Oh how the great has fallen, when you imagine a steak house, you think juicy delicious perfectly cooked steak with great delicious sides. Not here, I ordered the longhorn porterhouse steak medium. Because the restaurant was half empty the steak came within 20 min. Good time, but it was not what I asked for, the steak was well done instead of the perfect light pink medium I had requested. Great sear but horribly dry. I spoke to the manager and he quickly whisked it away. He was respectful and apologetic. About another 20 min later as my hunger was really setting in I was brought a very dull and grayish looking steak, no sear and hardly and seasoning brought to me personally by the manager. As a steak house manager what a shame that he would even allow such a lifeless steak to leave the kitchen. But that’s not the worst part, bear with me. This may sound exaggerated but I this new steak had the most disgusting bitter taste to it I have ever had. And I know it wasn’t the meat. It was the juices that covered it. I have never once had such a disgusting flavor on a steak, almost like spoiled limes smothered in vinegar. I could swear If I didn’t know better it was urine. I immediately asked for the check, the manager once again was apologetic and was nice enough to take the meal off the tab. Regardless the damage had been done, this is my second time at this location and I can honestly say I will never return. Please avoid this location at all cost, there are much better steak houses here in McAllen.

We were seated right away but it took a while for our waitress to come. She apologized. It was pretty busy. We came to try the new sirloins with toppings. I had the bacon topped sirloin, it was delicious. Hubby had the jalapeño one, which didn’t look as good and he said was disappointing. They have happy hour specials but you have to ask for the special menu. Waitress was nice but had to go find the happy hour brochure for us. She wasn’t sure of the prices. Also, it is advertised until 7 pm but she said their register makes it end at 6:50. Seems like this place doesn’t want you to get any kind of deal. My wine glass had finger prints on the rim, which looked dirty. Overall the food experience was good, but the «happy hour» could use some improvement.

Always get great service when I visit. Great food, too. Recently visited and had an appetizer (kettle chips) and the grilled chicken and avocado sandwich. Was gooooooo-​ooo-​ooood! Our waiter was very attentive and took good care of us. Prices aren’t too bad and wonderful ambiance. I really recommend this place.

I had the hollandaise lobster steak and it was amazing. This was my first time here and I didn’t know what to get so I got that on recommendation and I am paying it forward. You’re welcome. The steak was juicy and tender. I will definitely be coming back. The only drawback is it is kinda expensive.

I have eaten in many of these all across Texas and typically it’s fantastic food and fantastic service. I came in at lunch today I don’t know if there are not enough servers but service was so slow. I personally think it was because the server spent time talking to large groups and not to me because I was a single.
The food was good it always is although they did serve my pie with a spoon which I thought was weird but didn’t want to wait for a fork as I have to catch a plane.

Best. Steak. Ever. These peeps know how picky I am. They now always please me with their service and perfectly cooked steak. After schooling them once for bad service and overcooked meat, they have always made me happy. This is my choice for steaks in McAllen. Sante Fe can’t touch their Outlaw ribeye. But if you want to be around the chocante crowd of McAllen, go to Sante Fe instead.

Great food the best service don’t understand the reviews. If you are a very picky person to the T make your own food. The manager Jesse goes above and beyond.

While the service isn’t always great (which I think is just about everywhere down here) the food is always one point. Very reasonably priced and my steak has always been excellent! I would choose Longhorns over Saltgrass any time.

Not a good place, service not good, food is over priced. We asked for coffee after our meal and our server rolled his eyes at us, I guess he was ready for us to leave. We will not be back. The food is not that good, it tastes almost pre-​cooked.

What a difference a server makes. After not having a good experience the last time my wife and I were here we decided to give it a second chance complements of the house. This time our server was 100 times better she was energetic friendly and funny, Bridget was her name. Our food was good my wife thought her burger was great I thought it was good. Our appetizer finally arrived, the corn fritter appetizer was good but the spicy chilli ranch made them awesome. My wife ordered the Primetime burger that she kept bragging about how good it was and to be honest it was next time I’m ordering it. Thanx to the longhorn steakhouse customer service dept. for making a wrong right and you definetly made a customer out of us for the foreseeable future.

Eating steak with my bro and his wife. Good service but drink was flat and a Lemmon was put in water even tho we asked not to. Anyways food os good so a decent review.

We have gotten good food here every time

Ive tried this place once in december and forgot to write a review, i ordered the filet and it was cooked the way i ordered it, medium rare. Such a relief considering that more than half of the restaurants ive tried in mcallen overcooked my steak.
So since my steak and the other people in my group got our meat cooked the way we asked, this place gets ⁴⁄₅ stars!
Definitely be going back to longhorn!

I just went worse service ever we left i waited for 20 minutes for our waiter to ask us what to drink they did not even say sorry they let us walk out of there

Food is good but not the place to go to when you need your food right away. It does take time to get your food. Waiting gave me this time to write this review. Our waiter gave us good service.

Had a really bad experience both times ive gone

My husband and I ordered calamari as an appetizer. Not the worst I’ve ever had, but not the best either. It was greasy. I did think the battered red pepper addition was interesting. The bread they serve is fairly typical for this class of restaurant – pretty tasteless. Neither one of us liked the dressings on our salads (honey mustard and blue cheese). My 6 oz. sirloin was cooked properly, but I didn’t like the taste of the meat. My mixed veggies were steamed just right. I improved the flavor of everything by slathering butter on it and adding salt. Nothing special to return for.

Not worth your time or money.
A group of us had dinner there tonight and it was an all around bad experience. It took them 20 min. and us getting up to get our waitress to get our drink order and it took them an hour to bring the food out, which they brought in three groups, making everyone wait to start eating. By the time the last plate was out, the first one to come out was already cold. The service was terrible and when we tried to talk to a manager there was not one in the restaurant.
