Candlewood Suites Mcalester

Nice room. Kitchen, full size fridge, dishwasher microwave. Plates, silverware. Movies and games you can borrow. Basically a little store in the lobby with food and toiletries. Can I live here? I’m going to be on the lookout for Candlewood Suites when I travel from now on… wait is there a hot tub??? Oh no! Oh well.

I booked the hotel en route from Illinois to Texas. About 8 hours into my drive I knew I had to stay the night. Recalling McAlester was approximately halfway. I Expedia searched hotels. Candlewood popped up with lower rates than most of what I consider «safe bet» places like La Quinta. Being on a budget after vacation spending, I read the positive reviews, held my breathe, and booked.
Upon arriving, I almost missed the hotel because it is located behind several fast food places. I was a bit worried about the small lot being located so close to fast food joints so I parked as close to the building as possible and went in.
My anxiety dropped when I was greeted immediately by the front desk clerk. The lobby was clean and I waited as she checked in what appeared to be an On call Dr from the local hospital who seemed to be familiar with the hotel.
I was quickly given a room and informed of the laundry, gym and free dvd rental options. The room itself was very clean and appeared recently updated. I was pleasantly surprised to have a full size fridge with ice maker in the kitchenette in my room. The bathroom was large and had hot water with nice water pressure which was needed after a 12 hour drive. The bed was very comfortable and placed within easy view of the tv.
I logged into the complimentary wifi and packed some food into the fridge. My room faced the back of the hotel which was a wooded hilly area so I had no concerns about noise overnight. Checkout was quick and the front desk explained my receipt to me when I noted I had questions due to booking elsewhere.
Overall a very pleasant stay. I would say that the hotel is just as good, if not a better option, than the «safe bet» chains I typically look for.

When possible I stay at a Marriott or a Courtyard Marriott. I was a little nervous trying to locate a hotel in McAlester. WOW! The Candlewood was very impressive. The posturpedic beds were incredible. The room was very clean. The staff was very pleasant and extremely accommodating. Since it is on the main strip there are lots of retail options (food, liquor, etc). The price is wonderful too? Just don’t get addicted to the free Otis Spunkmeyer cookies in the lobby.

This is an amazing place and so moderately priced! I stayed in a Wednesday night so the price might be a little higher on the weekends. Right away we walk in the door and the front desk gal, Angie, was soooo sweet. I’ve never felt that once at a hotel before so I really appreciated feeling at home from a long days travel. She walked us to our room and even asked if I wanted a crib for my 7 mo old with whom she was so friendly and wonderful with! She brought one down, set it up and didn’t have to worry about my little ones night sleep. Now the room… A FULL kitchenette with all you need for utensils, Huge tall ceilings, comfy beds, lots of tv channels, central air/​heat, computer desk, full bathroom with tub, and anything you need for your stay. Angie was so sweet she brought down some warm fresh baked cookies at night because the lobby was out. This room would have usually gone for $ 200 where I’m from, easily! First class stay at a such a low price. This place is a must stay! So impressed.

This was possibly the most clean Candlewood Suites hotel that I’ve stayed at (and I’ve been to many). The one drawback at this location was having to listen to the guests footsteps in the room above me. If I ever have the opportunity to return I will simply request a top floor room. Aside from the early wake-​up noise from my upper floor neighbors, this hotel is one of the best in McAlester. Quick access to the highway, helpful and courteous hotel staff, and conveniently located near many restaurants and shopping.

I work with CCI systems, this is a company that goes all over the country. I’ve stayed at hundreds of different hotels. And at least 15 different Candlewood suites. This one here, by far exceeds my expectations on service friendliness and above all, being clean! All of the staff here are very friendly and upbeat, the housekeeping staff are prompt and very thorough. The front desks are knowledgeable and friendly giving you a good experience day after day.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the kitchenette makes you feel like you’re not away from home-​the gazebo and the complementary grills makes the weekend better.
Will be here for at least another month, will truthfully miss this place and these people.
