I’ve been here many times and each time I am beyond satisfied. The flavors and presentation are remarkable. I’ve taken many meal choices off the owner and I have been taken back each time at how flavorful the meals are. I recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting good Indian food.

Excellent Service. Decent Indian food… can’t complain. Ordered the Chicken Tikka Marsala, Lamb Korma, Garlic Naan, and mix appetizer. Leave the place smelling like Indian goodness and having that taste in your mouth for days to come. LOL

Just love this place. The food and the family that owns it are a joy to be around. I’ve been there 5 times and I’ve enjoyed every meal. I’m never sure exactly what I’m eating since the owner suggests something different every time, but I’ve loved it all. All of their ads say that they deliver but they don’t.

This place is great! The Jersey folks I was with were a bit skeptical, thinking we should go to Edison instead, but we were all pleasantly surprised by Royal Curry. The lamb korma was outstanding, as were the fish tikka masala and bhindi masala. Also had the yellow dal and mix appetizers(these were okay).

Love this place. Reasonably priced, food came out hot and delicious. No complaints. Restaurant is dated but clean. Authentic Indian food. Out of the way but worth the trip.

Awesome food! Great service! My husband grew up with home cooked south Asian food(Indian & Pakistani) so when he thinks it’s authentic, I know it is! I had my favorite bhartha(eggplant) and naan… Two thumbs up! The raita(yogurt sauce) was one of the best I’ve had — the fresh herbs takes it to the next level. It seems to be family-owned and you can tell they care a lot about the taste, quality and overall experience. As new Jersey-ites who’ve just moved here from the city, this restaurant definitely makes our list of local must-visit restaurants!

Had takeout: papadams, chicken tikka masala, and naan. The papadam were OK, the sauces were watery. As for the chicken tikka masala, it had way too much cream in it. The naan was fair. We went here because it was closer than our local favorite: Rajpoot. We will not make that mistake again.

The food here is delicious! Especially love the okra(bhindi masala). Meat dishes seem a tiny bit light on the amount of meat included, but the taste is very good. Sauces here are really complex and rich, seasoned to your preference of heat level. Very friendly service, very accommodating of our special dietary requests, and they even remembered us after our first visit. BYOB. Our new favorite Indian spot!

We stopped in for an early dinner and love it. The restaurant is tucked away in an odd area of a strip mall, but the place itself is very clean and spacious. We were the only ones in there are first, but later joined by a few others and a stream of people coming and going. We started with the Mixed Appetizer which was a flavorful assortment, along with an order of garlic naan. For our meal, my wife got a chicken dish and I got a lamb. Both were very flavorful and were large portions. Overall the food was great, the service was very good and the price was very affordable. And an added bonus… it’s BYOB. Definitely a spot we’ll be coming back to.

The food here is AMAZING. The owners & staff are so nice, and they must work very hard to serve food this good. We had friends come to stay with us from Long Island and they were pleasantly impressed with the food, too. No more waiting for or taking a trip to Little India(Edison) for Indian food! Lamb Korma is my absolute favorite. The naan is fresh and fantastic.

Yummy lunch. Off this week from work and decided to stop by Royal Curry which is fast becoming one of my local favorites. Started with the mixed appetizer which is a really good value @ $ 6.99 for two of each appetizer dishes Royal Curry serves. Of note was the Samosa that was excellent. Fried well with a warm and awesomely seasoned filling this was a very satisfying appetizer. I ordered the Paneer Tikka, which is basically grilled Paneer(Indian cottage cheese). Served on a hot plate on a small bed of leeks and peppers it was soooo tasty, as the Paneer’s flavor was really enhanced by grilling(Malliard reaction at work!) as the heat creating a tasty golden crisp crust! Chicken Bhuna was really super too; a tomato based mild sauce with some peppers, spices, and fresh chicken pieces stewed till tender… what’s not to like? Royal Paratha Naan was good and a little lighter than the spectacular garlic naan. If I had to order again I would have ordered the Garlic Naan instead.

Great food and staff! The off menu«Chicken 65» is wonderful… featuring a super crispy exterior, a ton of flavor, and an unknown number of spices. Place is super casual and definitely not a fine dine-in experience, which is perfectly fine by me. We came with a large group and a bunch o’ kids. Located in a super-dead strip mall and impossible to see from the road, I hope you try find this place! Worth it!

I don’t have anything bad to say about this restaurant. I initially came here because I like Indian food and it’s right next to my gym. Both times I was there I was just about the only customer, but I attribute that to this place being new and people being unaware this place is open. This is a small, family run business and the first time I was there the owner was my waitress. She took her time to talk to my friend who has never had Indian food and make suggestions for what he should order. She also gave me a suggestion on which dessert I should try(Gulab Juman for the win!). I hope this place stays longer than the previous restaurants because I have more of the menu to try.

Wow — this is about as good as it gets in Monmouth county for Indian cuisine. Excellent menu with something for everyones liking, plus everything we sampled was simply delicious. Decent portions and reasonable pricing afford you the opportunity to sample many of their interesting dishes. The owner is very friendly and helpful. She will gladly make some recommendations for you if you choose or take a peek at the many reviews here on Unilocal to get an idea of what to try on your first visit then go soon and enjoy.

I just went here tonight. I made my Unilocal account just to make sure that I could let the Internet know that this place is fantastic. I will be back to Royal Curry for as long as they’re in Matawan, which is hopefully many years to come. The variety of flavors and the way they wonderfully complemented one another were masterfully prepared. I highly recommend both the Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Nargisi. Get the garlic naan. You’ll find yourself wanting to come back for more great food and excellent service. Five stars, hands down.

There isn’t an abundance of Indian places here in Matawan so I was excited when I saw Royal Curry open! They had coupons in our local mailer so my cousin and I decided to try it for dinner one weeknight evening. I believe there was a Peruvian Chicken spot prior to this restaurant. Nothing in this location seems to do well but having had dinner here, I have a feeling they’ll be here for a while! The place was not crowded, understandable given its still new and it was a weeknight. While we were eating, there were a few take-out/pick-up orders. Our waitress/owner was really friendly. Answered all our questions when we had some about the menu — even made a few suggestions of her own. My cousin had a cold and suggested one of the teas under their Beverage section. We ended up starting with a Mix Appetizer which was nice because having had Indian a number of times, I tend to order the same things so doing this I was able to try a number of other appetizers I usually wouldn’t order. Everything was good. We each had a Chicken Tikka Masala and also placed 2 orders of Garlic Naan. We also ordered Mango Lassi, which I always rely on when I have something spicy. What I also liked about this place is Rice came with the entrée, not like how in some other places you have to order a side of Rice. Everything was delicious and we had left overs to take home. Hope Royal Curry is around for a long while! I’ll def be returning whenever I’m in the mood for Indian. It’s nice knowing I won’t have to make a trip to Edison for some good Indian next time!
