Attentive service and coffee served in old school coffee mugs. Enjoyed ourselves and the food! French toast was nice, not too dry. Thick cut bacon too. Will be returning!

We have dined here several times and found the food to be just average. We had hoped for much better since some of our fellow Unilocalers seemed to just rave about the place, but alas this last visit last week was probably our last visit. It just doesn’t offer any food items that make you want to return, when we have had better food at a Denny’s. This last visit the week of St. Patrick’s day was no exception. They offered a St. Patty’s day special posted which was a «corned beef Rueben» with a side of potato salad. We also ordered a pancake breakfast. First the sandwich was on regular bread, with no cheese and a pickle, no garnish no side dish. When I asked the server she was great and approached the chef for correction to which he sneered, stared at us and flung a plate of Potato salad which was 1 ½ x the size of the sandwich. It looked like a sandwich my young niece might make, only hers was fresher and better. The pancakes were pale and anemic looking. This is now our fourth time here over at least a 2 yr period and nothing has improved which is disappointing. The server was great, she was friendly, she helpful and fast. So the problem was the food, it’s appearance and taste. Parking is ample, the place was clean but it’s utter disregard for quality makes you want to go to the greasy spoon burger place up the road. If things improve we would definitely reconsider our review, as we would have liked to give this place 3 stars because of the service, cleanliness and parking ease but lack of good food drags it down. So eat here with caution and if you catch it on a good day, that’s awesome! :)

the tale of two restaurants… If you dine in, it’s not half bad. If you get it delivered it WILL be wrong. I work in the refinery across the street and sometimes I don’t bring my lunch and half to order from somewhere nearby. I have been burned by TJ’s in the past before but, today I was not in the mood to look too far. Delivery time was about 15 minutes after time quoted, asked for a large diet coke, showed up with two regular cokes, asked for sourdough toast, got half wheat half white, half of it was soggy and the other half was burnt, 15 bucks for the wrong order was the last straw. I’ll stick to Boscos or Quarter Pounder. Morale of the story, dine in, NEVERGETITDELIVERED

Great quality diner food at great prices. Service is great — attentive and fast. Tried the teriyaki chicken in my last visit and it was delicious! Highly recommend!

Been eating here for over year now. I sometimes get food delivered and its been reasonable to good quality. However the last three times has been awful. I got soy sauce with my french toast(i nearly choked when i took a bite), there were items missing from the order and this last time it was over 30 minutes past the expected delivery time. Keep in mind i live 5 minutes away. So i called and in 10 minutes someone was at my door. But the food was ice cold and had not been seasoned. Eggs way over cooked like rubber. Hash Browns were soggy from soaking in the condensation in the box. This will be the last time i eat from this place. So I advise anyone looking at this place to just go in person to eat there. The delivery is not worth the disappointment.

As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted by two very friendly women who told me to sit wherever I pleased and immediately took my drink order of a fresh lemonade with a slice of lemon. I loved the fact that it was bright and cheerful, with beautiful artwork on the walls and a large flat-screen playing Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. It made the lunch experience better that myself and the other guests could play along with the show while we ate. I decided to order the TJ’s Omelet. I originally wanted the daily special which was the tri-tip sandwich but there was a small language barrier and I couldn’t understand what she told me what isn’t and is on the sandwich. The omelet came out with two sliced pieces of toast, hashbrowns, and a BIG omelet with melted cheese and four small slices of avocado. The omelet was stuffed with sausage, ham, onion and mushrooms. While I loved the omelet, next time, I’ll order something with more vegetables! Some spinach, tomatoes, or kale would have made an excellent addition. It was a very good omelet and I left extremely full and satisfied. This is such a cute little café with a gorgeous view of the mountains. They have very affordable, decent, solid breakfast and I will be back soon!

HORRIBLE customer service!!! I ordered a simple fish and chips order off of Grub Hub menu. When I received it, the order was not correct. When given the opportunity to fix my order, I was told the«menu was wrong». I ordered based on what was presented. I only expected TJs to honor what they advertised, yet they refused and dismissed me. I will NEVER patronize this establishment again. Unacceptable business practice.

Ordered 2 meals but one was not how I ordered so that was a huge disappointment & waist of money !!! But my love was happy with the French toast combo ! As for me I don’t like greasy breakfast sandwiches especially when I didn’t order one !

Haven’t been around this area in awhile and told my fiancé we should go to Pegs, only to find out that they are no longer Pegs. We arrived around 2:20 and they close at three. We felt bad because it was almost closing but the hostess /waitress greeted us kindly and told us that it wasn’t a problem. They were happy to accommodate us. My omelette was great and my fiancé burger was great as well. Iapprove! !!

Sorry to see a formerly great place go downhill… sure hope it was a bad day. I have been going there for many years… old time Martinez Dude. 4 Adults, 2 grandkids. I ordered Eggs Benedict to be served on Hashbrowns due to Gluten allergies… hash browns were only cooked on one side, not even touched on the other side. Kids meal, supposed to be six small pancakes… she got 2 huge adult ones, the«hollandaise» was a gross, pastey cold goop that just tasted greasy. You could scoop it with a spoon, turn the spoon upside down and it will not move. My wife’s omelette had the wrong cheese and she said the flavor was a 2 out of 5, also her country potatoes had raw onions all through them, yuck!) Two of us got our meals while the rest waited just under 10 minutes. After she was gone… a side of bacon, pancake syrup and the Grilled cheese sandwich all missing for my Grandkids and it took another five minutes to get them one at a time. Took too long to order as well… if Pennsylvania wasn’t killing Japan on the TV in Little League World Series this whole thing would have been a loss. The waitress was very nice and maybe they were busy? All I know is it was Sunday around noon and there were a lot of open tables so I don’t think there should be any excuses. I have had normal food and normal service here before or this would have been a one star… nothing spectacular or to write home about(or Unilocal) about but normal good… I normally Unilocal when things are especially bad or good, not(normally) in the middle… and this was bad. Sorry TJ’s but please read this and make it better for the next person. (BTW… I told my waitress I was gluten free and that poor excuse for hollandaise better not have wheat flour in it and make me sick or I will be worse than this Unilocal)

First I want to say it’s an ok breakfast place, kind of hard to mess breakfast up. This review is for their lunch and dinner menu. This place was previously Peggs, it changed owners a few years ago. There’s not a person in martinez that doesn’t miss Peggs, tj’s is just an ok breakfast place with one welcome addition which is free delivery. Prices are inexpensive. Now, god forbid you walk in here wanting lunch or dinner. Standard burgers and sandwiches, dinner plates sound good on the menu but once the food comes out everything is down hill. The food just looks sad. Kind of grey. Had the millwrite burger which is cheese mushrooms onions chilies on a french roll. This thing was loaded with chilies which tasted like they were very old and obviously out of some can. Mushy and over all just yuck. I scraped most of them off and ate a few more bites. Meat looked grey, just nothing visual working for it. Daughter had the hot dip(french dip). Beef was super dry, au jus was watery and bland. Son had bacon cheese burger, all good except for the beef. Have had the ribeye and country fried steak here before, not very good. The place is clean enough, friendly and all but there’s much better places to eat in martinez. If you want a burger go to big burger further up on Pacheco, they have excellent breakfast as well, it is a total greasy spoon though. If I had one wish tonight it would be that the owners of Peggs would return because tj’s isn’t even close.

Went there on Sunday to check them out at breakfast. Our waitress was super nice. The food was good and priced well. So sad they no longer serve dinner due to slow attendance. Heard they had a great family italian dinner night. Definity go back for breakfast.

My first time coming here: my parents love coming here and I got guilt tripped to come here with them. There was very little parking space and we had to park in the street. I ordered my food and got pleasantly surprised by it. The food is delicious! Everybody is older or came here with their parents like myself. It’s a small diner with nice workers. I would recommend this location to anyone that wants to try something new and like hole in the wall type of places. Room for improvement: I would love to see an extra waitress on the floor. When I got there, the waitress looked extremely stressed out. It made me feel rushed or ignored.

Tjs Café is the quintessential family dinner. The pleasant atmosphere is comfortable and soothing after a long day or just a quick meal. The food is home cooking at it’s best as I have enjoyed the potato salad and various sandwiches for quite awhile now. Once in awhile I indulge in the french fries and they are fantastic. The staff is always happy and welcoming and come from food backgrounds. I hope everyone will try the French Dip which I’m now addicted to and the potato salad, which they should bottle. My best wishes to the staff and chefs at TJs. Mike Benson

A diner that the locals obviously frequent. Our dishes were good basic breakfast fare. Attentive service. No frills filling food. A great little breakfast place. I had the $ 6.89 Hombre: A warm biscuit, split and topped with gravy, a sausage patty and two eggs(ordered mine sunny side up). He had the $ 6.79 Western Fry: Home fried potatoes topped with bacon, cheddar cheese, bell peppers and onions.

Good Golly Miss Molly, where do I start? Every weekend when we drive past this corner diner the parking lot is always full.
We just happened to drive past on a Saturday night, a few cars in the parking lot so we thought we would give it a try. I am glad we did. this little diner gem is what home cooked food would be if I actually had the time, effort, or energy to cook. It is real food actually prepared and cooked by a cook. no prepackage or instant any thing here. the gravy is homemade the mashes are peeled, cooked and hand mashed. Their potato salad is the best I ever had, red potatos peeled, bacon, fine celerey, and mayo. There are so many favorites; meatloaf, tuna sandwich, their breakfast, home made pies, and Yannie the co-owner is very friendly, she knows every ones name and if you are new, she introduces herself and calls you by name. The place is packed with regulars. Why the 5 stars? The food taste homemade, like something an average cook like myself would make. The service is super friendly, slow, and Mayberry-ish.

I stopped in for lunch one afternoon. I haven’t been in since they made changes so I wanted to see what’s going on. It wasn’t too busy but there was a few people in the dining room. An incredibly sweet waitress sat me down and told me the specials. One of which was Meatloaf. The Meatloaf special came with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy with steamed Veggies. Well, the Veggies were least desirable. It was Broccoli and Carrots, emphasis on the Carrots. Far too many Carrots. Then the Broccoli was was way under cooked. I don’t like Carrots and would have eaten the Broccoli instead but I didn’t eat either. Meatloaf was very good. It wasn’t just baked meat, it had real seasoning and flavor. Then the Gravy really made the dish because they have a good gravy. Gravy is thee most important part of the meal anyway. I also found out the serve breakfast all day. I’d eat eggs at every meal if I could. I’ll keep this in mind. I’d come back again for sure. Service was great. Food was good. I’d like to try some of their other diner fare.
