Nixon’s Coin-Op Cleaning Center

Looks sketchy on the outside but it is a wonderful laundry mat! They have tons of washers and dyers. Only problem I have is its a bit on the pricy side ($ 2 a load). The staff are wonderful and very friendly. They even have a old school pac-​man and donkey kong!

We moved into our new home but our washer and dryer won’t be delivered for a week. So glad I came here to do my laundry. The washers and dryers are in very good condition. The staff here is very helpful also. Oh and I got to play Mrs Pac-​Man while I waited. If you need a laundromat I highly recommend coming here.

I came in because my washer broke and my husband wanted to call a repair man to fix it. Now, in all my 16 years of owning a home I have never had a repair man come to my house and fix ANYTHING. Needless to say the MAYTAG guy did not fix the washer, he never showed up! So, now we are waiting for delivery of the new one and the laundry is piling up. So we loaded up the car with our dirty laundry (get it «dirty laundry», that’s an idiom) and headed to Nixon’s. I have only frequented Nixon’s when I was washing comforters. This was my first visit to clean our clothes.
The place is old, but not run down. Each time I have come in there I’ve also seen an employee cleaning the making sure the appliances are running properly. Before I went I raided all the piggy banks in the house for quarters and wrote IOU’s to my boys. I’m glad I did. Washing laundry has gone up since my college days. It is now a buck fifty to wash a load. Now, here was my quandary, do I take the wet clothes home to dry them or spend more money to dry them there. I decided to dry them there, because I could dry all the loads at once. The loads in the washer finished and I asked my 11 year old to go grab a laundry basket to move the clothes to the dryer. Ha, so instead of my son grabbing one of the wheeled wired baskets he grabbed a strangers basket sitting on top of his washer machine he was occupying. He eyed my son walking away with it, but never said anything. I was cracking up, then instructed him to return it and pointed to the correct one. Right then, I knew this was a great experience for him. He has lived in a bubble and didn’t know how to operate in a laundry mat. This is another learning experience preparing him for college.
All of our clothes were sparkely clean.

The Good:
I have several large comforters and lots of pillows that are turning yellow from age and night sweats. I know Eweh! They won’t clean well in my machines at home.
My Brother told me about Nixon’s, and that he has washed his stuff there in th past.
The large machines will easily handle my laundry needs. So I got tons of quarters, stopped to get some laundry supplies from the store in convenient carry sizes.
I went to Nixon’s not sure what to expect, since it has been here as long as I can remember. I expected a run down worn out place. It wasn’t! It’s not new, but the machines are very well kept. The Staff is constantly keeping the place clean or helping customers.
It was fairly busy, but the lady running the place was very friendly and helpful. She said I’d need the big machines, and they are first come first service.
I loaded a couple of the machines with pillows and added the detergent, bleach, and Clorox 2. Threw the coins in and watched that «Monster» machine do an amazing clean on my laundry. The pillows came out looking like new.
The people in the laundry mat doing their own clothes were very nice, courteous, and friendly.
The Bad:
Oh, my! I realized when seeing the results of the front loader machines that my machines at home just plain SUCK. I need new equipment! My brother who has had a front loader for some time just smiled at me when I was telling him of my revelation. Sears, here I come. Sears has a 12 month, zero interest purchase plan.
