I got married on Makena beach(secret beach) and it was amazing! This small hidden gem is beautiful for a sunset beach. Parking is on the side next to the stone wall. We got a permit so that we can have the ceremony here but there will still be other people visiting. No one bothered us but it was hard taking pictures because of other visitors. The waves were extra hard and it was just breath taking!

It’s a beautiful beach, for sure, BUT be very aware of your surroundings! My friends and I parked here for 5 minutes just to check it out(for a potential pop-up wedding location) and in the time we were away her car was broken into. I think potential thieves realize that tourists are attracted to this beach and the parking along the dirt road makes it easier for people to grab and run. As for the beach itself, it’s a little small(we opted to not use it for the wedding location) but the view is gorgeous.

All they hype made this beach disappointing. Extremely small and not much privacy. Very hard to find and not worth it. Go to McKenna beach instead.

Just a great place to be when in Maui. Sand is perfect, water is so nice and sunsets are amazing. Definitely make it a place you visit when in Maui…

Ohhh how i miss you Secret Beach! Wish we have you here in California. Clear blue water in a tiny secluded beach, south of Big beach called Makena beach. Clothing optional but being naked is mucho better in the water. Party every sunday and the sunset is so romantic, freaking amazing. Sorry no pictures of sunset my phone died at the end of the day. No cellular signal. Take another camera with you if you want to stay all day. I don’t have problem with parking. I’m always lucky to find parking anywhere i go.

AKA Po’olenalena Beach on Unilocal. The dirt parking lot is small and gets filled pretty quickly. There are no restrooms or showers. The beach is made up of 3 cove-like areas. The northern most cove is pretty protected from winds but is also unofficially clothing optional. The water is usually calm and nice for swimming, and is shallow for quite a few feet out. Sunsets are gorgeous! My only two gripes are the thorny kiawe trees that line the trails and parts of the beach which result in numerous foot pokes, and the droves of ants that seem to come out of the wood work in the late afternoon.

Very pretty beach and indeed private. Clothing is optional and during the week it’s not a bad place to try it out if you dare. Watched a sunset here… awesome views. Memorable visit. And if you are on this page you already know about this beach, so you know whats up. Just don’t tell everyone so it can stay secluded. But if you haven’t been and are reading this… go!

Beautiful tiny secluded beach just south of Makena Beach(Big Beach). I have not spent a lot of time at this beach but it’s very secluded and I’ve heard there are many weddings that happen here. I’ve never witnessed one at this beach but I can imagine it’s beautiful, but then are not all beaches in SW Maui beautiful?

This is a tiny double beach hidden behind a wall with one small entrance that is easily overlooked. It is just south of the big beach at makena. It is very secluded and popular for weddings. There are rocks pools on each end and also in the middle, and is about 100 yards long total. There is some shade from the trees overhead and the sand is beautiful. not suitable for kids esp when the surf is up.

Although I can’t tell you exactly where this beach is… teehee, teehee, hence it being«Secret Beach» and all… know that if you do your research and actually end up finding it, it will be soooooo worth putting in the effort! I can’t go to Maui without spending some time on this pristine, picturesque, and perfect little beach. Many times I’ve gone and been the only person on the entire beach. I absolutely LOVE it!
