On the positive side the service was pretty good and attentive, drink service was good although slightly expensive($ 9 for Guinness?) the restaurant itself also has a nice environment. The food however was something else, I would think they were having an off day but based on other reviews I’m assuming this is how their food always is. The«calamari» was essentially fish sticks served in a basket. The ribeye steak was incredibly over seasoned and so salty you could hardly taste the steak, the potatoes were obviously instant potatoes and the gravy tasted like it was straight from a can. Even the salads were unpleasant the dressing seemed to be half water. If your looking for heated frozen food Applebee’s does a better job with it

Very disappointed with our dinner! We use to love eating at OS2, but have been very disappointed with the food and the service the last few meals. I ordered the petite sirloin that was very chewy. The asparagus was barely cooked and I received only 5 very very small pieces. The mashed potatoes were instant potatoes that tasted just like cafeteria food. We were never offered bread and only received a glass of water after several requests. I really hope they improve their food soon. I miss having a decent place to eat.

We like a lot of items on the menu! Some things are pricey but there are reasonable things too! The pizzas, burgers, French dip sandwich.. . All delicious! We sit in the pub so we can catch the live music too. My husband loves the steak! The bar staff is quick and friendly!

OS2 has great food – but can be a little slow/forgetful. We appreciate their vegan menu and sometimes order extras just to bring home. The grilled portabella is amazing – slathered in W sauce and cajun spices before grilling. I have a hard time deciding what to get on the vegan menu because it is all so good. When you’re on the restaurant side, they can be slow/forgetful when it comes to drinks. It seems they’ve had a few new recruits lately that are still learning the ropes. But if you can get the head hostess who has been there for years(I believe her name is Laurie), she is incredibly attentive and you’ll have an amazing experience.

Been checking up on my old reviews. I’d have to say that OS2 has slipped a notch. The food seems more inconsistent that it has in the past. Service is still reasonably good, but occasionally slow.

My family and I were in Marshall for their light show over the holidays. Most of the places in the area were closed, but OS2 was open and it was right across from the Courthouse, where we were waiting for the light show to start. I ordered the lobster bisque, which was overly salty and had no lobster in it, and the country fried chicken. The chicken was good, again on the salty side, but the mashed potatoes came out cold! You could tell they were not made in the kitchen but some prepared mashed potato package, which was not warmed properly. My dad got the grilled chicken, which also was on the salty side. My mom got a burger, which was probably the best item we ordered. My favorite part of the meal was the complimentary rye bread that came out in the beginning on a cute little butcher block. Overall, the food was not good, but the location and the service were excellent!

Excellent service! Seafood entrees were all well prepared. Steak seemed a little overcooked. Everything ordered medium was closer to medium-well. Deserts were delicious! Chocolate silk pie was excellent! Great dining experience for a small town.

We were so excited to check out this restaurant to celebrate a 40th wedding anniversary in the family. Our group of five didn’t have to wait for a table and received a great spot at the front of the restaurant. That’s about as good as it got though. We ordered drinks and appetizers and while we received the drinks pretty promptly, it took us nearly 45 minutes to receive an appetizer(which was cold and looked like something a high school home-economics class could have made). Still no sign of our soup, salads or waiter for that matter. After discussing the issue with a hostess, we still sat waiting for several more minutes before we left before even ordering dinner. We were so disappointed in the experience and won’t be returning.

For Marshall, Texas this is about as good as you are going to find. The food was good, not great. The service ranged from really good to adequate. The atmosphere was part steakhouse, part dive-bar. My friends asked what kind of beer they had. They gave them the list. One ordered a Fat Tire and the other ordered a Shiner Bock. After 10 minutes some guy came back and said they were out of Fat Tire. About 5 minutes later, he came back and said they ran out of Shiner Bock mid-pour. Huh? I believe our waitress was the Manager. She was extremely courteous and efficient. We had ten kids and ten adults. They got orders taken and food delivered promptly. The food was mostly good. Everyone at the table seemed to enjoy their meal. It was so inexpensive, we all sort of thought they made a mistake on the bill. If I were going to or through Marshall, i would have no problem stopping here. Smiley face.

Shit is awesome! Bread and butter were nothing special but the caesar was bomb and that didn’t even prepare me for how great the ribeye was going to be. Paired with the mushrooms; the steak was spot on. Im going to the attached bar next door for dessert… more to come, wish me luck!

It’s really a shame the food isn’t good here. It has great atmosphere and a clean kitchen. Plain and simple… the food isn’t good and it is overpriced. I do however like their bar.

Marshall’s downtown is undergoing a bit of a renaissance, and OS2(«OS squared») is clearly part of that. The restaurant is beautiful inside. It has that 100-year-old feel to it, which is fantastic. The before dinner cocktails were okay; the wine list was weak. We ordered a bottle and were presented with a list replacement instead. Our appetizer was stuffed mushrooms, and one of them was rancid — NOT good. We were more perplexed by the la-te-da attitude shown when we notified management about it — «Oh, we’ll take that off your bill.» We would have rather heard, «Sorry about that — we’ll find out what is going on with our stuffed mushrooms… may we offer you something else?» The entrees were a mixed bag. The tenderloin medallions were at once cooked perfectly and badly, which told us they were probably from two different cookings. The grilled salmon was perfect, but laid on a bed of rice that wasn’t even remotely warm. A perfect fillet of salmon, but you can’t get the rice warm? We had no patience to attempt dessert. The service, while tending to induce loneliness at times, was delightfully kind and friendly. We wish the kitchen would have at least matched the waitress. We hope that the OS2 gets it together in the kitchen. They have the service staff and atmosphere to be excellent. It’s not too late — crack the whip and get it fixed. There is no reason why I shouldn’t be able to add a few stars to this place with more attention to the most important factor: the food on the plate.

We enjoyed the bar area on two consecutive weekend nights in January. It is nice to have a relaxed, safe place to consume adult beverages and listen to tasteful live music in historic Peter Whetstone Square. For most of the 20th Century you would have been jailed for daring to enjoy yourself in such a manner in Marshall. We call this progress, and urge locals and tourists to support them. Best wishes to the owners. We will be back!

Nice atmosphere… the Lobster Ravioli is great. The bar next to it is pretty cool if you go on the weekend.

OS2 is mediocre at best and merely bad at worst. I get the feeling that the food is often assembled rather than prepared. Everything that the menu says is stuffed has the same stuffing, which isn’t really a good thing. I’ll give you that the steaks are decent, but I have to disagree with the other reviewer about the sides. They’re terrible and likely an afterthought. My so-called steamed broccoli was dried out and rubbery because it was probably microwaved. For dinner, there’s not much else going on in Marshall, so at least you can say it’s open. With some entrees priced as high as $ 30, you’ll have an infinitely better experience if you drive 15 minutes north to dine at Stillwater Inn in Jefferson. To be honest, it really wouldn’t take much more on their part to get an additional star out of me, just some attention to detail. My recommendation: pork chops, except that part of your dinner will be served in a small plastic take-out cup.
