I have been here a few times but last night was the worst experience. The tempura was under-cooked and although they were not crowded the service was very poor, we hardly ever saw our waiter. Very disappointed.

Hands down best sushi I’ve had! We didn’t sit at a hibachi table but we could hear it from the other room and it seemed like the chefs are really interactive. Will def be going back for hibachi some time in the future. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was nice. They have the best selection of sushi rolls I’ve ever seen. I checked out a few different places before choosing this for a b day dinner solely based on the roll selections. Everything was super fresh!!! We had two mixed drinks — the geish geish and lado? They were really good and had plenty of alcohol. Sushi rolls where the Lynn roll, Casino Roll, Green Pearl Roll, and the Shaggy dog roll.

I’m updating my this review because I have decided no longer to visit this establishment. The last several times I have been here, it’s service and food have gone downhill. I had dirty plates. Glass of water served to me with food in the bottom of it. Undercooked meat in an appetizer. Hair in my entrée. Server that forgot to put our order in. Just one thing after another… And I hate that I have to do this, because I LOVED this place. Shame.

Mikado is honestly a hidden gem, and my all time favorite Japanese restaurant. I have been coming back for almost 7 years and have not been disappointed once. Hibachi is wonderful for parties/family gatherings and the sushi dining area is top-notch. Service is always prompt and pleasant. Some of my favorite sushi rolls are the Casino, Godzilla, and Lynn Rolls. The Green Salad with ginger dressing is also a must.

My fiancé and I ate here today on a recommendation and it was absolutely delicious. We ordered several sushi rolls, which were perfect, and a bento box that included their Japanese curry. Everything was extremely flavorful and fresh. We also ordered some of the house sake and that did not disappoint either. I really liked the ambiance of this restaurant and the artwork on the walls is pretty cool. The staff was nice and highly accommodating. We will without a doubt be coming here again and I can’t wait to try their other menu items.

horrible. the chef repeated my order correctly when he arrived to the table but forgot to bring my. he asked everyone else at the table who had steak how they wanted it cooked and they all said medium well. I like my steak cooked medium rare ad tried to inform the cook but he was too busy cooking to pay me any attention. My sister also tried getting his attention but was also blown off. I told the waitress that I also ordered steak and she ran to the chef to whisper in his ear… the result was that I got a smaller portion of steak cooked medium well. Not one person caught the zucchini in their mouth as all of it went over our heads… The chef also went around the table with sake(spelling???) shots and forgot me… again. I am 25-years-old and had a wine with my dinner so I am clearly of age to drink. Not fun to have to be left out with your food order and the whole show. Heads up everyone, go to Bonzai. They give you tastier and bigger portions and are cheaper. The chefs also know what they are doing there.

Really great sushi just really overpriced. The bar is a plus and the outdoor seating is nice and quiet. Nice for a spring or summer afternoon.

Only been here for lunch on weekdays– it’s kind of dark and quiet, not many people here for lunch during the week it seems. The service is good, but the freshness of food is a little better at the Cherry Hill location.

Had Hibachi here once and bento boxes from their lunch special menu a few times. Lunch has been tasty each time and comes with alot of food! Good bang for your buck. Been feeling in the mood for some Hibachi. so might visit them again in the near furture. :)

Went in on a Saturday for my mothers birthday — booked a hibachi table for 4 people. Giving it only 2 stars for atmosphere, service, and value. And that is being generous. The lunchtime atmosphere is very different from dinner. Dark, quiet, and the staff seemed like they didn’t want to work. On Saturdays they only serve the dinner menu, which would be fine if the service was up to par. The server was not attentive. Waited over 10 minutes just to get drinks and we were one of only 2 tables there. Food was good, as always, but what really set me off was the bill. After overpaying for lunch, 18% gratuity was added to the bill for only 4 people. Really explains the poor customer service doesn’t it? I will not be back, even for dinner just on principle.

This was the first time that my kids had been to a Hibachi restaurant and they loved it! Mikado does an excellent job. The restaurant was crowded on Saturday evening and they sat us right at our reservation time. I started off with a rainbow roll. It was well prepared, rolled tight, and the fish tasted fresh and delicious. When there is a long wait, you can order sushi at the bar while you wait. I would recommend asking for dressing on the side for the salad. The dressing has a strong flavor and they put a lot of dressing on the salad. I have had better miso soup, but that is not we were there for — right! We all got the Hibachi. We had steak, scallops, shrimp, and strip steak. Everything was delicious and, of course, the show was entertaining and well done. I thought the chef that took care of the table next to us had a little more energy, but our chef did his job well. The only reason Mikado got 4 stars instead of 5 is because the waitress/busboy service was not good — slow and in attentive through every part of the meal. Slow to bring drinks, not request for a second round or water refills. Plates were not cleared throughout the meal. Check and change was slow. All in all, a great and entertaining night out with the family. A little on the expensive side compared to most casual dining, but the entertainment is worth it — with great sushi on top.

We were in the area visiting my brother and were craving sushi, and after some Unilocal research, we decided to make a reservation for Mikado. Although they have a hibachi area with grills that looked fun, we were in the mood for sushi and not sitting with strangers(always a crap shoot when it comes to hibachi for me). The hostess promptly sat us in the main dining room area, which looks upon the sushi bar and the kitchen. This place is pretty big with lots of tvs. They have a decent wine list as well as some specialty drinks. We ordered the gyoza as an appetizer, which were delicious! Nice thin dumplings with a flavorful sauce, seared just enough on the bottom(although we did request them well-done). The sushi menu is extremely overwhelming. If you are looking for specialty rolls(which we were), there are 57 of them. 2 pages, front and back. I threw up my hands and left my fate up to my husband, who studied the menu intently and ended up ordering 5 rolls. We had the Godzilla, Exotic, Rona and Brad, Sexy Lady, and some sort of spider roll which I can’t find on the online menu. It actually just took me 5 minutes of reading the online menu to remember which ones we had! Crazy! All were delicious but pretty large to the point where I couldn’t eat a few of the pieces in one bite, which I find awkward with sushi. We were completely stuffed by the end of the meal. I enjoyed Mikado and would return if I was in the area craving sushi again.

Great atmosphere! The hibachi was amazing and fun to watch. I had the chicken, it was tender and delicious. The rice was good and salty, with just the right amount of stickiness. I think next time I go, I’ll get some of the sushi because it looked amazing.

I think the theme for this restaurant is: HUGE. Everything was over sized. The actual restaurant, the bar, the cocktail list, the specialty sushi menuS, the TVs, the actual sushi rolls… everything was bigger than I expected. That being said, all of the food we had was very good. The dumplings weren’t too doughy and had a nice sear on the outside(picture posted). As for our sushi, it was delish(picture posted). I also liked that the sushi was very sturdy — it didn’t fall apart like some pieces do when you dip them in soy sauce. Our waitress was also very attentive, but we were like the only people in the joint, so I’d be surprised if she weren’t. Solid B+.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this place yet! I’ve been coming here for sushi for years and have never had an bad meal. It’s easily one of the best Japanese restaurants in the South Jersey area. Always consistent, always fresh. There’s quite a few specialty rolls too. This is also one of the few Japanese restaurants that has a liquor license. On some nights, the bar area is actually more packed than the restaurant.

UPDATE! This is my second review for Mikado, and as always, the food is AMAZING. The service was so much better this time around. DONOTMISSTHEWHITESWANROLL. The scallops are so sweet, it’s like eating candy. Amazing. For an appetizer, do not pass up on the yellowtail neck. It’s perfectly fried, and the fish meat is just so incredibly tender and sweet. Be careful, because you do have to pick through the bones, but chopsticks do the work for you. The bar is ALWAYS hopping, so check it out! It’s usually an after hours business crowd, so if you’re coming in a t-shirt and shorts, expect to feel a bit out of place. I always order the sake, and it’s always piping hot and lasts me well through the entire meal. I am thoroughly in love with this restaurant. I have done the hibachi once, and it definitely was fun. Postface: All of my reviews and the number of stars I give are in direct comparison to other similar restaurants. Diners to diners, steakhouses to steakhouses, fine dining to fine dining, dives to dives. I hope everyone will give the same consideration when rating any establishment!

THEBESTSUSHIRESTAURANTINSOUTHJERSEY!!! Let’s start with what’s most important: Food FOOD: Quality/Taste — Excellent. Period. I speak mainly of the sushi rolls. I’ve had their Hibachi. One of the better in the area. It is the best sushi in SJ. Fresh fresh & ingredients, great sauce combinations, a huge menu of specialty rolls. For the appetizers: the watercress is really good. A great sauce, but the portion size is also good for 2 people. Their green salad has great dressing. It’s one of the best dressings for a Japanese restaurant that I’ve had in awhile. My particular favorite rolls are: Spicy Tuna(and ask for extra spicy mayo sauce on top), Godzilla Roll(specialty roll), Philly Roll, etc. If you love spicy tuna, ask them to make you a spicy scallop roll(made the same way). It’s not on the menu, but they will make it for you at the same price as spicy tuna. SERVICE: Service is good. On a busy night, service can be slow, but all the servers are courteous and are very knowledgeable about their food, tastes, etc. ATMOSPHERE: Friday and Saturday nights are their busiest. They have a bar, with bar stools, but an upscale style bar. Plenty of seating for hibachi grills and non-hibachi grills. The décor is modern and kept very clean. PRICES: Check out their website. Prices are fairly reasonable, some might say slightly pricey, but it depends on what you are getting. Open 7 days a week. Closed Superbowl Sunday. I only write for the Marlton location. I cannot speak on behalf of the other locations. Enjoy!
