Sweet Sabine’s is a super cute sandwich shop across the square(yes, I said square!) from the federal courthouse in Marshall, TX. I walked in at about 3:30pm on a Tuesday after court, having not eaten lunch. I was greeted immediately, and told to pick a table, any table, since the place was empty except for me. I picked a cute little table right by the window, and was brought a sample of their peach sweet tea. Now, I can’t make good food decisions when I’m hungry, and so when I was given a menu, I quickly shoved it aside and told her that I would need her to just feed me. She asked me a few quick questions, and voila! My order of the Hot Chick sandwich and a bowl of chicken portabello soup was placed! I impatiently sat around for a few minutes playing on my phone, and before I knew it, out she comes with my order. First, the presentation: My food arrived on super cute mismatched china. Think cute tea set you’d find at grandma’s. The only thing that would have made it better was if I had real glassware and utensils(they were both plastic). Second, the food: Maybe I was hungry, but MAN, the food was tasty! The sandwich had lots of great flavor, including what I was told was a house made ghost chili sauce and homemade mozzarella cheese. The chicken was tender, the lettuce and tomatoes were fresh and complemented the sandwich perfectly. The soup was equally delicious. I crumbled up the saltine crackers in it and almost licked my [cute old-timey china] bowl. Next time, I’ll see if they have bread to dip in my soup. Third, the service: From the moment I stepped in the door, I was made to feel welcome and valued. Everyone was very attentive, and made sure that I always had what I needed. Fourth, the value: This was only my second meal in Marshall, TX, so I was not sure what to expect value/price wise. But I felt that the meal I got was a fantastic value. I will surely be returning to this gem when I’m back in the area!

We stayed at the La Quinta hotel, completely exhausted. Check in clerk handed us the menu but had no recommendation. Wonderful food. The chicken salad plate had fresh fruit and veggies. The pita chips were amazing. The bacon cheese burger was«mighty fine». The loaded potato salad obviously homemade.

Sweet Sabine’s sits right next to my other favorite Marshall place(R&R coffee/bakery). I expected SS to be another bakery so I held off from going for several months. Boy was I wrong! I should have gone immediately after moving to town. Sweet Sabine’s has an amazing lunch menu. We’re vegan so we appreciate the extra vegan menu. The owner is so excited to introduce you to new tastes. She gave me samples of all the vegan foods she makes in-house. I don’t even order… I just tell her to surprise me with something on the vegan menu. Mock cranberry chicken wrap… barbeque veggie burger, vegan black bean quesadilla, greek salad with faux feta. It’s all good! They are generally open till 3pm, so its a great place to catch lunch. Wish they were open later!

While searching for some warm lunch and being turned away from another local spot because we were 15 min after lunch, the owner of this Sweet spot invited us in! I say that was advertising at it’s best! We went in and were wowed at the selection! Yummy omnivore and vegg options! Everything from burgers, sandwiches to hummus and vegan chili! We loved this place and will definitely stumble upon it again!
