EDITEDTOADD: Heard back from Tony the owner through his website( ) and he indeed plans to re-open in downtown Sacramento in about 6 months! My world will be tacky again soon… in a good way. ~~~~~~ Closed and gone! I am so bummed. But someone passing me on the street as I had my face plastered to the window informed me that Tacky may possibly have moved to somewhere in the Sacramento area. I will update as soon as I know! In the meantime… *dabs at eyes*

Such cool stuff, and very nice staff! I especially love stopping by this store during Martinez’s wine and beer walks/events. They really go out of the way to create a fun atmosphere. And again, so much cool stuff!

I was lucky enough to find this charming shop open this afternoon when most of the nearby antique shops were closed. Tacky is a well tended, clean, bright and vibrant shop. The owner was very helpful and welcoming when I came in. He told me the shop was his«baby» and it shows – this isn’t your typical antique/thrift store. Everything was neatly displayed and there is a fun vibe to this place. You can tell this is a passion for the shop keeper and his upbeat attitude is infectious! I thrift/antique a few times a week as a hobby/collector and it’s so rare to find a shop that isn’t bogged down with junk or that is tidy. Tacky is well maintained, it’s easy to walk through and the prices are fair. There is nothing worse than going to an antique shop that is filled with stuff or having to rummage through a bunch of things to get to anything. Tacky has cute things you might not need, but you’ll definitely want. The store’s soundtrack was a great mix of 80s pop. After I browsed and had pleasant conversation with the owner I left. I hadn’t bought anything, but after I left I wanted to go back. You see, it’s places like this, independently owned stores, that can charm you and make you feel good about a purchase. I ended up turning around and making a small purchase with plans to stop by again in the near future. I would have no problem sending friends or family here. Tacky has been around for three years and I hope they stay open for many to come. With great service, good prices and fun atmosphere there’s no reason it shouldn’t! Thank you Tacky for my «new» vintage coasters!

I have been in here a couple of times. I really love this store. The gentleman that runs the store is always so friendly and is really nice to my sons. The way the store is laid out is terrific. The stores sells mostly vintage items but the way that it is laid out, it makes it feel as if you are shopping for brand new items. It is kind of like taking a trip back in time to buy quality items if that makes sense. I bought a handful of Star Wars action figures at this store for my sons and me. They had great music playing from when I was a kid. It almost made me feel as if I was 9 years old again shopping for these great items. My sons who are very young normally find antique shops to be this adult thing that is very boring to them. Not this place, my sons love it as well and after bringing my wife there she is now a fan too. Christmas time will be here soon so I would recommend this place if not for the great items that they stock, but for the shopping experience.

Love Love Love this place!!! Amazing and so lively decorated and so friendly to go into. Unique stuff all the time. Organized & Clean. It’s not like these other antique stores on Main St. which look like a cheap flea market in a building. They are never dusted, never cleaned, just someone unloaded their garage in their places. Those antique stores need to go and their should be 3 or 4 more Tacky stores on Main St. This is the standard that all other antique stores should follow.

I love this shop! Such cool vintage and funky things, I’ve scored some great comic books here, too. Also, Tony is the most awesome shop owner you’ll find! About a year and a half ago, my then boyfriend lived in PA, and I lived in Martinez. I was walking around downtown Martinez one day and wandered into Tacky and met the owner, Tony. I said hi and we chatted a bit. I noticed a really ugly framed rooster painting and fell in love with it(I collect ugly rooster stuff for my kitchen). I came home, called my boyfriend and told him about my day like I always did and mentioned Tacky and the ugly rooster picture. A few days later, my phone rang. It was Tony from Tacky, he said he had a delivery for me. I said I didn’t order anything, but he insisted he had something for me. I drove over and Tony handed me a package wrapped in brown paper. I opened it and saw it was the rooster picture I had admired. My now fiancée called Tacky and paid for the picture over the phone, all the way across the country. I was in tears I was so happy that my guy and Tony would go so far to make me smile. To thank Tony for going above and beyond, I brought him some homemade gingerbread. What a great guy! Not many people these days will go so far to satisfy customers!

As others have mentioned, Tacky not only has the funky vintage wares to puruse but the soundtrack to accompany it. I always like a little Earth Wind and Fire to accompany my shopping excurions. It’s a great little shop on Main Street in Martinez, and although the Unilocal hours indicate it’s not open on Sunday, it indeed was open for business on Sunday this past weekend. Super friendly staff-had a great conversation about some of the items they’ve recently acquired from estate sales and what other shops we were checking out in the area. Overall a really fun experience with an eclectic mix of mainly 20th century decorative and jewelry items. Clean, bright and well laid out space. Lots of fun to browse and good quality items at decent prices

Pretty cool little find. Wandered in here on a Sunday while I was cruising around looking for something to do. This place has a lot of cool stuff you will remember from your past. Theyre reasonably priced and the owner/operator was pretty friendly. You should check it out if youre in the area.

One doesn’t generally say things like«This antique store is so FUN and lively!» Leave it to trusty downtown Martinez to provide us one. :D As evidenced by the name alone, the store proprietors want to provide the antique experience with a smile and a bit of a youthful spin. The shop is small but a bit more open than standard antiquing, which makes the shopping experience a lot more fun when you aren’t visually overwhelmed with repetitive options. You instead are free to breathe and browse, with eye catching items on display and more subtle goodies requiring more effort and persistence. And shouldn’t that be what it’s all about? They also are always playing great tunes — usually the liveliest of oldies, and the workers AND patrons can’t help but sing along or shimmy a little. It creates a fun infectious vibe. Tacky participated for the first time in February’s Valentine Wine Stroll, and they have definitely made a name for themselves since then. Keep up the great work, I look forward to returning!

There are only two second-hand shops on Main St. in downtown Martinez worth going to and Tacky is one of them. I have been shopping at this store since it opened mid-2012 and every time I go in I see something I must have. Should you find yourself in Martinez doing a little shopping, relaxing or taking advantage of City Hall or the courthouse, it is worth stopping in and checking out what’s for sale. This shop has cool gifts for everyone and the prices are irresistible.
