Makkas Pizza

Are you guys still in business? Or just on an extended vacation? The lights have been off for the last couple of weeks.

I wish I could review this place, but every time I try to order they are closed!
Recently moved to town and wanted to give this place a try, but 3 different times I’ve called during normal business hours and no answer.
I guess I’ll eat elsewhere.

The worst delivery in town. The food is good, if it gets to you. Assuming the restaurant is even open. Several times we’ve placed orders online only to find out hours later that they are closed for vacation or for a long weekend (such as Labor day). Tonight was the final straw, we ordered (chicken wings and a sub) after an hour and a half we called and we told it was on the way and we’d get a credit if we called back when it was finally delivered. It got here a half hour later, after two hours we got our dinner. We called, and of course were told we’d have to call back tomorrow when the owner was in. The delivery guy was completely non-​apologetic. They have lost us as customers.

Gosh, sorry Makkas, your delivery guy was very nice and prompt so a two star review makes me feel guilty. Due to your very convenient online ordering system, I was able to order easily and give a decent tip and for that I’m grateful. But it just about ends there. I was babysitting in Marlborough and since I could not leave the house because of this here beloved rug rat, I needed convenience. So, two stars for the online ordering and the fast delivery. I ordered a Caesar salad, an eggplant parm sub, and a chicken cutlet sub. Let’s take the salad first. I know I’m not at a five star restaurant but MUST places have Ken’s foil packets for their dressing? I mean, really, it’s the one thing that would class up your sub shop, probably save you money, and dressing is a cinch to make! Just drop stuff in a blender and you’re set for the whole day. What’s hard about it? OK, well, Ken’s dressing it is. The salad was tiny, with «powder» for the grated cheese. Again, what’s so challenging about a bit of decent cheese? I don’t think I’m asking too much. I ordered the eggplant with hot peppers as I like to spice it up a bit. They loaded it up with hots in such a way that I could hardly eat the sub. It had a ridiculous amount of hots on it. It masked any flavor of eggplant and cheese. I had to dissect the sub and try my best to find something to eat that was not drenched in hot red pepper. Granted, I requested it, but anyone who knows his way around a kitchen could figure out how much is too much. As for the chicken cutlet, it tasted a little as if it had hung out in the freezer too long prior to being dropped in the fry-​o-​lator. I had no qualms about serving it to a child, but this child is a very eager eater and she would not eat it. She loves just about everything you give her, and what kid won’t eat a chicken cutlet? Well, my little friend would not. She ate part of the sub roll and a little of the lettuce from the salad. Otherwise, after a few dice-​sized bits of chicken she refused the rest. I don’t eat chicken, but just to make sure, I had a little bite and found it tasteless and dry, hence my «too long in the freezer» theory. So I wound up making my little gal a scrambled egg, which I should have done in the first place. As for the online ordering and delivery, this is a good place to go if you are feeling lazy or drunk or a bit of both on any given evening in the Marlborough area. Otherwise, I’d avoid it.

We have been living in marlborough for about a year now and have yet to try makkas. Whoever answered litterally HUFFED when we ordered delivery. We ordered a calzone, salad, sub and app… for $ 33 dollars? way over priced
now i wanted a roast beef sandwich (like kellys roast beef or nicks) saw a warm roast beef but it was not what i bargined for. To be honest it was nasty soaked in bbq sauce and no cheese (i asked for swiss)
besides that it took about and hr to deliver and was cold…
we will never order from here again.

I used to be huge fan of this place. The pizzas are really good. I have been a loyal customer for 5+ years since I’ve moved to Marlborough. My family has placed ordered for 15+ pizzas when we have parties at our house.
However, this past weekend, I call in to order 12 pizzas and was greeted by an EXTREMELY rude owner. They have a deal for that gives you a free cheese pizza if you buy 3 pizzas. I always place large orders with these guys where they overlook the rule of one deal per order. I can always play the game of putting in 3 separate orders to get the deal, but why waste the time — I have been a great customer for a long time.
Anyway, I order 9 of the specialty pizzas that they charge a premium for. So I ask the guy to throw in the 3 cheese pizzas. He immediately gets extremely angry and rude with me. Instead of saying, «Sorry I can’t do that» he replies back saying, «I’ll give you 2, do you want it or not?» He goes on about being in the business for 30 years and all this BS which I don’t really care about, I just want my pizzas. How do you talk to a long time customer like that for 3 cheese pizzas that cost him no more than $ 5. The other 9 I would be paying for were easily $ 150. I would not gladly taken the 2 free cheese pizzas if he talked to me like a valued customer instead of getting all pissy with me.
I will never be doing business with these guys again.

Ugghh! Call up to place an order, the guy was rude. Tells me it will be 30 to 45 minutes for delivery. An hour later guy finally shows up with pizza, ask where my soda is, it’s in the car, really? You know the cardboard box the pizza comes in? I think that’s what they use for the pizza. Cardboard, little sauce, nasty cheese, drizzle some grease on it, Bam!

I have been looking for a decent pizza place in Marlborough, and alas, after ordering from Makkas, STILL have not found one :(I’m not even expecting all that much, but this pizza was straight up BAD. I ordered one «gourmet» pizza, and one small with 2 toppings. Total for both was around $ 23, which is a decent price, but boy, the pizza is gross. To start with, the «gourmet» pizza I ordered was supposed to have spinach, mushrooms and caramelized onions. Not sure if they made me the right one or not, because there were no mushrooms to speak of (literally, there were none), and the onions were absolutely not caramelized (putting onions on a pizza and cooking it does NOT caramelize an onion…). There also was a very strong taste of feta cheese mixed in with the sauce… not sure what’s going on there, but there was certainly no mention of it in the description. Second pizza I ordered (black olive and meatball) was sub par. Toppings were right, but that’s about it. Sauce was boring and uninspired, as well as way too salty (feta again??). Again, I’m not expecting gourmet in Marlborough, but c’mon, how hard is it to make a decent pizza? The only plus to this restaurant is the speed and friendliness of the guys working there. Tempted to give 2 stars because of this, but as I sit here writing, my stomach is convincing me not to.

Makkas is great the service is amazing, and the food is some of the best I have had (for a pizza place). I know a pizza place is a pizza place but I always find my self going back. They always have good deals and the food is always fresh and fast.
The only issue I have with this place is there Gyro’s, they serve them in a wrap or sub roll and not the traditional pita bread, being this place is VERY Greek I find it a little odd. Also its not lamb or beef like it should be (I always get chicken as Its spiced right).

Awesome pizza! When I lived in Marlborough I frequently ordered a pie to go for dinner. My favorite was a cheese pie with spinach, sun dried tomatoes and feta.

If you’re looking for the fastest pizza delivery around, then look no further. Makkas is so speedy and their pizza is quite good.
Tip: Do not order the steak tip salad, the steak tips will be nothing close to what you’d expect.
I’ve only gotten delivery but they’re always friendly and prompt. I’m quite likely to order again.

VERY good pizza. I ordered a large Veggie Pizza which was superb with onions, LOTS of black olives, peppers, and mushrooms. Sooo fresh, so good… We also ordered a large pizza with jalapenos which had seeds and all = HOT AND SPICY man! And yummy!
They only lose one star for boring onion rings. We’ll be ordering pizzas from here again. Oh yeah…

Tried this about 3 months ago because it was on the way home. Crust was probably the worst I have ever had. It felt as if I was eating corrugated cardboard with cheese. Worst pizza experience so far. Save your money and go somewhere else.

We ordered food last night (one sub, one pizza, one calzone, one 2 liter diet coke). We were quoted 50 minutes. The food arrived 20 minutes late and was COLD. Not even room temperature, but COLD. The sub had the wrong condiments on it. The driver forgot the diet coke until we asked. The driver didn’t have change for our cash. The pizza wasn’t good, and not just because it was cold. The calzone was alright, and the sub was COLD and like I said, made incorrectly. When we called back to ask what could be done, the manager was rude, and told us we could order and pay to have the order redone. He would not remake our food or refund us. We offered to return the cold food and they could send out fresh, correct, hot food for us, and the manager said «I’ve been doing this for over 30 years, I can’t give you free food. I’ll put on your account that you get a discount next time you call.» Then he refused to tell us what the discount would be. We were not requesting free food, just edible food. What horrible service. Will never find out what the «unspecified discount» is, because will never call back to be treated like this again and waste money on inedible food.

I always have a wonderful experience with Makkas. I love their Spanaki Pizza and Baklava. It’s our «usual» pizza takeout place. They are always quick! Thanks, Makkas!

Well, I didn’t even get a chance to order the pizza because they told me that I could not order 2 specials. (#7). I had my neighbor over to watch a movie with us and she was going to bring a pizza home for her son. The employee would not deliver the order to my house. He told me that he would not even deliver 1 pizza to my house and the other to my next door neighbor. I hung up with him and told my neighbor to call herself, so she used my phone. As soon as Makkas pizza answered he started yelling and calling her names. I dont know why an employee would act this way. We just wanted to order dinner. Anyways, he then called my phone back and I let it go to voicemail becuase I was ordering pizza from Sal’s, the best pizza in Marlborough. When I listened to the mesage, he spoke with a heavy accent and was fast talking but I could understand a little. He said that he was the manager and that he gave my number to the police, and thats all that I understood. I did nothing wrong, I ust wanted some dinner. Anyways, I will never order from here ever. I love pizza and just wanted to try a new place. Looks like I’m sticking with Sal’s.

Good Greek-​style pizza. They changed their crust recipe lately and I don’t think it’s as good as the old one. I recomment the Spinaki (spinach and feta) pizza.
