As big chain hardware stores go, Menards in Matteson has the best prices on several items. A few years ago they started selling food items in addition to the typical do-it-yourself type items. I usually compare their prices to the neighboring Home Depot. Menards is generally lower in price and carries different name brands. I prefer Home Depot for paint but most other items I get at Menards, especially screws and smaller things. The customer service is about the same do no complaints or warnings. I have always received great advice and a great conversion from workers. They seem to hire people who have a specialty of knowledge in one area or another of fix it stuff. As an artist who experiments with various materials and has to problem solve frequently with constructing things, Menards is my go to place. I also absolutely love the % off bag sales… you’d be surprised what you can fit in a paper bag when discounts are offered. ;-)

I’ve been to many home-improvement stores. The staff at this particular Menards is incredible! Ben in the paint department should be the store manager if not the district manager. Stacy at the front desk is always a pleasure and always has a smile on her face. Any time I walk into the store, every staff member has a smile on the face and is ready to help you. Kudos to whoever does the hiring at this Menards!

As home improvement stores go this is a mess as the whole chain seems to be out of focus and customers can find B-Que sauces Menards t shirts faster/before finding actual nut and bolt combination packets. This store has been re-updated but still is disorganized and the staff terribly trained. This store needs help. seriously, with organization and training, the cashier system makes no sense either, it is a mixture of a self serve with a cashier. Weird.
