This was our first time at this restaurant. The staff were all very friendly. The salad bar appeared fresh and well kept and tasted delicious. My husband ordered a hamburger which he really liked and I ordered the chicken parmesan which I loved. This will be a place we go quite often I think(we are new to town so we are happy there is a yummy place to eat!). Great place to eat!

This restaurant is now called, «Mascoutah Steak House». Same location, just a new owner/management. Salad bar is excellent and there are usually 2 soups to choose from also. Food is very good!

We really like this place. Nice atmosphere with really good food and great prices. They have a nice salad bar, great soups, and wonderful desserts! Fish, steak, pork chops or sandwiches… you can’t go wrong.

Stayed in Mascoutah to attend races at I-55 in Pevely. Excellent! Delicious home cooked food!!! Lovely building. Friendly staff. Now named Mascoutah Steakhouse although Tony’s Place showing on the back entrance. I got Hawaiian chicken & hubby got smoked pork chop(like a 2″ thick ham steak). Both were excellent! Food serves hot on a cool plate = not sitting under heat lights or nuked in a microwave. Ask to see the dessert tray! Coconut meringue was outstanding! Would definitely come back! Wish these nice folks well & hope they prosper :)

We have been eating at Tony’s for years. The service and atmosphere are great. The food is good Ma and Pa home cooking. We love coming here!

I am in town for work, I search out the mom and pop places. Tony’s was exactly what I was looking for. The menu offered a wide variety of meats, mmmm meat. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted, it was between the smoked pork chop, ribeye, or catfish. I went with the pork chop, it was huge! But I was a tad disappointed, it had great flavor but I think the name was misleading. It was more along the lines of a ham steak with the bone in. I was looking forward to the white meat of a pork chop but I got a thick ham instead. All the meals come with a small loaf of freshly backed bread, salad bar, and soup. The salad and soup were nothing to write home to mom about but they were good. At the end of the meal I ordered the vanilla raspberry cupcake, yes! The dessert was amazing. I big fat cupcake filled with raspberry filling and frosted with a thick vanilla icing, I think I need an insulin shot. I will go back to Tony’s if I am in town, I would even bring people here, but next time I will go for the catfish.

Excellent dining experience! First course: soup and salad bar. The salad appeared to be a fresh and green blend of iceberg and romaine. The salad bar offered EVERYTOPPINGIMAGINABLE. I opted for eggs, shredded cheese, green peppers, chopped ham, and ranch dressing. Not exactly a healthy salad, but that was my choice. I accompanied this with a very tasty cup of beef barley soup. The main course: I had the weekend special, a generous cut of prime rib. The server recommended grilled rather than au jus. It was a phenomenally tasty and tender piece of meat, and I’m looking forward eating the rest of it for lunch tomorrow.(Too much soup and salad… couldn’t quite finish it). My wife had shrimp, something I do not typically order from any restaurant in the midwest. But I sampled one, and it was A-ok. She raved about her baked sweet potato, a food for which she considers herself a n expert connoisseur. Finally… dessert: I know, I know… I didn’t finish my dinner, so I shouldn’t have. But the pies are irresistible. My wife, daughter, and I shared a slice of lemon meringue and a slice of cherry. The cherry was very good. The lemon meringue was the real deal… tart, not out-of-the box, overly sweet lemon pudding. The décor is elegantly rustic, celebrating the local history. I appreciated the privacy of the booths, with floor-to-ceiling walls dividing them from adjacent booths. The service was very attentive. This restaurant is about a 20-minute drive from our home, and we will be returning soon.

I’ve been coming to Tony’s Place for years and haven’t had a bad experience yet. Most recently, I ordered a prime rib, medium rare, and it came out cooked perfectly. Wonderful steak, juicy and well-seasoned. The setting is rustic, rural Midwestern down to the core, with old newspaper articles about Mascoutah’s history on the tables. The walls are adorned with antique farming equipment and mounted deer heads. The wait staff was charming and quick to bring out my food. The waitress was very aware of our table but did not pester or linger. I didn’t have to flag her down to get the check or get refills. Great experience, and would recommend it to anyone wanting a real American meal.

Had to send first entrée back due to oversalted food. 2nd was much better!

I’ve been here a couple of times now. They have fair prices, good food, and friendly staff. The salad bar is small, but very fresh. The soup comes with the salad bar. This is a must try. Homemade! Very good. If your within 10 – 15 miles, it’s worth the trip.

I grew up eating here but the last time I went(in Jan) the restaurant has gone down hill. I only ordered the salad bar, which I used to love, and the lettuce appeared to have been frozen!

My husband and I stopped by Tony’s for the first time last night. We weren’t ravenous, so we decided to share a meal, which we do frequently when we aren’t hungry for the huge portions served these days. We decided upon the pork chop, which came with a baked potato and the salad bar. Our waiter told us that instead of charging an extra plate fee(which restaurants usually do, and it’s around $ 3 or $ 4), the restaurant policy was to charge for a trip to the salad bar. That would have been okay with us, except for the fact that a trip to their VERY small salad bar was $ 8.99. It wasn’t so much the size of the salad bar, rather the very limited variety. Think«bare basics» salad bar. As for the food, it was good. The pork chop was moist, although a little boring. The service was good, although the waiter made it very clear that restaurants«don’t like» people sharing meals. Really? Was that necessary? We’d like to go back, but only when we’re really hungry. The place was packed. There’s a reason for that and we’d like to find out.

I was told they make there own desserts here and of the three that I had 2 of them where pretty darn good. I found out don’t bother expecting the steak you order to be cooked to the redness you want. Medium comes out well done each time. The rest of the dishes where pretty good even the over cooked steak. If your in this town or passing thru I’d say its a decent place to eat, because its clean, looks pretty neat inside, staff is friendly. Maybe they had a bonehead cooking the steaks that day I ordered i don’t know but that stopped me from giving them a 4 star.

Imagine if your mom was from Mascoutah. Imagine if this rustic, southern Illinois mother of yours offered to prepare your choice of dozens of delicious lunches, dinners, and desserts. Now imagine eating this meal in a place that looks and feels like home. That’s what I imagine when I think about Tony’s.
