Tastebuds should have 200 reviews for 5 stars. From the homemade salad dressings to the lemon chicken quinoa soup it is awesome. Get a Quoahog for an app a s you will thank me for a lifetime… Secret get the scallops on the cob salad. The roasted corn makes it amazing.

Don’t waste your money! Ordered the seafood trio. Bland, bland, and more bland… Nothing salt and pepper could fix. Rice, plain white with NO seasoning. Shrimp had freezer burn taste, was not fresh. Mixed green salad was about the only thing halfway decent. Ordered Apple crisp and brownie sundae for dessert … Not so much crisp as mushy oatmeal with fruit and the brownie broke apart at the top, a clear indication of being microwaved. For a $ 67 lunch, can not say we were happy at all. Sadly this place is cute and could be great if someone in the kitchen actually tasted and seasoned the food. Bitter disappointment!

I wanted to like this place. Truly I did. The place is small but warm, lovely décor. Cute bar area. I don’t think we ordered well. If I had ordered an entrée as bad as my salad — it would be a 2-star rating. However, I ordered a large salad($ 9.00) + shrimp(additional $ 12! — for 5 shrimp!). The shrimp tasted like the grill had never been cleaned. Blackened and inedible. The greens were OK. Got the brownie dessert and the brownie was crunchy and hard(microwaved?) and the tea came in a cup with someone’s lipstick still clinging to the brim. Waitress was lovely but prices too high for the poor quality. Perhaps entrees much better. However won’t spend the time or money to find out…

What a nice surprise! Picture yourself on a snowy night sitting in a little cozy restaurant sipping a coffee after a great meal. Well look no further. The food was fresh and tasty. I got the chicken quesadilla with fresh salsa. My wife got the Salmon salad. I also got the Broccoli cheddar soup which very tasty. Granted it wasn’t an overly complex meal, it was still very good. The service was fantastic. Helpful and perfectly attentive. I will come again to try their desserts.

what a wonderful opportunity to have this lovely bistro in our little village. cozy, warm, casual yet elegant. The seasonal menu is rife with appetizers, soups, salads & entrees that one simply can enjoy with good company for several hours. If it’s summer the watermelon gazpacho is exquisite. Fresh full flavor of melon & herbs. I am amazed at the size and breadth of flavor with the salads. The Vanilla Field salad is perfectly balance with apples, greens, candied pecans and crumbled blue cheese with a complimentary vinaigrette. Various red meat or chicken is available if you have the appetite after a few smart courses of soups, salads and appetizers. A diamond in the rough? No, more like a pearl in this oyster of a shore community.

Pulled-pork breakfast burrito and eggs benedict were bland. Coffee was good. Friendly servers. SLOW service.

Recent visit provided again a wonderful meal but… Even though the restaurant was maybe half full it was louder than a packed tavern due to 2 people of a larger party. Do you think that laughing louder than a hyena makes the joke funnier and do you have to YELL to the person within 2 to 3 feet of you.

My wife and I ate at Tastebuds last night to avoid the Mother’s Day rush. This small, family-run restaurant in Mattapoisett Village was excellent! The atmosphere was casual and friendly, and our server, Tricia — who teaches special needs children by day — was friendly, personable, and efficient. My wife had a hard time deciding between several great-sounding seafood options and I had the same«problem» deciding which chicken dish to order. In both cases we were very pleased with our food. Our meals were delicious, the portions large, the service pleasant and well-timed, and the prices fair for high-quality food. If you ever visit Mattapoisett — a Cape-Cod-like gem in itself — I highly recommend lunch or dinner at Tastebuds.

Everything was delicious and quick out of the kitchen! The desserts looked to die for, though I did not have any. The wait staff is very sweet and accommodating, Its a tiny building but between ambiance, food and service, this teensy gem packs a punch! Its a great addition to Mattapoisette! cant wait to head back and explore more of the menu — the chalk board specials looked incredible!

Wow, what a find. My boyfriend and I had exhausted our search for the perfect breakfast spot in the New Bedford Fairhaven area. There are some A OK spots but nothing that blew our socks off, until we found Tastebuds in Mattapoisett. We took the Gixxer for a ride down route 6 and passed it before finding it on our GPS. It’s an adorable little spot on the corner of Main and 6A. There is a small bar with TV and medium sized dining room. The chef warmly greeted us but the man at the door, not so much. He was rather gruff the entire time but we did not let that dim our spirits. Our server was quite pleasant and welcoming, handling the dining room alone and doing her best. What made the day was the food. It’s really good! I had a 2 egg breakfast with home fries and a homemade chive biscuit. The eggs were perfect and the home fries crispy but a really small portion. Bacon was included which my boyfriend devoured(I don’t eat meat). He loved his Brioche french toast. It was delicious(I had a bite). I had green tea and he had a double expresso. Then, on to libations, a perfect bloody Mary and fabulous mimosa. They were so good we had two! The bill before tip was 62.00. We cannot wait to go back! t There is plenty of parking. We arrived at 12:30 and were seated without too much of a wait. I read the previous reviews, with scattered experiences. I can imagine peak summer season this place gets packed and service falters. We hit it just right.

Soooo charming. How refreshing in this neck of the woods as options are far and few between. I wanted to like this charming little place more than I did, but wasn’t as excited leaving as when I walked out the door. Sat @ the bar — only one other customer also @ the bar. The bartender was far more into his side work than he was tending to his two customers. I had to flag him down for water refill, wasn’t even asked if I wanted another drink. Never asked how my dinner was, nada. As nice was he was, he did NOT understand the art of a dining experience. Dinner was good, dessert great, although the Ceasar salad was way heavy on the dressing as well as the cheese. The only music was the kitchen’s noise in the background, making it almost awkward as the place emptied out — or as you walked in the door. Music can DEFINE the ambiance and should not be overlooked. As the place emptied I still sat w/my dinner plate in front of me that I hadn’t touched in 30 minutes waiting for some service. The clincher. I asked for a doggie bag and was handed a plastic container. Really? In any fine dining establishment this is something the server should do on your half. The prices do not reflect diner etiquette. The décor had far more personality than the staff. No one there was making sure your experience was wonderful, no glue. Hence, it was pretty OK.

This part of the world needs restaurants and I so want Tastebuds to work but you forget the food because the service is so poor. I really think it is a question of training and supervision. We had dinner there over the holidays and only one of us had an appetizer which came out too quickly, before our cocktails then it was well over an hour before the entrees dribbled out to the table. They had booked a party of nineteen which over whelmed the tiny restaurant… and they had finished by the time we arrived. The food is usually fine though the eggs on the Benedict were essentially hard boiled.

There were three of us that went there for Sunday breakfast. I must say, my previous Unilocaler’s have been spot on with their assessment(s). The food was not outstanding, but was good. The service on the other hand was awful. First off, the place was not that busy when we arrived. There were empty tables. Our waitress came to the table right after we sat down. We ordered our drinks, two coffees and a ice coffee, they arrived in about ten minutes. That was a bit much, but bearable. About ten minutes went by and she came by to take our order. Steak and Eggs and two Omelets(twenty minutes). Dropped and left. We had to flag her down to get some jelly for our toast. Dropped and left. We had to flag her down to get coffee refills(ten minutes). I was starting to think that she was going to Columbia for the coffee. When we left(had to flag her down for the bill) the tables were filled and I was thinking, «I hope you’re not in a hurry folks». Although the food was good, I am not sure if I will return.

We’ve dined at Tastebuds several times. The food has always been good, but the service has been slow. We went there last week for a somewhat special occasion and the service was so bad that it ruined the entire evening — wish we’d stayed home… We had a party of 6 and based on past experience we expected slow service, but hoped that it wouldn’t be bad given it was a Tuesday night — we were dead wrong. Not only did it take over an hour to see our first entrée, but the six meals trickled out at an unacceptable pace. Here are the gory details: The two dishes for the young men arrived first(the salmon and seared scallops on a Caesar Salad) — despite the fact that there were 3 women at the table(no chivalry at Tastebuds). Fortunately, we insisted they eat without waiting for us. Next came my meal(chicken picatta) and then my wife’s meal(scampi) arriving 10+ minutes late. By then, the men had finished their meals, so we started eating ours as the young women looked on. 10 Minutes later, my daughter’s girl friend’s dinner came out(pasta primavera). I was done eating and at this point I told the server to tell the owner that«we would never be coming back to the restaurant again.» A few minutes later, my daughter’s meal finally arrived(grilled salmon on a house salad) — 75 minutes after she ordered it. As we finished up, the server did offer us a free drink or desert because of the disgraceful service, but we declined. All we wanted to do was to get out of Tastebuds as fast as possible — we’d already been there for 2 hours. I’m not sure how any restaurant that has been in business for more than a few weeks can take 23 minutes to trickle out 6 plates. I assume there was a manager present and yet no one seemed concerned. I sent a message to owner and left a voicemail on their phone with these details and more and no one has gotten back to me. Like I said, the food tastes great, but this simply isn’t a real restaurant. Maybe a good place to bring a date if you want slow romantic dinner and don’t mind waiting 30 minutes between drink refills. NEVEREVERGOTHEREWITH4ORMORE!

Awful all around, bad awkward service, worse food over cooked chicken raw steak undercooked rice and heavily salted mashed. Chef’s trying to hard and foods suffering cause of it. Threw away almost two full plates waiter said nothing. Disappointing

Good choice if you find yourself in Mattapoisett and need dinner spot for almost any occasion. Table enjoyed the salmon and Frutti di Mare. Pass on the pizza. Replica Legal Seafood rolls hit a soft-spot and thought the cinnamon butter was interesting touch. I would come back and try more of the menu.

Another favorite weekend spot for us. They make the best martinis in the area guaranteed! Small local restaurant with excellent food. Great staff. Most of my reviews are positive because I would rather rate only the places that I recommend highly. This is one of them!

Personally, I tend to look for the kind of apocryphal seafood joint that claims Melville as a past diner, that boasts a worn floor scraped by wooden legs, and where the chowder’s secret ingredients may or may not be incidental flakes of a crusty sailor’s salt-dried skin. That would make a good story. But here, the only story is that the food is really, really good. It was a delight to be reunited with New England clam chowder, especially given that my last hundred or so bowls of Midwest chowder must’ve been cans full of chewy clams and glue-like broth. This was light, fresh, and well-seasoned. My main course was the fish taco plate. The taco fish of choice is scrod– i.e., the latest catch, which locals claim(accurately) is good year round– crusted in panko. I was full but couldn’t stop eating, and my next culinary victim, the brownie a la mode, was texturally perfect for the few brief minutes it lasted. It even included fresh mint leaves, which for me blew the roof off the house, so to speak(not that I usually say such things let alone advocate the use of metaphoric explosives). The vibe here is that of a gift shop where almost everything is meant to be eaten rather than seen. The olive walls and mahogany tables create a cozy feel and there’s a bar area off to one side(Sam Adams and Blue Moon on tap). The music is modern but organic folk, which New Englandizes the experience to the max. Which nobody can deny. Unfortunately, it’ll be some time before I can get back here. But in my imagination, I’ll be eating a hundred other meals from the menu… salads of scallop or salmon, baked haddock with grilled asparagus, tiramisu, grapenut custard, and the sandwiches which I have already gastrovoyeuristically enjoyed through my mom and sister.
