Saturday night Bonnie G. And I visited Off the Hook to try their fresh fish offerings. It is both a fish market and restaurant… where can you get fresher fish… To go to the end first… this is our new 1st choice place to enjoy fresh offerings from the sea! What more can you require: 1) Outstanding Service… Erin was most personable and efficient. we remembered her from their previous place in Northport. 2) Parking was easy… large public lot in the rear AND they have an entrance back there so you dont have to walk around the block. 3) Freshest fish we have had in a long while… started with raw clams which tasted fresh from the ocean. Also had Mussels in spicy red sauce. full of garlic and just wonderful… used spoon to finish the sauce. For mains BG had Sole oreganata with outstanding garlic green beans… Perfect! I had Cajun Swordfish… a large hunka fish that was tender and delicious… Also with the beans! We got a Caesar’s salad for one that fed 2! Was really good and had Anchovy Filets on it!!! For that they get a double WOOHOO! 4) Price is right for their offerings… ask for what you want and how you want it and they will go out of their way to make it happen… 5) Currently BYOB… they have applied for a license but now is bring your own! The place has about 8 deuces that they configure depending on the size of the party. Its quaint and comfortable. If your looking for fine dining with fancy settings, this is not the place… If you want the best the sea has to offer with great service… this is definitely the place to go!

We first discovered the place when it was in Northport. So glad it is in its new location and is chef owned and operated. A fish market/tiny restaurant-very casual but THE freshest and delicious food –big portions. It is a BYOB which is wonderful. My husband and I love finding places like this. The chef Chris is very friendly and helpful and so is the wait staff. They cook to YOUR requests. You are not paying for décor or inflated liquor prices. What you are paying for is fresh and delicious seafood. Period! You can order ready made dishes for your party, you can call in your fish order. A great addition to Massapequa Park!!!

4.5 stars. Got some scallops from the market to go and while they were about $ 5 more expensive per pound than local competitors, the quality made me question whether the competitors use additives in their scallops to increase weight. There was absolutely no excess liquid at Off the Hook and they seared better than any scallops I’ve ever purchased anywhere. Quality over quantity! Minus half a star because the space is so tiny that enjoying a real sit down dinner would be tough.

Came here for lunch and ordered the clams oreganata(6 for $ 10.95). The clams were juicy, fresh, and packed with flavor. For my entrée I ordered the fried flounder off the lunch special menu for just $ 10, which included fries and coleslaw. The portion of flounder was large for the price and tasted great. The steak fries it came with were cooked perfectly. The staff was very friendly as well. I will definitely be returning.

Walked by and got take out seafood on a whim. The fried platter was just ok. Didn’t not care for the calamari in it. Everything else was just your standard fried seafood. Got a takeout crab cake on the side which was really good. I’d stick with that next time. Overall not bad and convenient location

So it was a saturday night… we wanted something new we wanted fish we wanted fresh fish So I remembered reading somewhere about off the Hook its tiny with only a few tables there was no wait when we arrived black board specials as well as a regular menu out waitress assured us we can make your fish anyway you like it be it broiled blackened or fried I opted for a broiled salmon salad big hunk of salmon lovely fresh greens what can I say I was very happy the place isn’t cheap but it is worth it about 19 dollars for the salad service is very and attentive though you will be waiting for your meal good food takes time to cook… so I am ok with that tank with lobsters I don’t eat them but I do feel sorry for them there is a big wall tv showing Channel 12 slightly annoying. I will be back

Recently opened 6 weeks ago. This was my first time here. Small restaurant with only a few tables and they also do take out. Food was great, everything was fresh. waitress was very friendly. Will come back again.

Waiting a few weeks before stopping by, always want to give a new place to get its legs. It’s a little nook of a place on Park, so you’ll never feel crowded in the place. The waitress seems a little unsure of herself, that could also change. Started with the baked clams, little on the mushy side, but tasted great. The fish that my wife and I ordered was cooked to perfection, portion was decent. The sides complimented the plate. The chef knows what he doing back there. Downside… a little pricey for a meal that comes with no bread, and getting a refill on water is a chore. Overall. good start for the new place.

Just had the Shrimp Po-Boy tonight. Absolutely outrageous! The Cajun sauce they put on has a kick but is not burning hot at all. It was very tasty and the bread is good as well. Bad bread can ruin a sandwich. The kind of roll they used for this complimented everything else. I will definitely go back again. I don’t like ‘fish fish’, only shell fish. The Po-Boy will be hard to avoid but I will try other shrimp or scallop dishes as well. I did not see the lobster roll on the menu as a previous poster here had. Perhaps it’s a special of the day or off menu item. I would love to try that as well. You must go now. Forget Red Lobster and come here. You won’t regret it. ===================================================== Called tonight(December 23rd) to place an order for 2 Shrimp Po-Boy sandwiches. I got a rather short answer of ‘sorry, we’re not doing take out tonight, only catering for the holidays’. I guess my order for what would of been around $ 35 wasn’t good enough for them. So I basically hung up and took my business elsewhere. It will be a long, long time before I consider taking my business here again. I don’t care how good the food is, that’s just ridiculous.

Stumbled upon this place in search of fish. I’m so glad I did, especially being in the north massapequa south farmingdale area. Service was great, Chris is very knowledgeable. Great fish. Will be picking up from here, my new local fishery

Came across this place by chance, walked in just to check it out and ended up sitting down. Glad we did! Lobster roll is decently priced and is ACTUALLYPRETTYGOOD! Great prices, super friendly staff. Family run– looks like the whole family helps out, which I respect. They have fresh seafood on display, so you know the stuff is really fresh. No pretension, you don’t have to dress up to eat great seafood :-) We’ll definitely be returning! So glad they opened!
