We came to Deep Creek for weekend trip. We got there around 7PM and parking was full! We were a big party, 7 adults 2 kids, so we were told that waiting was 30−45min. I think we were waited more than 1 hour to get seated. Once we got inside, the place was much bigger than it looked from the entrance. Thier original beers were all great, and foods were great, but service was way too slow. Maybe because they were baking pizzas in brick stove in the back and cannot put not many large pizza at the same time, maybe because we were a big party. But waiting for pizza for over 1hr was little too long, especially for kids. Beers and foods were great and price was great too so only wish service was little better. Maybe next time I am here, I should pick the right time to go. If you go there with big party, I highly recommend to make a reservation in advance.

Thanks to Unilocal we found this awesome place!!! We spent the day at wisp skiing! Well my wife skied and I enjoyed the lodge! We were in the mood for something different! We ended up at the Mountain State Brewing Co. This place was about 2 – 3 miles away from the ski resort so it was easy to get to! We got here around 4 – 430 and got seated right away! It was a decent sized restaurant with a rustic feel! The service we got was fantastic! Our server helped us decide on what to get because there was so much on the menu that we didn’t know where to start! We went with the pulled pork(wild boar) and the flat bread(the yard sale)! These 2 choices were fantastic! The taste was fantastic and fresh! No one complaint at all! We also decided to try one of their hand crafted beers! I’m in this Guinness kick so we went with the miners daughter oatmeal stout! Talk about a fantastic beer!!! My wife and I decided that even if we didn’t ski, we would drive the 80 miles one way! This place is a must visit if you are in the area!!! Thank you Unilocal for showing us this AWESOME restaurant!!! 5 star rating for sure!!!

The place can be a bit loud at times, but the food is consistently good and the beer cold. Salads were yummy and the brick oven pizza is wonderful.

Stopped here for dinner while in Deep Creek on a cold, snowy night. There were only a handful of other diners in the restaurant but I could see this place filling up on a nicer-weather evening. The veg chili and bruschetta were both very good but I wasn’t impressed by their specialty, the flatbread. It was burnt and not very flavorful.

It’s a good thing that I take time to research good restaurants wherever we are planning to go, as one would never«just happen» to stumble upon Mountain State Brewing Co-it is seemingly out in the middle of nowhere. Nonetheless, it still had an ample amount of diners on this Saturday evening. From the outside, you wouldn’t think that this building would be a popular hotspot-it really is a large wooden barn! We seated ourselves in front of one of the televisions in order to watch the WVU game and browsed the menu. MSBC specializes in wood-oven pizzas-there are a few other meal options(a few sandwiches, salads, and appetizers), but don’t expect a steak dinner here. They have a large variety of thin crust, wood-fired pizzas: from the standard pepperoni to more unique creations like the North Camp, there is something for everybody. For three of us, we ordered two medium pizzas: the Fire on the Mountain, and a ½ North Camp and ½ Great Escape. The only thing that I wish MSBC would do is make a small size pizza, because when you only come with a few pizza, each person doesn’t want to order a whole medium pizza to try whatever flavor they desire. Other than that, the pizzas were absolutely delicious and had a lovely blistered crust thanks to the wood oven. The North Camp was the most unique on the menu: Alfredo base with spinach, chicken, cheese, and… nutmeg & cranberries! It was a great combination of sweet and savory toppings, however, the chicken was a bit dry. The Great Escape was I think my favorite: Alfredo base with spinach, roasted red peppers, portobellos, and feta cheese. I am not a huge fan of roasted red peppers, but the pizza was wonderfully juicy and flavorful. The Fire on the Mountain was my father’s choice, and also a delicious pizza-but I prefer more unique creations rather than standard pepperoni, sausage, and banana peppers. MSBC also has a great dessert menu, which is essential to any great restaurant in my opinion. I ordered the S’mores sundae, which was chocolate icecream, chocolate syrup, marshmallows, and graham cracker crumbs. It was very good for as simple as it was. I also needed a sweet snack for later, so I got a slice of their Peanut Butter Pie to go. The pie is not very sweet at all and is very light, luckily, the chocolate syrup and crushed Oreos made up for it. I highly recommend Mountain State Brewing Co. for delicious pizzas, drinks, and desserts if you are in the area, looking for a place to catch the game, or after a long day of skiing at the Wisp.

Enjoyed the amber ale with a bowl of chili and a kickin chicken. Great place next to the skiing and state parks. Not the usual fare. It’s different here and that’s mighty fine. This is our second time here and we are very happy.

Good beer, good pizza. Usually good service, but when it’s bad it’s bad. But if you like brick oven pizza and good craft brew I highly recommend this spot

Pizza(er, flatbread) is soooo good… and I love the ability to try lots of different craft brews other than their own beers here.

Good every time! The fire on the mountain pizza is my absolute favorite. The local goat cheese is an upcharge but worth it. A decent selection of beer to try and fast and friendly service keep us coming back.

We end up at Mountain State Brewing Co. every Fall during our yearly Deep Creek golf trip. The primary reason for our return each time is the restaurant is one of the few places that’s still open by the time our group arrives in town. It’s also a good space for large groups, and the service is usually really good, considering the nonsense that servers put up with from a large group of hungry guys. That’s mainly where the praise ends, though. The beer is solid, but the food leaves a lot to be desired, and the bathrooms are pretty disgusting. I’ve tried the pulled pork a few times and it’s always way too dry, and their pizza is the definition average. We try 4 – 5 different pizza types each year, and it’s fine for our situation: hungry, tired, and short on options, but nothing to write home about. Overall, Mountain State Brewing isn’t the type of place that you’ll be itching to return to for food, but if you’re looking for decent beer, a space that can accommodate larger parties, and you’re in need of sustenance when the options in town are shutting down, it’s worth trying. The food gets 2 stars, but because of the excellent staff, the beer, and«later» hours, it’s closer to a 3-star rating.

Came here after a visit to Swallow Falls State Park. We had 2 dogs with us so we sat on the patio in the shade. It was a beautiful day and the patio was really nice in the summer, but I can see how the inside would be really cozy in the winter b/c it looks like a great log cabin /apres ski place. They have an extensive menu of pizzas, and an awesome dessert list, so we indulged in both. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Deep Creek.

We stopped into Mountain State during our family trip to Deep Creek Lake. Overall, it was a nice experience and they had good beers, but it wasn’t anything to write home about. We ordered some nachos to start, and they were average at best. The pizza was delicious and was large enough for 2 – 3 people to share. It was good, and complimented the beer very well. Their beer selection was amazing for the area, and the restaurant was very spacious.

We ordered take out from MSBC last Saturday when we arrived in town. We shared 2 pizzas, a salad and the beef nachos. We got a pepperoni pizza and the firefly pizza. Both were good – the firefly pizza was outstanding! T he beef nachos were good. The salad was a waste. Lettuce with little else. Don’t waste your money on a salad — very dissappointing. Glad we got take out as the wait to be seated was 40 minutes. Recommend getting the take out!

Connor the bartender was very informative and nice — gave us samples of multiple beers as we decided. They have 4 house taps and 10 additional(room for more) taps of other craft brews. This place is not where you go for a coors light or miller… craft brews only which is fine for me! Got personal size pizzas(available for order at bar only) for $ 8-$ 10 and the house sangria(on tap, say WHAT!!!) was only $ 5 and change. Come here if you’re hungry and smart.

I had a blast playing games, drinking beer and hanging out with friends here over the weekend. The bar area is small, so I am glad we got there early enough to beat the dinner rush. We snagged a hightop and I loved the sawhorses that had been re-purposed into bar stools. I really liked the sampler of beers we tried: the oatmeal stout was my favorite. I also loved the bourbon barrel aged beer they had featured and was bummed they don’t sell it by the growler. Lastly, all the food that went by us looked and smelled fantastic. I really wish I had known of this place sooner as we probably would have spent more time here rather than wasting time elsewhere in the area. This will absolutely be my go to when we are at Wisp next time.

While up with friends in the Deep Creek area, we had decided on checking out Mountain State Brewing Co. for dinner. We had earlier purchased the IPA within the form of the bottles and were quite happy with the quality. So, the actual brewing restaurant and bar could only get better… right? Unfortunately…wrong. I ordered the stout for myself and my friends ordered a pitcher of the IPA for themselves. These were the only and last beers we ordered while at dinner. Both the IPA and the stout were flat and watery. As hard as it would seem to me, conceptually, for a brewing company to be worse than bud, coors or miller lite. And, even calling out the fact that they don’t serve those beers, I would have rather had a coors than to have drank what I drank with dinner. For dinner I had the Apple Butter Pulled Chicken Sandwich. The best part of this sandwich was the brioche bun. The chicken was dry and the bbq sauce was something that would have been better suited for ice cream, it was so sweet. Supposedly the pizza was ‘relatively’ good that my friends had, which is the only reason this review is 2 stars instead of 1. I’d suggest cooking for yourself and buying some beer at one of the local booze stores instead of making the effort to drive to Mountain State Brewing Co.

This was our second visit and I was thinking 4 stars was perfect until our dinner Sunday night. Don’t go on a Sunday. Why? They are apparently out of everything after a busy weekend. None of their own brews were available(really? none?!) and they were out of peanut butter pie. Sigh. Sadly none of his and hers favorites were to be found. That said, the food here is pretty good. We like to split the Blue Ridge Salad(greens, blue cheese, walnuts, cranberries — $ 8.95 for a large) and then a pizza. The Sweet Kickin’ Chicken is good(chicken, bacon, pineapple, spinach, onion with sweet chili sauce), but leftovers didn’t heat well thanks to the spinach. Like spicy? Try the Fire on the Mountain(pepperoni, sausage, banana peppers, onions and a biting chipotle sauce). Pizzas are $ 10-$ 25, depending on size and toppings. Kid’s options are traditional — chicken nuggets, cheese pizzas, etc. Kid’s drink not included. Smaller groups(four or less) seem to be seated in the bar area, and the other two rooms looked like all big groups at long tables or wide booths. The chairs in the bar area aren’t very comfy. Two bathroom oddities — the door to the ladies room is directly next to the pizza oven and prep station, and the container of pizza servers is on the ledge between the prep area and the door. And — this is weird — the toilet paper rolls are on the wall behind the toilets, so you have to either get some in advance or do some fancy twisting to reach it.
