Don’t be fouled by its strip mall location, this place has some really good food. In addition to the solid dishes, the family atmosphere and friendly customer service will make you feel welcomed and comfortable. My only suggestion, they need to do a better job decorating the interior.

I came here a few weeks ago with a large party, the food came out fast and fairly all together, it was also very yummy, the service was pleasant. I expect to be back!

It’s a real treat to have Taste of Europe in Matthews. Everything we’ve had here has been perfectly delicious. Favorites include the pan-friend pierogies(any kind), potato pancakes with applesauce and sour cream, and the Hunter’s Stew. I could eat here very day and never get tired of it!

I really like the concept of having a Polish restaurant in Charlotte. I am half Polish and used to my grandmothers pierogies and meats. I’ve gotten the pirogi platter mostly. They were always very good. I also found it neat to get a Polish beer. I’ve never had a Polish beer in my time in Charlotte, Atlanta or Daytona Beach. their beers are quite tasty.

Love the sampler platter. I have eaten pierogi all my life and these are some of the best.

Rock solid Five Stars*****! Three trips to Poland and a dozen visits to Polish restaurants in Chicago give me the confidence to say that it doesn’t get much better than this when it comes to Polish food. The ingredients are well selected. The food is superbly and professionally prepared and presented in an appealing manner, and the restaurant is very comfortable inside, with a clean Eastern European décor. If you haven’t been here you owe yourself a visit!

There is something that appeals to me about authentic regional cuisine brought to us by locals that really care about what they are doing. A Taste of Europe is one of those places. No one told me as much, but it is obvious from first sitting down that I was in for something special. I had the pierogi mix, which is a single pierogi of each of their many different kinds. They are available either fried or boiled. Although I was unable to figure out which was my favorite(mainly because they were all so good), I guess it doesn’t matter. It’s really hard to go wrong on these. My wife had the Hunter’s Stew. It came with some slices of crusty bread. As soon as it came to the table the aroma of this dish made me rethink my order. It just smelled delicious! I tasted some, and it was really good. If you are thinking that this is a stew that comes in a bowl, you are not picturing it correctly. I was surprised to see that this stew sat on a plate and was not what I was picturing as a stew. It was better than i was picturing. The service was perfect, the décor was from people who obviously cared about what they were doing, the place wasn’t too big so one gets lost. All in all, it was perfect for my tastes. I just love this place. So stop what you are doing and just go have a meal there.

Looks like I tried the same dish as most people — the sampler with perogies, stuffed cabbage, and kielbasa — and it was very good. The stuffed cabbage reminded me of my Hungarian aunt’s stuffed cabbage. For dessert, I had the crêpe with apricot preserves, very reminiscent of the Hungarian style crepes(palacinta) dad used to make. All in all, I enjoyed my taste of EASTERN Europe and will definitely be back to try some of the other dishes.

I ate here yesterday with my boyfriend and my family for my birthday and I was more than happy with the food. Growing up with a Polish background, I know Polish cuisine. And although this is a little different than I’ve grown up with, everything was DELICIOUS! The kielbasa was great and the pierogis were phenomenal. My favorite were the potato and farmer’s cheese ones. My dad loved his pork kotlet and my brother enjoyed his beef kotlet as well. The golumpki was the biggest surprise. It was tasty, but not what I’m used to. The sauce almost had a sour(but not in a bad way) taste and heavy on the dill! If you like dill, you’ll enjoy it. My family and I will return!

I’d been wanting to try Taste of Europe for awhile since it’s one of the few Eastern European restaurants in the area and was finally able to today. The building is very small with only 6 – 7 tables total, so I imagine it can get pretty crowded at peak times, but the restaurant is very nice and was exceptionally clean. The lone server at lunch time today seated me as soon as I walked in and was always quick to take my drink and food order and to check on me. I ordered the Polish sampler platter, which comes with 1 Polish sausage link, stuffed cabbage, and 3 pierogi of your choice. To start with, the Polish sausage was awesome! It was so smoky, flavorful, and seared perfectly. The stuffed cabbage was good but nothing special. It was cooked perfectly, but I personally wasn’t a big fan of the tomato sauce. The pierogi were a little disappointing to me. Maybe it was because I went with boiled over pan fried since my waitress stated this was the more traditional but less popular way in the US to eat them, but they lacked much flavor. There was really no flavor from the farmer’s cheese or onion, and they mostly tasted like plain mashed potatoes. They weren’t awful but could’ve used just a little bit of some spices or flavor to be perfect, and I would expect a little more from a Polish place. All in all, the food was pretty good and the service was excellent, but I was also a little disappointed in the amount of food in the sampler for $ 12. The three pierogi weren’t that large and neither the sausage nor stuffed cabbage were all that big.

Great Polish Several restaurants in the area describe themselves as Eastern European. In all fairness, this one did so originallu but from a business standpoint, I can understand. They have now come to the conclusion that they are Polish which they were all along. Food is great and very authenic. My wife who is from Pittsburgh and loves Polish Cusine, even ordered another Cabbage Roll to go which means she loved it. The food is great. Most cabbage rolls in the area are not worth ordering but not the case here. The cusine is good and the cusine is authenic. A definate go to restaurant.

I wish I could rate 3.5 because it was just a bit better than a three. I had never heard of this place and it’s only a few miles from my house. It’s 100% clearly owned by true europeans.(Polish/Russian) The food was definitely authentic and only imported beer. Huge plus for me– love the real thing and not the«U.S» version. That being said my grandmother was 100% polish and I was putting this meal against her cooking and maybe that’s why I couldn’t fall in love. The polish sausage was on point. The pierogis were pretty much exactly what you want in a pierogi but needed a little salt.(They had six different kinds though) Lastly the stuffed cabbage. The dish my grandmother always made and has my heart. This just didn’t make the cut for me. Sauce was just a little too bland for me and the rice and meat followed suit. I just need more flavor. Would I eat it again? Definitely, but it was just pretty good. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience and will most likely be back!

Polish food. All the regular items like stuffed cabbage, hunter stew, kielbasa, potato pancakes, borscht beet soup, pork cutlet like schnitzel and a variety of perogies. I don’t know the Polish names for these items, but the menu is clearly English descriptions to describe the items. Lots of choices with«plates» of food. For instance, I had two stuffed cabbage rolls served with mashed potato. The rolls were a nice blend of meat and rice. Flavorful and with a light tomato sauce on them. Dad had perogies with kielbasa and mashed potato. In that plate the perogies had to be of the same stuffing. Would have liked a plate of perogies to sample all of those stuffed dough yummies. Wife had port cutlet with hunter stew and mashed potato. Cutlet was pretty straight forward, cooked nicely and flavorful. Hunter’s stew was the big loser for us. It was like sauerkraut with some meat in it and very sweet. Could not handle a bowl of this«stew» and would recommend that if you are considering the stew, get it on a plate or a small sample from the waitress. Very authentic, clean, very nice server who is from the Soviet Georgia. Portions were great and you will leave full. Share amongst your group so you can experience a «taste of Europe». I mentioned the borscht beet soup in a tip. It is thin, just some herb flakes in this red liquid and is basically flavorless. You can order it hot or cold, I went for hot. And you could ask for sour cream which will turn it a bright pink. Maybe that would make it more flavorful, but I doubt it.

Three months ago I bookmarked Taste of Europe; since then it’s been a waiting game. Friday I finally got back to Matthews to eat some delicious Polish food! That’s right, Polish! Located in a small strip mall across the street from Pepero, the dining rooms are small but ample. Clean simple design with warm lighting. I was already hungry, but just reading the menu made it worse. So many types of pierogies, boiled or fried. Cutlets galore. At least 4 polish beers. With a large frosty Karpackie Premium Lager to start, I ordered the Polish Sampler Plate. My friend ordered the Pork Cutlet and Hunter’s Stew. The food: the Sampler had stuffed cabbage, fried traditional Russian Pierogies and a grilled sausage. All of it was delicious and tasted just as I remembered. The Pierogies were a little tart from the Farmer’s cheese and buttery with a hint of onion. Yum! The pork cutlet was so tender you didn’t even need a knife. Last but not least, the Hunter’s Stew was a nice blend of shredded pork, cabbage and sauerkraut — definitely not your typical stew! Great effort from this Polish restaurant. The beet soup and beef cutlet are next on my «to eat list». So if you’re hungry and feeling adventurous, flip a coin — Heads = Taste of Europe, Tails=Pepero. Either way you can’t lose!

I don’t know if I’d really go with«Taste of Europe» for the name here, but then I haven’t really traveled extensively in Europe, so I don’t know that I wouldn’t either. I have had Polish food, but the only thing I remember was Duck Blood Soup(kinda hard to get that out of your mind), and I wasn’t interested in having it again. The pierogis here are pretty much what you expect — mostly potato-filled pasta pockets — though if you’ve had them elsewhere(out of the freezer, or the one or two places around town that serve them in Charlotte), they are worth trying here, because they are better. Also, you can get them boiled or fried, and has been mentioned, boiled is more like steamed than you probably would think. Still, they are ultimately potato-filled pasta pockets, and thus, not terribly exciting. What was surprisingly tasty was the stuffed cabbage rolls(not sure if they were really rolls), but it’s good, and goes down well — definitely worth a try, even if you don’t like cabbage. The potato pancake was good too. As a bonus, the staff is very friendly. Perhaps because they weren’t busy, and I’m not sure if they are ever busy. Perhaps«pierogi house» would have been a better name.

Awesome food! Great little Mom and Pop place with some amazing, authentic food! Service was great but there isn’t much seating here so call ahead or get there before dinner rush. The Russian Pierogi is so so good and traditional! A friend of mine from Europe made them for me several years ago and being here and enjoying them, took me back! Save room for dessert because the crepes are awesome!

I’ve never been to(or possibly even SEEN) a Polish restaurant before, so it was interesting to finally try one. Although the restaurant is in a mini-strip mall, they’ve done a nice job of decorating the interior so it doesn’t feel like a strip mall. The décor is modern-looking(IKEA?) and it seems very clean. The menu offers a variety of pierogi choices, and you can get them either boiled or pan-fried. There are other Polish dishes as well, but we focused on the pierogies. You get 9 pierogies per entrée, a side of sour cream, and you can get a combination of flavors by paying just a little bit more(50 cents?). I opted solely for the Russian pierogies, which was potato and farmer’s cheese, I believe. After ordering, I wished I had gotten half of them spinach, because I do love variety. Nevertheless, the Russian ones were delicious and flavorful. It filled me up and was«just enough» food, but may not be enough for a Hungry Man. We also ordered the potato pancake appetizer and received four large potato pancakes(also delicious). We’ll definitely return and try some other items from their menu.
