I came here with my family for fathers day last week, and this was some of the best barbecue I’ve had In a long time. I had the pulled pork sandwich meal, which was cooked to perfection and I didn’t need any extra sauce with it. If you like sauce, fear not because they have a variety of bbq sauces to try. The employees were kind, courteous and very friendly. Even with the rush of customers and the large order from my family, they still maintained the same level of service from the beginning to the end. Needless to say, we’re coming back!

This is the third update to this review. After discussing with the owner my viewpoint I agreed to make a return visit. I did this on a Saturday afternoon and found the same people working at the restaurant that were there the 2nd time I had been there, when my visit had been problematic. The food was the same — very good. The service was pretty good. The lack of cleanliness regarding tables where people had left their plates etc. was exactly the same. I though that I had made an impression on the owner about the problems that I had experienced. I guess that was not the case. It was the same crew who couldn’t figure out how to keep the restaurant cleaned up back at it again. While they were a little bit busier than my previous visit, I feel there is no excuse for this kind of issue in a quality restaurant. As the owner explained to me «When you write a bad Unilocal review, you are messing with a person’s livelihood.» I completely agree. While the food is very tasty, there is more to the dine in experience than the food, although that is a big part. Whatever the conversation that was had between the owner and the staff didn’t work at all. I was there at least 30 minutes and saw absolutely no effort by anyone to buss the tables. To the other Unilocalers — my first visit was wonderful and both my daughter and I wrote great reviews based on that first visit. My second visit was pretty bad, although I contacted the owner and upgraded my review based on the benefit of the doubt. This review will be the rating I gave them for the second review prior to giving them a second chance. My recommendation — if you want to order here — get it to go.

If you’re wondering if you should try this place out. Just go. Seriously. It’s cute & casual seating, backyard patio bbq vibe with quality meats, seasonings, sauce and sides. The Mac and Cheese … Is what dreams are made of. We got the sample platter(comes with 3 sides) and added side of Mac and cheese and it was enough for us to try everything, and leave full(with extras to take home)! If you’re comin in hot and hungry you might be able to finish it off yourself. But it’s enough for two people, and it’s a great way to try five of their meats without committing to a single, huge portion! But honestly. If you did that you wouldn’t be disappointed because we liked every single one of the meats and sides given to us. We sat outside when the sun was setting so finding a spot without the glare is key, and it was amazing weather, great atmosphere, the people are super friendly. Good job y’all, we’ll be back!

This is the BEST bbq ever. We get the 5 meat and split it between 3 and still have leftovers. I highly recommend the bread pudding to finish the meal off. It is wonderful

Better than I expected! Their ribs are better than Kinders. Husband and I shared the platter thingy where you get to try everything. Everything was great! They had strange hours on Sunday, and are a bit pricey, but it was good quality BBQ for being in downtown Martinez. Definitely worth a try!

The fact that I can get barbecue this good just a few blocks from my house is a real treat. Good barbecue is one thing, but when it’s served by delightful, good hearted people it tastes that much better. My usual here is the pulled pork sandwich — solid every time. If you wanna go big and are with a friend, the Taster is basically a barbecue party for your taste buds. Hat tip to Rob and his whole team, you guys are amazing! Grab a seat on the back patio, it’s beautiful and well shaded on a nice sunny day!

Found this place on Unilocal!Loved! Located downtown, very cute rustic feel. They have a back patio that was very cute too, but it was just too hot to sit out there. You can sit any where you want, just walk up to counter, order your meal, and just wait for ali that goodness Loved my chicken salad sandwich. Had coleslaw and mac n cheese as side. Everything was very tasty! I liked that they also had IPAs on tap to make hubby smile. Oh he loved his sandwich as well. Didn’t need any sauces on his trip tip sandwich! Said it was perfect on its own. Would definitely come back is we’re ever headed to Napa for the weekens again!

Yes. So much yes. Chicken is so, so moist(and I know it’s not a cupcake. Sue me.), pulled pork is excellent — tasty and juicy — and sausage is delicious and not too spicy. The sauce is vinegary with mild sweetness. Mac salad — my fave and hard to find good — is better than good. Cole slaw has a interesting dressing, not creamy but flavorful(but, ugh, cilantro). The beans — get the beans!

I had the rib plate; potato salad, 2 ribs and corn bread. The food was really tasty. Even though it was only 2 ribs, they were big and juicy. The BBQ sauce they have at the table was amazing. It had a little kick to it which is something I usually look for in BBQ sauce. Potato salad was tastier than most potato salads I’ve had. It tasted really fresh, just don’t like big chunks of red potato. Corn bread was corn bread(I’m not big on it so I wouldn’t know what’s good and what isn’t). Now, the reason I gave them a 3 star rating is strictly on how they made me feel in there. I came in, they kinda greeted me. I was behind a couple and 2 guys(father and son). I ordered my food and sat down. The father and son were sitting at a table in front of me, the couple was sitting on the right of me. The waitress brought the couple their food than she brought the father/son their food. She asked if they needed anything else, that they had 5 other sauces they could try, if they needed butter, etc. You know, the usual stuff a server would ask. The manager came and dropped off my food. No «enjoy» no «did you need anything else?». I just started eating my food and watched the game, I said«not a big deal». Than I see more people come in, manager bringing food to their table, asking the«questions» you should ask to show you’re checking on their experience. The waitress would come around, ask ALL the tables«how is everything guys? You guys need anything?» But for some reason, the table in the middle, MINE was invisible I guess. I watched/listened to the waitress and manager check on these tables as I sat there eating my food wondering if I was not suppose to be eating there. The vibe was all wrong. I’m not implying anything but you know what it felt like if you’re reading this. What sucks is the food is good but not worth all the extra nonsense.

The food… okay, the intention for me trying this place out is that it says it is a smokehouse AND the proliferation of stars in the many reviews… which now seem a little suspect, I mean the place has not been around that long and it seems a little odd to me that for place with«smokehouse» in the name, the product is far from smoky. Really it’s almost undetectable, no char, not hot… absolutely anti-smoky. The links look like they were boiled I kid you not. The ribs look like they were baked, far too uniform IMO. The way you order is you wait in line and then you order, they hand you a number, you pay, take that number and find a table. Then they bring out your food. They seemed rushed and kept saying aloud how many pre-orders they had that day I assume that was to explain or discourage orders of the special that day. I say, if you have a special of the day, make enough so that your customers won’t have to think twice about ordering it, I certainly do not want to feel like I am creating an inconvenience by ordering the special and I don’t want to be penalized with an extra long wait time for what is being offered as a special. So I told the person behind the counter that I had not ever been there before and asked said I prefer to have a glass of wine instead of a canned drink and she said, Okay but you still get a «free» drink with your dinner. My dining companion got a really small, piece of «cornbread» which was more like«corn cake» with his meal, I did not get one… which was totally okay after I tasted it. Cold and wet, no thanks. I ordered a chicken plate which came with macaroni salad and my friend got a 3 meat platter and a side order of sausage. Also, I thought I had ordered macaroni and cheese as a side but macaroni and cheese is not offered as a choice for a side with the meal so I paid extra and got it. The chicken was pleasant tasting, not very smoky a bit undercooked and seemed a little small. I also thought the way they cut it was a little out of the ordinary, like the wing is still attached to the breast making it a bit awkward to eat. They offer two types of sauce at the table, mild and zippy they are both nice. The macaroni salad was okay, again small portion. The reason I bring it up is that macaroni is really cheap and if you are going to serve it be generous. Biggest disappointment for me was the macaroni and cheese, it cost $ 5.00, is about ½ of a cup and served in a plastic container. There was definitely some type of flour or filling where there should be cheese, it was grainy and a little slimy, not very cheesy, far too much nutmeg and no crust on top so it appears they cook it on the stovetop, load it up with filler, some cheese and nutmeg and spoon it into these little plastic cups. I did not like it at all. The place is clean and cute, the staff is kind of friendly but not very helpful. The food is okay but if you are looking for a really good plate of smoked meats this is not the place. In answer to the response I received from the owner: Robert Z. Smokehouse Business Owner 5÷5÷2016 Thank you for responding, clearly you would want to defend what you perceive as criticisms of your place. My responses: Yes it would be hard to miss a HUGE smoker bellowing smoke in the middle of a dining room but I actually took pictures of the place in which we sat… there are a few tables and a bar but a HUGE smoker? Totally excaped my 20⁄20 vision, it’s a good thing I took pictures and have them to upload maybe someone else will be able to spot it for me. Where did I say you were out of a special? Here is what I said copied and pasted verbatim«they seemed rushed and kept saying aloud how many pre-orders they had that day I assume that was to explain or discourage orders of the special that day. I say, if you have a special of the day, make enough so that your customers won’t have to think twice about ordering it, I certainly do not want to feel like I am creating an inconvenience by ordering the special and I don’t want to be penalized with an extra long wait time for what is being offered as a special.» One of your employees at your restaurant, that day informed me that your«special» that day was PRIMERIB aI did not say you were OUT of it I said there were numerous announcments about how many pre-orders there were. From that, I surmised that the wait would be even longer and that was TRUE, because the other customers and I were talking about it. I most certainly DID«dine» in and there were NO mason jars, we got plastic cups, and I will upload the pictures I took of them. The macaroni was cool, a bit slimy, and with FAR too much nutmeg also by the way, no where near good tasting and OVERPRICED at $ 5.00 for half a(plastic) cup. Your comment about there being a «line» should be clarified, the place is small so the line was not long as in «too many orders, so little time» it was more like«not enough staff, small place» long.

A bit on the pricey side– but worth every penny for the quality of food! My husband and I shared the sampler and got a good amount of food for two hungry people. I especially enjoyed the hot links and brisket. I also ordered a side of Mac and cheese which DIDNOT disappoint. We will be back– very friendly staff and delicious food. Seems like a family owned restaurant with regulars who keep coming back for a reason! We’ll definitely be adding this to our rotation of local eateries.

My husband gave this place a try after seeing the fab reviews. They were well deserved! The most meatiest and tender ribs I’ve had and I am not a rib person. Mild BBQ sauce on the side. He also got an order of hot links. They were slightly spicy and tasty and I usually cannot handle any spicy food so these were tasty. Definitely are not HOT if that’s your thing. The mac n cheese was creamy & yummy. The Mac salad was okay for me, not the creamy dressing I accustomed to eating so it tasted a tad dry, needed more dressing. The potato salad was yummy. Overall very happy with the food and will be back when we are in the area. Hands down one of the best places we’ve had for BBQ.

First time visiting, came during a lunch rush and their service was wonderful! They have a great selection of craft beers and the BBQ is delicious. Very friendly and attentive staff, with a really great atmosphere for lunch with an old friend or just a day out by yourself. If you’re in the neighborhood I would definitely recommend getting a rib plate!

Beaver Creek Smokehouse has BBQ creed. winner in some Q competition. what’s my beef? small portions. use of premium beef cuts from upscale suppliers may be the reason. eats:brisket sammie(reg. 11, lg-15) w/soda, side –brisket tender, melt in ur mouth, some smoke? –red potato salad fresh, solid cubes, not mushy –fuze tea had 18 grams sugar., 70 calories, 12 oz. nice taste, not oversugared. 3.5 stars smoke: –pricing $ 11 up –quick service, short wait for food –10ish tables for dining in. –no reason to doubt the genuineness of the Q –mild sauce has some tang to it, adds a lot of flavor to the meats

Um… good food?! You betcha! I had the three meat combo which comes with one side and I got a free side for checking in on Unilocal. The food is soooooooooo GREAT! All the meats were extremely tender and flavorful. I really enjoyed my lunch there. The owner brought the food out personally and even gave me a break down of all the levels of BBQ sauce they have. He went around the dining room and asked patrons for their feedback and also ensured that everyone was doing ok. It’s rare these days to have someone who truly cares about the food they make; therefore, it was an extremely good touch! Just thinking about the food makes me wish I was back in Martinez chomping down some good olé BBQ at Beaver Creek.

Not surprised that we were impressed. My honey and I decided to stop here for lunch the day before our wedding, while we were out running a few last minute errands. I had been curious about this place out for a while, so I was glad to have finally gotten a chance of checking them out. The place is small, though clean — and seems to come equipped with enough seating. The menu is chalkboard written on the wall above the register area. Most everything sounds appealing — little pricey for a few items but not bad. I’m really not a big bbq person at all, but I love sausages and grilled chicken — just minus in bbq sauce. I ended up going with a grilled sausage plate. It comes with the cole slaw and corn bread I believe. My honey ordered some rib dish. I also ordered a small beer(they have a great craft beer selection). You are then given a number where you can find your seating and wait for your food to be brought. My beer was awesome for starter! Then are food arrived. Both our meals were served on one tray, which I thought was a good idea. Everything looked good. My sausage was a little spicy, but real tasty. The cole slaw was awesome! Not your usual fattening, mayonnaise slayden slaw — more fresh, flavorful and mixed with apple cider vinegar if I’m not mistaken. My hubby also loved his ribs and found it to be cooked well. Service from everyone, was all extremely cheerful and helpful. I will certainly be making my way over here again for sure.

I’m sure this place is worth 5 stars for food quality and service, BUT my usual spot edges this place by a hairline. This place is great though. Craft beer, smoked meats paired with whatever sauce suits you palate. I went with the Carolina sauce mixed with the spicy Zippy. That, to me, is the perfect marriage. Service was great. Everyone from the lady who took my order, the smoke master, and the lady who was all over the place making sure everyone is taken care of and enjoying their meal. It’s hard to decide where to go when the two BBQ places I really like are so close together. Maybe one will keep my loyalty, maybe the other with steal me away. Either way is a win-win for me. Two great BBQ places within 15 – 20 minute drive of each other. This BBQ lover is a happy fat kid!!!
