We are newbies to the pool world. Moved here from Chicago and wanted to have a pool, found the right house and moved into it in May. While having a pool is lovely, there is a lot of information you need to know if you want to take care of it properly. We have a weekly cleaning done by another company I won’t mention the name(we are not very happy with them). Yesterday, we woke up to our vinyl pool liner floating away from the walls. We are having a stone bench and firepit installed at the back of the yard. The area where the stone bench is was a huge puddle and the heavy rain(maybe 4 inches in one night) caused the water to have no where to drain to… needless to say we were in panic mode(called our weekly cleaning company and they didn’t know they were going to get back to us). UGH! Mind racing I remembered the seller left us a detailed list of vendors they used for various improvements, Ted Leonard from Blue Devil Pools was on the list. I called him in a panic told him the situation. He said he was familiar with the problem worked on pools for 25 years and as it was 3 days before Christmas I was freaking out that no one was working. He said he charged $ 90 an hour and likely 1 – 4 hour job. He headed over and arrived 40 minutes later. The guy is a wealth of pool information, very detailed information for my husband and I to know about this type of pool and how to manage it. our cost $ 200. I told him the Pool Co that cleans our pool said we were able to run the Polaris(vacuum) without the main pump on… what did he think? The previous owner told us that was a NO-NO. He said well I agree it should not be run alone as it does not have enough water working with it. He recommended to trust the Polaris website to reach out to them(not general pool forums). I logged into the Polaris website, got on a live chat with tech support for residential pools, they agreed«the booster bump(polaris) should NOT be run without the main pump as it will be under pressurized and cause the booster pump to overheat and potentially melt its impeller). OMG — seriously… thankful to have had a visit from Ted. Feeling empowered. Not only that, Ted had great ideas to get the water away from the pool with the work we are doing with the fire pit and bench. He went into a detailed explanation of routing the water away with catch basins and a back up of gravity fed trenching. I recommend this company and Ted 100%.
