When I was a small kiddo family pizza nights were often at Nino’s pizza. I have fond memories of the small restaurant with cowboy doors and the map of Italy placemats. It’s been about 15 years since I’ve been back, it’s nice to see that some things don’t change. Yummy pizza, and the same olé look.

I’ve always had good pizza here — there seems to be some debate on this site — a little on the cheesy side, but crispy and good. but if you’re worried, there are the always-excellent sandwiches… the italian sausage and italian beef(and the combo) are great. and there’s a deep fryer full o’ the usual chick, shrimp and such. the back room is all stereotypical i-tal with red and white checked plastic table clothes. the bar in front is teeny tiny but cute and dark and comfy and they will feed you right there if you like. and drafts are cheap… it always smells great in here, which i always find to be a good auger. Bottom line, the best thing about Nino’s is it is a true neighborhood place without the neighborhood(it’s in the mall-centric strip just off I-57 surrounded by god-awful offerings like fudruckers, olive garden and cracker barrel… double gag)…but just walk in the swinging cowboy doors, immerse yourself in darkness and garlicy scene, the sox on the box and you got all the neighborhood you need. Maybe I project, but I think there’s a reason Nino’s has no windows. UPDATEASOFJULY, 2011. NINO’S ISCLOSED. i have heard some very interesting rumors about a intra-family implosion… though we keep hoping to see it reopen. similar food can be had on the nino’s in chicago heights(on halsted across from the salvation army resale store)…sadly, it’s an old pizza hut, so does not have the same ambiance… though it does have a tiny bar with a BIG lava lamp. but guess i will have to do another review for that. 10÷26÷11CLOSED(due to family infighting, the rumor is) sometime over the summer… the Nino’s in Chicago Heights on Halsted, opposite Salvation Army store is still open. Similar food, but no where near as cute a bar.

Not bad. As another reviewer said, i’ve had excellent pizzas there and i’ve had not-so-good pizza’s there. The service is generally good though. It is very small. And it is dim in there. But, I kinda like it how it is. haha The prices are what i’d expect for a decent pizza.

Family owned joint. Hit or miss with the pizza. The pizza can be as good as it gets at times and not so good others. It must depend on if a family member is making the pizza or not. And I been eatin it for over 30 years. The bar & dining is kinda small & dim and mainly patroned by locals(such as myself). I don’t think they open until 4p.m. daily. They also do catering which is pretty good(maybe 4 stars).

Oh. Yum. Very, very good pizza. Salads are nice, too. This place has been there forever and has always been a favorite.
