locals if that means anything.

Stopped while on a road trip. we were the only outta towners. Large menu and lots of tasty options. Most people around us had pizza, but we had the bruschetta appetizer, spinach salad and flat-iron sirloin. Steak was very well cooked and perfectly seasoned. Bruschetta was very fresh, as was the salad bar. Nice people and reasonable prices for solid food. Great place overall

This place is a Marion institution. If you’re from the Marion area, chances are you’ve tried Walt’s pizza at least once. This place is famous for their double decker pizza and there’s even the shirts to prove it. I personally have never understood what all the hype is about. The pizza is nothing to write home about and the prices are rather ridiculous. Why would someone pay so much for a plate of nacho chips covered in cheese? I’ve tried many dishes here and nothing is incredibly flavorful. The service has always been terrible. The servers have bad attitudes and the whole atmosphere leaves much to be desired. The décor is so outdated and it’s very dark inside. I’m young and believe it’s too dark… I can only imagine what people much older than me must think in there! I almost feel like I need a flashlight in there. Walt’s is overrated and overpriced. I’ve gotten better pizzas at Domino’s!

The ambience was nice. But like Gus said in Lonesome Dove, «I can’t abide a surly barkeep.» Nothing says Surly Barkeep like the sign on the salad bar that I took a photo of. I used to meet friends there all the time. I don’t even like Ranch Dressing that much. But the attitude of the sign kind of gave me indigestion. I will return when forced by meetings. But no way will this place be my choice of eateries.

We did carry out from Walt’s during an overnight rest stop on a cross country road trip. Looking at the menu and reviews online, we went with one of the special think crust pizzas ~ the California and then an order of toasted ravioli. Pizza was good, crunchy and perfectly cooked. This pizza had an olive oil sauce and it was nicely seasoned. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for some local, yummy food!

Came on a Friday night. The server was super nice, but the food was very slow, and only so so. Would probably not come back. Disappointing.

Hmmmmm. Let’s see… came in and decided to go with their famous pizza. Opted for the garden pizza which is all veggies on thin crust. Not bad. Wish the description would have listed that it did not have any sauce. The salad bar was decent. But no options for at least semi-healthy dressings. Even the Italian was more of a creamy one. The most upsetting thing during the visit was the service. Waited over 25 mins for my pizza(size small), one for the server to come out and say that she forgot to hit«send» on my order and that it would be another 10 mins! Ugh! She apologized and then took soda and salad off the bill. Overall not a bad place.

This was my first visit to Walt’s, and I was with my wife and brother. We decided to take him to Walt’s to celebrate his 17th birthday since we had participated in the«My Town Half-Price» and had a $ 20 voucher. We went around 8 or 9pm on a Saturday, so they were pretty busy. The first thing I noticed was the horrible lighting. The second thing I noticed was the group of young female employees huddled around the front podium giggling and gossiping. They seemed very inconvenienced that we came in, and just pointed to a table near them asking«Is this okay?» Which we said it was, but had I known that we’d have to listen to them babble throughout our whole meal, I would have requested a different table. The table was very low to the ground which made the whole experience even more uncomfortable and awkward. I don’t think our waitress, Jen, even attempted to smile the entire time we were there. Once we showed her our voucher, she brushed it off and said«Okay?» like we were stupid(the voucher stated that we should present it to our server upon arrival). She brought us our drinks and said«Are you ready to order?» When we told her we needed another minute, she just walked away without saying anything. The rest of the meal was just miserable. Another employee brought us our food, and I asked her if she knew our waitress’s name, and when she told me, I said«well, she really sucks.» and I explained why. She apologized, and I’m assuming she told Jen what I had said, because she finally came to refill our drinks that had been sitting empty the whole time we were eating and attempted to be(her version) of polite. Once we got finished eating, she was nowhere to be found for about 10 minutes, and when she finally walked by, she didn’t even look our way. Instead, she went over to another table and laughed and socialized for a minute until, I guess, she noticed me staring at her. It was the worst service I’ve had in a very long time… possibly ever. The food was terrible. The seafood nachos are literally a plate of Tostitos with some imitation crab, maybe 5 baby shrimp, and some shredded cheese all in one big luke-warm clump that I had to cut apart to even eat. It costs nearly $ 9.00! I have one more voucher to use, and if I didn’t care to waste money, I’d probably just throw it away. I will be sure to update when I am feeling patient enough to give Walt’s another shot.

We have had very good pizzas here in 2012 however the last two pizzas we have ordered to go in 2013 have been less than marginal. Not sure what is going on?

Rude servers, manager couldn’t care less. Sanitation is not a priority. Used bare hands to scoop lettuce for a salad, told us that policy dictates they not use gloves. Said she had washed her hands, but we watched her play with her hair prior to making the salad. When asked to make it again, she put a glove on and transferred the salad from one bowl to another and served the same salad to us. Not going back.

We were on a road trip and tired of the chain restaurants, so we stopped here. Portions were good without being too much, and everything we had tasted great. If I ever come through Marion again, I would stop here.

Good all around Marion restaurant. The best deal is to eat their lunch pizza & salad bar buffet tues-thurs. Not 100% sure on the days. They also have a great outdoor patio with live music throughout the summer. Taco nachos are very yumm, but kind of pricey.

Walt’s is a place that is hit or miss. Sometimes you get a good pizza and sometimes you don’t. The fact that the quality of pizza is varied from visit to visit has made it that I no longer go there, as I don’t know which variance I will get. Unlike other pizza places in southern Illinois, the sauce isn’t overly sweet. The cheese is nice. I also usually get sausage and it was pretty good. Again, those are on the good days. That being said, I do like the atmosphere. The staff does address your needs. Going back to the pizza, I think they are best eaten at the restaurant itself. I have had take out twice and it doesn’t taste the same. If Walt’s had more consistency, I would go there more often. Instead, the fact that it is unpredictable make is hard for me to return.

Pros Great lighting, music, homey décor, nice looking staff, and a full bar. Cons The pizza sauce and salad dressing lack flavor but ironically the steak my husband ordered was amazing!

I’ve been going here since high school and still try to find time to stop by when I’m back in the area visiting my family. Get the double-decker pizza. Yes, 2 people could probably eat a small and be satisfied, but you will want left-overs. That is all.
