Great market but even better food and staff! These people really care about what they’re doing. Get the grass fed burger and fries, you won’t be disappointed!

I can only review the shop as I have not eaten at their restaurant. My mom and I stopped in on a nice sunny day just wanting to get get some fresh grocery items and a cup of coffee. Most of the items are products I can find in chain grocery stores and for cheaper prices. The produce was okay but I’ve gotten fresher stuff at the local farmers market down the street for dollars less. The coffee was pretty terrible, not to mention the station for coffee was a mess, and they were missing sweeteners, cream/milk etc. We had to ask an employee to refill the station and it took forever for anything to be refilled. All in all, I want to like this place but it just felt quite lackluster to me.

Great locally– sourced ingredients. Brisket sandwich so far is my favorite. Staff are genuinely kind. Great for eat-in or take out.

Great food. High quality, organic, local offerings. Feel good about your food. Also great products for the home or a nice gift. Definitely worth the stop.

Do not confuse organic locally grown with healthy. We ordered the brisket sandwich, The bread was saturated in oil and grilled. My wife got the seared cod sandwich which was breaded and fried in oil. I assumed it would be a fillet seared and finished in the oven. The Cod sandwich came on what looked like a pretzel roll but it was just a very oily grilled roll. It came with a side of fries which the waitress told us were just oven baked potatoes which sounded like a healthy choice. They were swimming in oil leaving a stain on the plate. I’m willing to bet that McDonald’s fries had less fat. They had some kind of organic ketchup, the reason Heinz sells 98% of the ketchup in this country is because it’s the best. On a positive note they offered three soups and all three of them were good but one of them was excellent. The website said they had a shrimp corn chowder and that’s why we went there, unfortunately it wasn’t offered today. With tip I walked out of there spending close to $ 50 for lunch. I probably would’ve had a better meal at the local house of pizza at a third of the price. On a sidenote they offered Simpson Springs Birch beer which I love

This café is part of a natural foods store. Cozy section with table service. Delicious, healthy food– and very generous portions. They use local produce when possible, and the food is really well-prepared and creative. Patio open in warm weather. Some great vegetarian options among other things.

I’ve really tried to like this place. The shop portion of it is ok, many of the items are becoming easier to find in other places and the prices are just too high. To me it is especially true of the produce. I’ve also tried their coffee and morning things and soup and sandwiches. But every time I’m done I just feel I got average coffee, muffin, cookie, soup, sandwich for a very high price. I think there are many many alternatives in the area that serve food that is just as good or better for a FRACTION of the price.

After months of both of us telling each other, «we’ve gotta go there!» my fiancé surprised me a couple weeks ago with a lovely dinner at How On Earth. The dining room is very rustic and cozy(we actually had to move the centerpieces to another table to fit our food on our own), and despite the gourmet quality of the menue, I think I could easily have arrived in nice jeans and a casual top and not felt out of place. One thing I will say about the dining room is that the noise does carry. Forget about having a private conversation, because people like me will be listening in. We were seated near some old dears who were thoroughly enjoying creating an itemized list of what used to «cost a nickel»(Plasma TVs, apparently). As we waited for our food, it was becoming increasingly difficult to keep a straight face, and we repeatedly giggled into our beers, which were very reasonably priced. When the food finally did arrive, I was fairly hungry. The delicious amuse bouche provided some fifteen minutes before had made me extremely hungry. My fiancé ordered the lobster bisque, which was aromatic, but watery. I ordered for an appetizer a dish which you will never be able to try because the menue changes more often than Cher. All I know is that it had a spinach salad drizzled with a port wine vinaigrette, which was completely inedible, some«caramelized onions on bruschetta», which was actually just cold cooked onions on soggy white toast, and literally the most amazing appetizer food I have ever had, red pears in melted gouda cheese. Oh, the pears were incredible. My fiancé, angry at me because I had accidentally eaten the only chunk of lobster in his bisque, ate half my pears. I was mutinous, and consoled myself by ordering a glass of sauvignon blanc on his tab. Quite a while later, our main course arrived. He had ordered a steak with bleu cheese and other goodies drizzled over it, and I chose a chicken dish, which turned out to be wrapped in bacon and swimming in a creamy sauce. Upon our first bites, we were both blown away. Oh! The flavor! It was the kind of flavor that makes your ears ring. You know, the kind that gives you that Ratatouille moment when you are suddenly reminded of delicious things you ate as a child, even though your mother never cooked anything of the sort. And I wish, I WISH that I could say that this was the end. That we paid our bill and went hom satisfied, but unfortunately, flavor isn’t enough. My chicken, flavorful as it was, was a bit dry, and his steak was decidedly tough. After such heroic efforts in the flavor department, we obviously didn’t complain, but when our check came(78 dollars for the two of us, plus tip) we didn’t quite feel like we’d gotten what we paid for. Maybe we’ve been spoiled by other cheap and delicious thrills in the area(In particular, Margarets in Fairhaven, where we have repeatedly gotten the same fresh, local gourmet experience and only paid about 35 total), but I just didn’t think the prices were appropriate for the time commitment, the atmosphere, and the quality of the food. I would still recommend trying this place if you’ve got some time and a little extra cash, but be prepared to overlook some flaws. My verdict is, Almost. It was Almost a great meal. With a few small tweaks, it would have been one of the best I’ve ever had, but Almost isn’t enough to bring me back.

Located across from Turks, this place is great for anything edible(though they have other things too). They specialize in local produce but also have baked goods, meats and prepared foods if you don’t have time to eat there. They also just started serving wine with lunch and apparently beer’s coming soon!
