First I tried the local cider. After that the ravioli with mushsrooms and local sauvignon blanc. This place is the best! Try it.

My 5 stars is for the french dip for lunch. Their BBQ sauce is a little to spicy for my tastes(I’m a spice wimp), so I keep ordering the french dip which is excellent. Good word on the dinners, but have not yet tried.

My family of 6 were lucky enough to eat at this restaurant. All of us agreed it was the best food that we have had in awhile. The staff was wonderful. Everyone was very nice, accommodating and attentive. We enjoyed it so much that we went back for Sunday(Father’s Day) breakfast.

So I wish I had the opportunity to eat here and give them more stars, However… We walked into this place before 6 pm on the Saturday before Father’s Day and asked to be seated. The hostess asked if we had reservations and we said no. She asked how many in our party and when we replied with«6» she started laughing. We didn’t think it was a problem since 90% of the establishment was empty! We decided to sit tight and see if she could get us in since my son in law from the Navy was here and wanted to eat there. She asked another hostess if we could stay and she came back and said she could squeeze us in a booth. My husband and two grandkids walked over to sit down in the booth. The older hostess literally yelled across the restaurant, «what’s going on»? I walked over to the table and asked my family to get up before this lady lost it! As we were walking back towards the door my daughter told her we would be leaving. As she was trying to talk us into staying, she blocked my daughter from walking past her… THISWASGETTINGEVENMOREWEIRD! My daughter told her not to block her from leaving and told her we weren’t staying to eat. We were mortified and embarrassed as there were a few tables already seated. This place needs to get it together. At the end of the evening we are quite grateful since we found«Savoury’s» across the street and it was AH-MAZING!!! I hope you have a talk with your hostesses about restaurant etiquette. Their behavior really can hurt your business… :(

Overpriced. $ 25 for chicken alfredo. Bland and spinach in everything. If you don’t like spinach don’t come here.

Our second night in Mariposa, we checked out this slightly funky place. It was really great. The food was tasty and the service was good. Very friendly people. We had filet mignon with lobster for two. The filet was tender and perfect. The veggies on the side were done perfectly, and the rice pilaf was very good. The only thing we didn’t care for were the red potatoes. We could have ordered a baked potato instead, and maybe should have. I would eat here again.

There a reason there’s a line out the door. Food and service is great from start to finish. Had the mussels, mushrooms, clam chowder and steak and lobster for two. Asked for medium rare and it was perfect. Great job

We visited this restaurant twice in one week on our vacation through Yosemite because it was THAT good. We went once for dinner and once for lunch. Dinner: the complimentary bread was soooo freaking delicious. I had Caesar salad(delicious) and grilled lemon chicken. So good. Husband had filet and veggies. Lunch: I had the pulled pork which was fantastic. It came with the best homemade chips I’ve ever had. Husband had New York strip steak. If you’re in the area, definitely check this place out. Service isn’t exactly prompt, since the few waitresses wait on almost all tables in the restaurant. But, the food makes up for it!

The potatoe an buttered grill have never produced a plate of hashed browns this good before. They were amazing. The best I’ve ever had. I mean it. Please if your a fan of hashbrowns make sure you go try this place. It’s a low lit high end restaurant. Normally high priced. If you show up to brunch it’s pretty affordable. 14 to 20 bucks a plate. Not including the drink. Make sure you get reservations though. There isn’t a lot of seating here witch makes it a semi quite affair. Dress nice an make sure you get the hash browns. Trust me it’s worth it.

We had an amazing dinner. We ordered one of the specials, a plate for 2 persons: filet mignon and lobster tail. We both had a choice of soup/salad and a side. We ordered: the french soup, the tomato soup, a baked potato with sour cream, butter and chives, and red skin potatoes. Everything was very good, specially the filet mignon — it had been a while since we had such a good steak, it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Given the context of where this restaurant is located(and what we have tried other nights while staying here), we believe that this restaurant deserves a 5-star rating.

This place is as good as they say. I just enjoyed the best beef stroganoff that I’ve ever had in my life. The waitstaff is super helpful and courteous. We will be coming back!

Well, it was that time of year again… Yosemite time. I didnt make it in time for dinner on the way into the valley on Friday, so I knew Sunday brunch was an absolute must. I got up early enough to watch the sunrise over Yosemite valley, hiked around a bit and hit the road just in time to arrive right at 9am… hungry. A couple buttered mini muffins, some eggs and toast, a waffle with bacon and fruit, breakfast crepes with potatoes and more fruit, and to finish it up a slice of mocha fudge pie. The waitress must have wondered where I was hiding all this food but I assure you, I ate it all. Everything was as expected, 10 out of 10. See you guys next year for my fix…

So tempted to give this place 5 stars. The food was absolutely delicious-complements to the chef– and generous portions. Great service too. The ambiance was country barn board which was ok. The bathrooms were small and the lady’s sink was stained brown. The prices for dinner ran $ 20 – 35, so the restaurant should be $$$, not the $$ advertised. Still, if we wanted a $$$ restaurant, we’d return.

2nd time we went here, so far the best restaurant in this town. Soup was good, food was delicious, cooked well. Service was superb. They were busy but was able to sit us right away. They got our orders fast. Waitress and bus oerson, hostess were friendly. Will definitely come back

My first 5 star rating. Ate here a couple of weekends ago the night before we went into Yosemite Park. The place is quaint and small but the food was outstanding. We started out with the salad which was fresh and sourced locally. Shared the filet mignon and Lobster. Steak was cooked to perfection and the lobster was excellent. The local Mariposa Cabernet(Butterfly Creek) was very good. The wait staff was very attentive and engaging. Excellent. Crème Brule & baked apple pie desserts were incredible.

Overall: Legendarily miserable service and meh-to-bad food. When we arrived, we waited about ten minutes by the«please wait to be seated» sign before anyone said anything to us, although the waitresses made eye contact with us several times. Most of the tables in the restaurant were empty. When someone did finally speak to us, she said«I’ll be with you in a few minutes.»(wtf?) Several minutes later, the same waitress said«I’ll be with you in just a few more minutes.»(seriously, wtf?). After we had been at the restaurant for 15 – 20 minutes, the waitress explained that they were running behind, and we could be seated, but it would take half an hour for our food to come out to us. In retrospect, I am grateful that she was honest. We decided to be seated, since we couldn’t find anywhere else nearby on Unilocal serving breakfast food. We waited for 45 minutes before we got our breakfast. The coffee tasted like water. The hashbrowns were burnt to a crisp. The rest of the food was meh or ok-ish. We enjoyed the nutella crêpe, though! It took half an hour to get the check, and our waitress was nowhere to be found for the last hour we were there. They didn’t apologize once and didn’t comp a single item. I only write reviews when I am shocked by a restaurant. My wife and I were shocked by Charles St.

We were recommended here by our B&B. Great service and good selection of food, portion sizes are huge! Homemade pastas are really fresh, try the specials! A little on the pricey side, unfortunately.

Walked in here after our long hike and was not disappointed. The restaurant itself was a little dark and stuffy and the décor a little old school, but it was cute nonetheless. The hostess’s dress matched the table cloth! Pretty pricey for what you get though. The burger is a whole pound of meat for almost $ 20. My friend said it was good, but the meat to bun/toppings ratio was off. I tried their pork dish. Not impressed. The meat was not well seasoned and they didn’t put enough stuffing inside, it was also very dry and overcooked. The winner is the chicken cordon bleu! Oh my goodness that was sooooo amazing! Please get this. Don’t get their french onion soup. Not good compared to other ones I’ve had. Just overlay salty beef brother with one very thin piece of crostini. Their bread was amazing and well seasoned. Lots of herbs to make it extra delicious.

Ah, the good old fashioned restaurants that the world has forgotten. Well, not quite. Mariposa sure hasn’t as this is located right it’s little cute downtown. It’s a small place, but what it lacks in size it makes up in heart. They have an extensive meat selection and it’s probably really fresh as this is cow country. I’m sure the cow you’re eating was only murdered the day before. Service was pretty good, and the meat was really great. The burger was huge and I wasn’t sure I was going to survive the ordeal, but I made it through the skin of my teeth. Portions are huge here and you get every single pennies worth. If you’re in the area you need to try this place. Plus, there is a video on this page that tells you do to do so! Listen to the video! He’s right.

Really great service all around. The locals who work here are all very sweet and want you to have a great dining experience. That said, this is one of the only restaurants in town especially later at night unless you want pizza or Subway. That means this place gets very popular and the line is often out the door. Out of the dishes we ordered, the fried chicken plate was the best. The portions here are generous and you will be stuffed. I just thought the prices for the dishes weren’t merited by the quality of the food. My NY Strip Steak was large but lacked great tenderness and flavor. The Burger we ordered was huge but also was ho-hum. The French Onion Soup comes with a massive croûton and cheese top but it was far too salty. The pasta special w/chicken was average as well. Because we were staying at the Best Western down the street, we were given a free dessert coupon that we used to get their mud pie. It was nice but was a bit too frozen which made it difficult to eat. Overall I think Charles Street Dinner House is not that bad of an option it just happens to also be only of the only options late at night in Mariposa. They have a gentleman strumming away on guitar for entertainment and the whole place feels like a themed restaurant so it is definitely an experience. So slightly pricey and average food but tremendous, friendly service.
