Amazing find in the Valley. Great food. Great ambiance. Great service. Went with my wife to celebrate a big sale I had this quarter. For appetizers we had the tuna Tatar which was amazing. We also tried the Rubix Salad which was also very good. For dinner we had the center cut tenderloin and the pork dish(forgot name). The tenderloin was out of this world. The pork was also very delicious. We had several drinks but I joyed the prickly pear Moscow Mule the best. The live band was fun to listen to also. My wife and I go to NYC at least twice a year and we felt we were at some trendy new eating joint in the heart of the city. We had a great meal and a great time. This place is going to the top of our favs for Valley restaurants. We even met Issac the owner. He was very pleasant too. I highly recommend this place.

I am a well travel person and had the privilege to eat in good places all over this nice country and other good countries as well but let me tell you something about this place: this is the real deal. Amazing experience here. I make a reservation over the phone and the person was helpful and nice. When I get there the manager knew about me and greet me like a friend. they have live music. I think it was a little loud for a small place but the music was really good. The corn appetizer was perfect. It is a classy«elotes» on a martini glass. Such an amazing idea. I had the salmon on a cigar box. So creative and the flavors were superb. The chef know how to play with your imagination there. If you want a place to impress your date or to celebrate something important or just for a perfect meal this is the place in the heart of McAllen. This is my favorite place in McAllen now. It is a «must visit» kind of place.

First class staff. Great vibe. Food is creative but comfort theme. Who doesn’t love roasted corn. But in a martini glass truffles and Sriracha. Bacon wrapped stuffed quail taco. Amazing. Want to come back and try more. Pork Confit. Ok pork rendered in duck fat… Sounds kind of like sex is next try. I was by myself for last day of 10 on a multi city trip. Got here early and instead of ignoring like so many locations actually sat and talked with me when prepping for crowd. Very good culture. Live entertainment perfect upstairs and a real speakeasy feel. For some expensive could be a description. I have paid tone more and got far less in my travel. I considered this a value for the combination of food, drinks, atmosphere, and quality of staff. The owner should be proud of the culture he has created. Hats off.

The Centennial Club has been a select spot for us for several years. The attention to detail, from the food to live music and overall ambiance, is spectacular. We have had group parties as well as private dinners, and the Centennial team never disappoints. The filet is world class, and they have a terrific wine list. I would recommend the Centennial to anyone visiting or from the Rio Grande Valley.

We really enjoyed our evening here. The food was wonderful and the facility is unique, to say the least. Hubby and I had great steaks done to perfection, and luscious desserts finished at the table. Our waiter was so helpful and able to keep our orders straight, even though we were with a rather large group and there was a lot of back-and-forth among us about appetizers, etc. The entertainment was just right. Altogether a great experience.

This is such a classy spot! It’s a speakeasy theme with Sinatra music and black and white movies playing in the background. They also have an upstairs, but it was rented out to a private party(with a DJ playing top 40s), so we were politely asked to dine downstairs. The drinks and dishes are aesthetically pleasing and pretty tasty. Their menu caters to their sophisticated clientele. Everything sounds and tastes far from ordinary. I wasn’t feeling very adventurous, so I stuck with the chicken(they had quail, duck, lamb, etc). But it really was unlike any other chicken dish I’ve ever had. This place definitely adds its own spin. The cocktails were simply delicious, and I’d go back for that alone. This place is a must try. And their service was superb! Our waiter was very attentive, courteous, and knowledgeable.

The Centennial is by far the classiest joint in the Valley. I love how much the arts are appreciated by this venue and its owner. Go for the amazing atmosphere and drinks, stay for the delicious menu, which includes quail tacos with(my favorite) jalapenos, queso fresco and bacon. We all know you can’t go wrong with bacon. I found out after the fact that these tacos made Texas Monthly’s most recent«120 Tacos You Must Eat Before You Die.» They belong on the list. As a border born and bred Texan, I know and *love* Mexican food. I can safely say I’ve never had a dish like this and that’s a good thing. It’s a delicious taste you don’t want to miss!

it was our 12 year wedding anniversary and my husband and I decided to celebrate at the Centennial club. We had never been there before and I was in the mood for live jazz music and great food. Turns out it was a Tuesday and they weren’t playing. We were about to leave in pursuit of live music elsewhere when we were introduced to the owner who convinced us to stay. That was the beginning of an amazing dining experience. The intimate georgous setting coupled with fantastic food, great wine and wonderful service made the the experience an anniversary to remember. We sampled a few different dishes selected by the owner, all of which were absolutely delicious. We started off with Jicama maquito taco. Using jicama as a taco played perfectly with the schrimp. Delicious! My husband tried the Tuna Tartar for the first and enjoyed it! This is a man who doesn’t like fish. The Salmon smoked in a cigara box made my night. The infused flavor of the smoke coupled with the the whiskey sauce was amazing! ! It was Indeed A Fantastic Dining experience made even better by the owner and staff.

Wow! The Centennial located downtown Mcallen! With a hint of the nostalgia, the fine, and the mysterious, you walk upstairs into what a back-alley speakeasy from the roaring 20s would be feel like. Order yourself a craft cocktail made with freshest ingredients and(like I did) try the decadent salmon smoked in a cigar box with tobacco leaf place on top of a pomodoro soup. I suggest to go later in the week or on the weekend when they have live music but you’ll have to rsvp cause the place get packed. Perfect for date-night.

The food was outstanding! I had the Sea Bass and my dad had the Tenderloin and they were both superb! For the quality of the food, I didn’t feel it was overpriced at all. The atmosphere was amazing. The service was a bit slow, but it was a nice relaxing evening. If you’re in a hurry, this isn’t the place for you, but if you are ready for a nice, laid back, delicious good time then this is the place to go.

All I can say is WOW! The entire experience is just phenomenal! Beginning with the décor and atmosphere to the food and the cocktails… This is easily one of the best restaurants I have been to… ANYWHERE! Absolutely LOVED the reclaimed wood and tin work on the interior. The chandeliers and upholstered booths upstairs bring to mind a decadent opulence of the 1920s. The menu is creative and full of exotic flavor combinations… try the butter leaf lettuce salad and the out of this world Lamb Chops… The handcrafted cocktails are divine. Try the Holy Smoke… The Spanish Coffee after dinner is downright orgasmic… and the flambed fruit for dessert was the perfect goodnight kiss…

An amazing place to feed the soul. Incredible and exotic food in a Prohibition era setting. Every little detail is taken care of in this extraordinary hidden gem in Downtown McAllen.

Continuing our journey in the Valley food scene, we found a treasure in the heart of the Downtown,(while that’s what we think the area is). Beautiful ambient, with velvet and wood, background live music with a soothing tune. What can I say, the salmon smoked in a box was amazing and the lamb chop was to die for, I could have licked the caramelized sauce. Well deserved five stars.

Excellent location. Superb customer service. Some of the best food I’ve ever had from the drinks to the steak and veggies. Amazing atmosphere and a very original vibe first to second floor. I love this place. I am going to make it my mission to come eat here at least once each business trip to McAllen.

I heard several positive reviews of The Centennial so we made a special trip from Brownsville to eat there. I can only say I was a little underwhelmed. In fairness, we did go on a Tuesday night so there was no live music and the place only had a few patrons. The ambiance and décor I enjoyed. Reminded me of what I thought a 30 speakeasy would be like. I was informed it was hotel at one time. The owner was very gracious and friendly and allowed us to sit upstairs although it was closed. In retrospect, we should have sat downstairs because the service was a bit slow. The beverages were very good. I recommend the Moscow Mules. The appetizer escargot and fried oysters were disappointing. Both were served inside mushroom caps which was not the way it was described on the menu and other ingredients described on the menu were absent from the dish. The Rubik salad had a great presentation but the flavor of this $ 16 salad was just unremarkable. The ribeye was good but overcooked. The tenderloin was overcooked and the balsamic reduction was over reduced and too thick. The salmon also overcooked. I would give this place another chance but would go on the weekend when it’s true character could be enjoyed.

What an experience. I fell in love with the ambiance as soon as we walked in. Upstairs was a total different world. Live music playing, intimate relaxing beautiful atmosphere. We joined another couple for a late dinner so we just ordered just about every appetizer. The shrimp, escargot w/mushrooms and the lamb. All amazing and so tasty. The cucumber martinis and were freshly made. To end we had two deserts one which had peaches and icecream the other was a drink coffee whipcream kahlua(had a little show to it while creating that) my new favorite restaurant. A place extremely unique to the valley.
