Always a great experience, food is great and staff are very friendly. Definitely will go back.

Hubby always gets the full order of Smelt with their deep fried potato chips. I like their Rueben with fries, which are crunchy and amazing. We always come here when in town visiting the hub’s brother, who swears by the place. He comes here daily! Lisa makes a noteworthy margarita.

We decided to try it on a whim… mostly for the «outside seating» and the crab legs. SOOOO Crowded and no real room to wait. Hostess was pleasant but, if we wanted to sit outside we had to come in… order food and then they would call us in to pick it up!!! No waitress for outside.
Thought ALL PLACES were non-​smoking within so many feet of the establishment by law… well they allow smoking on their patio… where we waited to get a table in their OVER CROWDED dinning room. Not a fan… food was good… salad bar was ok… our waitress was pleasant but, had way too many tables… hard to find her and get refills on our drinks and didn’t have really any wine mainly a beer and booze joint… BUMMER

Kief’s Reef is my favorite weekend spot! From the food to the service, you can’t go wrong. The crab legs every Saturday are the best, the rum buckets down at the sandbar are perfect, and every member of the staff make you feel right at home. I love the Reef!

Great food we come here all the time. Try the Acapulco gold wings or the pizza. If you are a fan of all you can eat crab legs and ribs this is the place (sat and sun). It’s a fun place in the summer, it’s right on the fox river.

I got the Jack Daniel bourbon burger its one of the best burgers ive ever had the person that took my order over the phone was rude but the burger made up for it.

First time here… thin crust pizza delicious. Mixed drink — very light on the alcohol. Ambiance — noisy bar scene. Waitress — horrible. Basically threw the menus down on our table and asked what we wanted to drink. No hello, how are you doing, nothing. Brought the pizza… literally skidded it across the table top as she was walking by. No clean plates (we had had fried pickles as an appetizer, so we had to use those greasy plates). Never checked on us to see how we were doing. Bus boy finally came by with a box for the leftover pizza. So the 3 stars are because the good pizza boosted the lousy service rating.

We were in the area car shopping and had not eaten all day so we were famished. It was early afternoon when we happened upon this oasis and the big cuban sandwhich was a winner and my cold PBR tall boy went down easy in the hot sun as we relaxed on the beach on an absolutely beautiful Saturday. The bar keep was helpful in suggesting a drink for my lady, a rum bucket. I called my food order in from the tiki bar and then walked across the street to get it.
Three seating options here, tiki bar by the water. Smoking does happen here. Deck off the restaurant. Inside the restaurant.
If you want to get your gamble on, you can do so inside.
Bikers love this place and not sure if there was a car show in the area but tons of sweet vintage rides. I can only imagine this place on a Friday or Saturday night.
A word to the wise, the sun can be very strong so bring your sunblock.

Wonderful place to come! The food was delicious! Emily was our server and she was great. They were super attentive and the food was delicious. We had the calamari, fish chips, burgers, southwest steak wrap, mahi mahi & incredibly mouth watering ribs. (Literally disolved in your mouth)

It’s defintly hit or miss. There’s time the food is great and there are times it’s burnt and not edible. Service is average. Avoid during the weekends. Very loud in there too.

Living in California but loving Kief’s Reef when I’m in town.
It’s a home away from home, with great food, outstanding service, always a friendly welcome with a warm smile. And in the summer, it’s like being at the beach because there IS a beach there right on the river. Drive, walk, or boat to some great food and drink. A favorite for locals and even San Diegans like me! Be sure to stop in. You’ll love it.

Second visit, worst thank the first. Had the Canadian shore lunch walleye. It’s been awhile since I’ve had a shore lunch cooked by a fishing guide. But the last time I did he didn’t have a deep fryer! Everything on the plate was deep fried and greasy. Nothing like a real Canadian shore lunch cooked in an iron skillet over a camp fire.
The service was poor. Our server barely said two words to us and seemed unpleasant. The dining area including our table was dirty. Not sure why they draw the crowd they do, mediocre food, poor service and dingy atmosphere. Many more better options out there.

Terrible service and they let smokers light up at the side door making the joint reek like an old time divebar. They allow electronic smokers to fog the joint inside too. If you want to eat your subpar meal whilst smelling maple tar electronic smokes and regular cigarettes, party on garth!

Food was OK, beer flat… When people smoke they go on the back porch. When the door opens, smoke comes in. Not 20 feet from entrance by any means.

Great food. Awesome fish fry on Fridays. Sometimes there’s a wait. Some of the waitresses tend to be on the slow side but overall good service. Kid friendly during dining hours. They make Mickey Mouse pizzas which makes my daughter so very happy. My only complaint was some idiot (think he was a regular) and one staff member having a racist conversation outside but there’s ignorant people everywhere.

I’m going to give them a solid 4 stars. Almost everything has been good. A couple of average items, but nothing bad. We had the all you can eat crab on Saturday. After the first plate the crab and butter was a little colder. Cold crab and butter just aren’t as good. I did have 3 helpings and they offered more. A true no guilt all u can eat! Next time will be the crab and rib combo to mix it up a little. Great place.

We started with a blood mary and vodka cranberry, our server/​bartender on Sunday morning was awesome. Bloody Mary was extra spicey and made well. We then ordered cheddar cubes and they were phenomenal. Since it was st. pattys we had some corned beef cabbage, which was decent but nothing to get excited about. Bourbon chicken sandwich was alright, not too great, very greasy, fries were good. Overall atmosphere was good, quiet for a Sunday mid morning.

Phenomenal Crab Legs and Ribs! We spent our last anniversary here and it was so much fun!

Nostalgic, Midwest, all you can eat salad bar and Fried Cod, $ 1.00 PBR what more can you ask for. And oh yeah, some great people watching. Great service, nice people. Wish I had a reason to go back and visit. Craving it right now!

Lets just say for descriptive purposes, you agreed to be blindfolded, placed in the back seat of a vehicle & told to expect an 6-​hour trip. Then you actually spend 6 hours driving to an unknown destination (I think I have some peoples interest here). Upon arrival your told your in the North Woods of Wisconsin. Do you believe it? Hell yes and here’s why.
Your bloodshot eyes view a well established building with an attached rear deck, a view of a passing river with a seasonal recreational area and a neighbor to the north with a couple vintage car ornaments anchored hub cap deep in the lawn. You walk inside and view a classic bar and dining area in used condition and all the better for it!
Everything about this place is North woods. The kitchen is well equipped and the staff takes food preparation seriously. The menu is actually quite extensive. ‘A” grade fish fry. Cold beer & friendly bartenders make happy customers.
Kief’s Reef is considered «Kid Friendly» but only by Parents and Grandparents that actually bring kids here! This is an Adult Playground! «Trix are for kids»…not bars!

I love Kief’s Reef! I love Kief’s for what it is… a river bar.
I love coming here on Sunday afternoons in the summer and listening to a live band and having drinks with friends.
And the bands the chose to play here all rock. I’ve never heard any of the more common pop cover bands here. They get bands that play classic rock and beach music mostly and I love it.
It is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon relaxing.
The food is good too, better than expected but it’s still bar food. And drinks are well priced.

The Friday All-​U-​Can-​Eat fish fry lived up to its billing. Huge hunks and planks of cod and expertly battered, fried and served piping hot and crunchy.
Potato pancakes are a nice option to fries and gives one that Wisconsin supper club feel.
But go hungry cause you need to ask for seconds and thirds to come out ahead on this deal. Or else save yourself the long drive and just find the nearest Culver’s for their cod or walleye fish platter.

I have only been to Keif’s once (for Taco Tuesday) but decided to try their Shrimp Po’ Boy sandwich instead of the taco special.
The roll the sandwich was served on was a little bit on the «crusty» side, but the shrimp were abso-​fricking-​delicious. Easily some of the best fried shrimp I have eaten.
Ever.
Tuesday is $ 3 Jose Cuervo margarita night also– tasty!
I wish they would change access to the «smoking» area outside– every time someone goes out for a smoke, there’s a blast of cold air that whips through the bar.
