If you come here it’s not going to be a sit-down meal, even though you can. It’s just not a nice environment to eat in, but you can pick-up your food to-go and I would recommend this. We ordered two chicken tikka masalas with nann and they were both high quality and prepared in less than 15 minutes. I think this place may have taken over for Tower of India from a few stores over? I’m not sure. Either way, go for pick-up and you’ll enjoy your meal at home.

They have different stalls for different indian cuisines! Which looked good and attracting though the seating place is not that good. We ordered chinese tasted good and Biryani was good but should have been better.

Food is not fresh. We ordered Dosa and Sambhar. Dosa was very oily and we felt masala and Sambhar were stale. We even complaint but they just ignored. Will not go again. Hygiene is another issue.

Mercy! So delicious and then some. I had the Vegetable Korma and I couldn’t get enough. The portions are perfect. The naan is solid. This may be my favorite Indian food place yet. Just make sure to enter through Ernston road and not route 9.

I can see most of the reviewers are non-Indian, so they might not have gauged the authenticity of the food you get here. Or they could have been added by the owners themselves. I made the mistake of choosing this place to celebrate the birthday of my vegetarian friend and was very disappointed with the experience. We ordered a veg biryani, papdi chat, paneer masala with naan/roti, rava masala and mango lassis. The biryani had overcooked/burnt veggies, papdi was stale, rava dosa was soggy. The rest were decent. What pissed us off more was when we were asked how the food was, we were frank about it to the lady over the counter. She denied outright that they used stale oil. Funny thing was she said they make fresh papdis every monday, and we went there on Sunday night. So you can imagine. In New Jersey, there is no dearth of Indian establishments with good Indian food. They could definitely do better.

It’s got the old Dhaba feel to it. I am not sure if it is intentional though. The place is not where you would want to go for any formal occasion. The food is fresh(punjabi dished/Chinese) as you can see them cook it in front if you. The food tasted good. The open kitchen concept is ok too but don’t let your eyes wander around in the kitchen as it’s not kept very clean and may turn you off(Dhaba type). All in all a good place for a quick fresh meal any day. They offer dosas too and they seem ok.

SOOO… this place is on point. Definitely the type of place to go if you like food. Not the place to go if you are pretentious and corny. I went to Haldi Chowk about a month ago. I had read reviews on here and on Google, knew about where it was, but didn’t remember seeing anything of any real interest on my drives by. I kept my eyes open for this place and decided to stop in. Upon entering the parking lot, I was a bit confused by the layout. It didn’t seem like the best parking set up, but I wasn’t here to enjoy the ambiance of the asphalt, so I found a spot around front and went inside. The inside is kindof gritty. The kind of place where people who care about which fork to use first would scoff at. The tables were no frills old school diner-esque tables and the chairs were your run of the mill stackable catering chairs. A large TV hanging on the west wall of the place was running a Bollywood film that had the production quality of something that looks like it came out of the underground 70’s scene. A fridge off to the right held a selection of Snapples and sodas. The place looked built for take-out but perfect for no-nonsense dining. On the opposite side of the«dining room» was the real draw. The rear wall is occupied by 6 or 7 booths or stalls. They are not real booths in form because they all run together behind the counter, but from the front they look like separate shops. Each has their own menu, specialty, style, etc. You order from many, pay at one. Place your order and wait for them to call you back up to the counter. When you return to pickup your meal, you are handed a tray of styrofoam containers, some plates, condiments, etc. When you are done, they give you lids to package your leftovers and you clean up your own mess. Simple. Perfect. No nonsense. My experience mirrors that of another Unilocaler. I didn’t know what to order and I LOVE to sample so I asked the woman behind the main counter what I should get. She suggested that I get one of their amazing combination meals for a very fair… I mean ridiculously good… I mean really REALLY cheap price. I love Indian food, but my biggest turn off with it is that I always seem to pay so much, but get so little. I mean, I don’t need to get the gout off of a meal, but it would be nice to taste a little of this and a little of that. Instead I usually find myself eating a plate of chicken korma with some rice and calling it a day. This place, though, hooks you up with two curries, rice, naan, salad with homemade masala powder, for like 8 bucks. Are you kidding me? I still didn’t know what to get, so I told her that I would take a curry combo and asked her to leave it up to the chef. I was not disappointed. They also have soups and sambar at the counter. You can get dosas or tandoori. Their is an indo-chinese counter that sells banging fried rice and noodle dishes. Their samosas are a no brainer. I mean… I could go on an on… really. Haldi Chowk is at its core a foodie’s food place. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and eager to share their culinary traditions. *Try their hot sauce/chili paste! Also, this place had plenty of open parking spots when I arrived. Upon leaving, the parking lot was still vacant… except for the spots directly in front of and behind me, where the patrons decided to play«box in the pickup truck and see how many times he needs to scooch back and forth to get out of his spot.» My advice to you is to take a spot that cannot be targeted for such tomfoolery.

So amazingly good. I know absolutely nothing about Indian food & looking at the menu didn’t help at all, so like a little kid, I told the woman at one counter what I liked and she was all smiles and laughs the whole time, assuring me she’d make me something great. She did not disappoint! On top of that, she’d peek over from time to time like an Italian aunt to make sure I was enjoying my food. There is not one stand here that serves bad food. Come in with a healthy appetite and leave happy.

Um… I LOVE this place!!! As a certified food snob, who is Indian but doesn’t like Indian food, I think my opinion means something:) This is basically an Indian food court with different stands for different types of cuisines. I suggest trying a dosa at the dosa stand, some snacks at the snack stand, and some noodles at the indo-chinese stand. The kabobs look amazing as well– I haven’t tried them yet.

We’ve been driving past this Indian place that looks packed every time we drive by so we decided to stop in last night. It turns out that is and Indian Food Court with 8 different stations. They are Pakistani and Indian and set up regionally with the foods found in the different areas. There is Northern Indian, South Asian, Indian Chinese, Punjabi, Bawarchi, a snack stand w/drinks, a bakery, and Tandoori style foods. If you have ever been to Katz’s deli in NYC it is kinda the same set up except without the punch card to go to the register with. Each section is run individually and you pay at each stand. Not all accept credit/bank cards. There is a large Indian population in Parlin and by the way the place was packed it seemed like this was the spot to eat. I got the Chicken Tandoori. I’ve been to a few Indian places in the area and I’d say it was delicious! Very flavorful and not dry at all. Then I got a Paneer Samosa, thinking it was a Samosa but it was actually like a smothered vegetable Samosa with some kind of fruit chutney, chick peas, onions and yogurt on top. It was AMAZING!!! I’m definitely looking forward to going back and trying from all the other stations, especially from the Indian Chinese station. If you are a fan of Indian Food then this place is worth checking out!
