We must have seen at least 10 different turtles here. 6 just laying off to the side basking in the sun! I did get scared once bc I turned quickly and there was a giant 6 foot turtle in my face :) it was so beautiful and they are so peaceful our favorite spot to stop for the sunset and just hangout :)

Maybe we just hit it on a bad day, but Turtle Town was a complete flop on our AM cruise after Molokini. It’s not really a reef but a lava rock shelf that sticks out into the water. The whole tour group was kept packed together so we were constantly bumping into each other. We saw no turtles and only a few fish. We had much better luck seeing turtles snorkeling(for free!) off the beach at Black Rock Beach behind the Sheraton.

If you’re in Maui and want to see turtles? This is the place most tours will take you to. These turtles are giants. Not your typical sea turtle, but giants! They come up for air every so often, so the chances that you will see one is pretty high. It’s a nice little snorkel spot, but it can get cloudy if there are waves, so you might not have clear views when you’re there. Overall, though, it’s a nice little spot.

Definitely recommend a early morning Molokini/Turtle Town snorkeling tour. Saw one of the largest turtles I’ve ever seen swimming through the water. Was truly amazing. Great sea life. Gets a bit choppy late in the afternoon I heard so early morning is the best time to go. Great little snorkel spot.

This was the best part of my Maui vacation. Standing on the lava rocks with my daughter and yelling out every time we saw a turtle head, turtle shell, and/or turtle fin. Sunset on that section of the beach was just amazing and the turtles made it magical. I am such a city girl and turtles in real life, ten feet away from me, gorgeous.

Obviously you can get here without a tour, but this is a perfect snorkeling spot, tons of turtles, sharks, and sea life. LOVEDIT!

This is a usual second stop for the Molokini crater tours. Do know that instead you can get here for free off the shore straight from Maui island. Also you will be lucky to see even one turtle so the name is somewhat of a misnomer.
