One of the must eats in Marion Va. If you find your self spending the night or just passing through you must stop in and try the fish tacos. They also carry an amazing selection of micro brew beers and wine from all over. Locally owned and operated you can always find someone from town stopping in to say hi. Another big tip is to always ask about their specials. Sometimes they hit it out of the park with their short term menu items.

This is my favorite restaurant in Marion, and there are a few good ones on Main St to choose from. Every time I’ve been here the food and the service has been excellent. Today I ordered the lobster bisque and half a Caesar salad. I got shrimp added to my salad, the shrimp was perfectly cooked. My daughter ordered the coconut shrimp, which was good but I’m not a big coconut fan. I’ve had the French fries many times and they are perfect every time. They are thin and just crunchy enough on the outside, soft inside. We have had the grilled cheese, chicken tenders, pear & bleu cheese salad… everything has always been delicious. They also have a great beer and wine selection, I’ve just never been here long enough to sample.

What a great place! The desk manager at our hotel in Atkins recommended The Wooden Pickle. First, it is very attractive and cozy. Second, it is in the heart of downtown Marion, across from the Lincoln Theater. Third, the service is warm and friendly – especially Christina! Last but certainly not least, the food is amazing. I have eaten fish tacos all over the country and these were the best I had ever had. The Caesar salad was good, and Christina makes a great Cosmopolitan. Just minutes off I-81, you’ve got to try it.

Can I give it 6 stars? Simple, comfortable food and ambiance. On a really sweet main street. Good tasting healthy food.

Nice place to eat, family owned an operated. Good selection of beer, including local brewery options. The Fish Tacos are a must try when you visit. For salad lovers the strawberry summer salad topped with chicken is another favorite.

Wonderful experience! I got into town late for a 2-day meeting here in Marion. Looked on Unilocal, parked my car on Main Street and strolled to this charming place. I thought Marion would be tiny with nothing but fast food, but Main Street has some personality and what looks like some interesting restaurants. I was alone and seated at the high table in the front window. Ordered an appetizer as my entrée, the Mahi Mahi Tacos, and they were perfect in appearance, fresh ingredients, spice and taste. And a great glass of wine for $ 5, chosen from a list of «house wines» offered for $ 5 a glass. None of them were predictable but wines I was not familiar with. Then … I got to talking to the waitress to discover she is a local schoolteacher! She was very helpful and helped me choose a hotel and gave me info to prepare me for my meeting. I hope to return here perhaps tomorrow night!

I was in town for business and the hotel recommended the Wooden Pickle for dinner. It was a great atmosphere and fantastic dinner. The owner was also our server which was great because she offered to let us try out beer and wine before ordering our full drink. I had the ribeye and it was perfectly cooked to medium rare. It was a great value and I plan on going back tomorrow to try something else.

Unexpectedly delightful lunch stop off of 81. Just minutes from the highway, this place is cute and offers a good selection of sandwiches, salads and burgers. The mahi tacos were surprisingly good, well-flavored and substantial. The chicken fingers were homemade with high quality white meat and tasty, crunchy fried but not greasy coating.

The Wooden Pickle hit the spot after a long day on the road. Drove into Marion and found a nice downtown and the Wooden Pickle. Started with a local honey cream ale. Followed that up with a strawberry summer salad and grilled chicken captures panini. I was a little surprised that the grilled chicken was deli sliced chicken, but it tasted great. I would go here again if I was in Marion

My extended family has always lived in or near Marion, so when I say I know this town I mean I KNOW this town. From the beautiful courthouse to the award-winning Main Street to the mountains surrounding it, this is a small town, but it doesn’t think small. Take a look at the celebrated main street. In some towns, they are dying or dead. In Marion, you can’t walk past two store fronts without stopping to stare into a little diner, a barbecue joint, and — oooweeeee! — The Wooden Pickle. My first visit was less than a week ago and I’m back. Last time? Mahi Mahi Street Tacos. Delicious! Just the right amount of heat without that nasty burning other dishes may leave behind. Tonight it was the Confused Mac N’ Cheese. A blend of four cheeses(the ghost cheese does leave behind that burning sensation) with a well-cooked chicken breast and just the right amount of bacon.(Has anyone else noticed bacon is taking over this country?) The atmosphere of this«American Pub» is friendly, relaxed, accommodating. A perfect place to meet up with friends. If you’re going to get too loud, take it upstairs. But, really, with so many great sounding items to try on the menu, who wants to waste time fighting when you could be splitting Crab Dippers and Pub Pretzels? Personally, I’m going to fight to leave room for one of their delicious desserts. Maybe the White Chocolate & Raspberry Bread Pudding or the peanut buttery, chocolatey Landslide Mousse. I just realised the dessert menu will probably change by the next time I come in; I’ll have to start all over again!

As my boyfriend and I were driving through Virginia, we were struggling finding a place to stop, but we’re happy to find this place! We decided to sit as the bar and we’re pleased with the selection of beers. The food was pretty good! I got the mahi tacos that had a great sauce and a cabbage slaw, my boyfriend got the chicken tenders which had a light beer batter. For beers, Cam got the sweet water IPA and I got the honey cream ale that didn’t taste much like honey or cream but was really good! Great stop!

Loved the food ! The burger was delicious, the pretzels with the beer cheese were so yummy… And The Scorchin Orchard(Angry Orchard cider with a shot of Fireball Whiskey) was perfect. Great atmosphere and service, so happy to have a place like this in Marion!

Quaint little town, nice looking restaurant, service was pleasant, burgers looked great on Unilocal, and in person, but was a bit disappointed because they tasted like Burger King. Also ordered the shrimp tacos, they were fantastic but only had 2 shrimp on them, so a bit let down. Prices were good for the product though. Would def not pay more than the 6 $ that we did. Now if there were more shrimp and the burger was not a pre packaged BK burger, I wouldn’t mind paying more. Atmosphere was good, and my kid liked the grilled cheese.

Passing through Marion we stopped to grab a bite to eat. Place was very unique and food was outstanding. I had the BLT and it was surprisingly different using fried green tomatoes in the sandwich. The seating was a bit tight and our neighbors very actively listening in on our conversation but we were just grabbing lunch not discussing an acquisition of local businesses. Would eat there again in a heartbeat. Scotty

I am a local and have eaten here multiple times since it has opened. I must say that the food and service is incredible. I have tried the Brooklyn PD pizza and it was really great. Nice crust, great toppings, and enjoyable. I have had the Caesar salad and found it «ok». It has some sort of fresh brown mustard seed in it and it really didn’t fit my taste as a traditional Caesar salad eater. I guess I wasn’t expecting it and maybe with another try I would acquire the taste that the chef is developing. I have also had the grilled chicken Pannini to find it very good. But the best of all is the fish taco appetizer!!! It is truly fabulous and I encourage you to try it. I typically get the fish tacos and a house salad for my meal and I cant seem to get off of them. The dressings for the salads are great and the beer is cold. I have also eaten other items on the menu to find them very good as well. I have had a couple things happen(nothing major or worth mentioning) while visiting here and the owner was on top of her game and took care of it immediately. This whole staff is probably some of the best staff that I have ever witnessed in the restaurant industry. They all work together and take care of the dishes and ask for refills. This restaurant runs like a well oiled machine!!! If you are in Marion and would like a great place to eat this is a must!!! I highly recommend the Wooden Pickle
