fairly priced. Food was good. Liked the casual atmosphere. The wait was surprisingly long(30 – 40 minutes). If possible, make reservations. Service was good, got things right. The salad bar is basically bag salad mix with toppings and dressing, nothing extravagant. I asked them to do light butter on my scallops, which they did. Food tasted good — texas toast, grilled shrimp appetizer, asparagus, and scallops. Steak my wife had was really good(medium well NY strip).

If you are heading across I-70 stop at Sam’s Steakhouse just off exit 147. Good food, very attentive staff. They do the steak on an open grill where you can see them cooking it. My husband had a 16oz rib eye which he said was the best he has had in years. I had the salad bar. Everything was fresh and crisp. We will definitely stop in again!

Had a good steak burger and really enjoyed the options at the all-you-can-eat salad bar at this cute family-owned place.

GREAT place for the price, whether it’s steak, seafood, or appetizers. And a nice little bar. Family run place with friendly staff. My friend had steak, and he liked it. I had a swordfish dinner, and it was way better than you’d expect from a restaurant near a highway in Central Illinois farm country. Good size piece of fish, prepared well and flavorful. Dinners come with salad bar, which was a nice add-on but had limited options. I think it cost $ 15.99. For swordfish — great deal! Guy working there recommended the sauteed mushrooms app and it was spot-on tasty and satisfying. Really good. Also had the chicken wings — tasty and not overpowering. Perfectly cooked and CRISPY breading. Same guy that recommended the mushrooms was a bartender that mixed a damn good margarita! Totally worth a visit.

The fam and I went to Sam’s for the first time last week. My hopes were up as we walked in. The atmosphere was very«steakhouse-y» — you know, a lot of wood and big chunky tables, smelling like A-1…aside from a huge open grill right in the middle. This thing was big enough for Bilbo and his dwarf buddies to throw on a whole hog and get their feast on! We were seated and treated very well. I ordered the 8oz sirloin with a baked potato and salad bar. The salad bar was disappointing: lame iceberg lettuce and limited toppings. I know it’s just a salad bar, but something was very mediocre about it. The wait seemed reasonable for the rest of the food. With it being a steakhouse I was really let down with the steak. I requested medium, which is what I got. But it was tough and flavorless. I’ve had much better steaks from Applebee’s several times! The baked potato was good, but not good enough for me to return. The service was prompt and courteous. Overall, it’s an OK place. Maybe it was just me. Either way, I’ll stick with Applebee’s for a steak… and if I see Bilbo and Co., I’ll send them down the road too.

Steak quality was just ok. The service was good which is the only reason this is getting 2 stars. Be very careful of the shared steak deal as it turns out to be nearly as expensive as buying individual steaks. The menu was very deceptive on this, we pointed it out, paid the total and will never go back.

I had the all you can eat salad bar, toast dripping in butter, canned asparagus, 8 oz NY Strip, and fried mushrooms = grease, grease, and more grease! Grease exploded from each mushroom, and I could barely eat them. The steak was pretty good, but I was feeling pretty ill from all of the butter that was on everything else. Skip the asparagus — disgusting! Too grossed out to try dessert. Would never go back if I were local.

We stopped by Sam’s as a second choice, but at the end I was happy we had. I had an 8 oz New York, a baked potato, an all-I-could-eat salad plate, and a toasted piece of bread, all for like $ 12.99. The server, a young girl, was friendly and was always on top of refills. I left very full, without spending too much cash too. If you’re by Marshall and hungry, stop on by Sam’s, it’s close to the freeway exit too!
