Mars Area Public Library

The Mars Library is a hidden gem. We have been coming here for about 10 years and have watched it grow as are children grow. They offer a comprehensive Summer Reading program that helps to keep our kids motivated to read all summer. Kids can earn prizes and entries into grand prize drawings for every five books read and reviewed. They host fun educational programs that are entertaining for all ages from toddlers to adults that are related to the summer theme. Last year we got to pet live possums rescued from the wild. This summer my kids are looking forward to meeting a parrot while learning about birds. They have a great selection of books for all ages, inexpensive movie rentals, lots of current magazines, and free electronic books to download from their website to a Kindle or iPad. The staff here is always friendly and very helpful. The Mars Library is the place to go for education & entertainment, especially for families with children. We love our library!

OK, I have to admit that I’m partial to Mars Library in part because its NOT the Cranberry Library and it means I don’t have to put up with Rte 19 or Rte 228 construction and traffic. Sure, the selection of material is larger in Cranberry but with the Butler County Library website, my requests for books can have them waiting for me in Mars instead! So it’s simple! Plus the ladies at the Mars branch are far more friendly and accommodating. I like that!
