Interesting venue with subpar entries. We had to bus our own table, had to ask for water three plus times, and our food arrived cold. Wish we had gone to the Egg & I instead.

First time in years to go here. I doubt I’ll be back. I ordered the special which included eggs, sausage patties, and pancakes. Eggs were overdone and hard. I ordered them scrambled medium. Both sausage patties were hard and looked like they’d been sitting in a bin all morning. We dined in around lunchtime, by the way. But hey, they serve breakfast all day. The pancakes are WAY too sweet. Tasted like I was eating super sweet glazed donuts in pancake form. My niece agreed. I also added hash browns with easy onions and they were so loaded with onions that they were not edible. And the onions were mostly raw. I watched our service write it down, so I know it wasn’t an issue with her. Hannah was our server and she was super friendly and courteous. Actually, she is the ONLY reason I am not giving a one star rating. There was another waitress who came in a few times and I was surprised at how she was using fowl language as she spoke with us. Super unprofessional. Lastly, when my niece checked out up front, the cashier(I think manager as well) asked her how our server was because they’ve had several complaints about her. Really? So unprofessional. They need to be more concerned with the kitchen help getting the orders correct. Again, our server was the only reason I did not give one star. I thought she was friendly and trying to give good service.

Best place for good home cooked food at an honest price — go in and its like stepping back in time old signs and and ads adorn the walls very comfy the staff is super friendly and the food is absolutely amazing just like grandma used to make down to the biscuits made from scratch — my new favorite café !!

Old style diner atmosphere. The place gets pretty crowded and it can be very noisy. If you’re wanting the latest décor and perfectly trained staff, don’t come here. It’s very«old school» and homey. The food is good and inexpensive.

I know this place has been here for 60 years but why. Coffee shop food is simple no frills food and this was not even that. The service totally sucked, dirty silverware, disgusting table and the service sucked. No credit cards WTF

We love Bill Smith’s. It’s the«Cheers» of breakfast joints. It’s very easy to feel like a regular here. The food is solidly good — whether you’re going for a high-protein omelette or the indulgence of a stack of blueberry pancakes. Get there early… the four large rooms can fill up quickly. The staff is welcoming and friendly. Get ready to be called«dear» or «darlin’.» They only accept cash, but they have an onsite ATM.

I’m so disappointed in my thanksgiving meal at bills café. I eat breakfast their a lot so we decided to try it for thanksgiving and was my worst dinner ever. The pot roast had so much fat none of us enjoyed any of it the beans were cold the mashed potatoes were not made with fresh potatoes. We all ordered pot roast. So we paid for food we didn’t eat and for $ 13 each meal expected home cooked food from a place that portrays itself as home cooked. Sorry it would not be cooked like that.

Part of the order never showed up after 3 requests and we had to get up to get our own coffee. What we did eat was ok. Hence 2 stars.

Been a while since I’ve been to Bill’s. Went this morning and the service was terrible and food was delivered cold. I hope this is not the new norm for Bill’s.

Country cooking with a great wait staff. If you want a good olé fashion American breakfast, then this is your place to go. Just remember to bring cash as I don’t believe they accept credit cards.

Walked in and greeted by friendly staff, very casual welcoming atmosphere. 4 dining rooms, endless tables and you seat yourself which was different considering the place was packed full of people. It’s like a step into the past with the décor and should stay just as it. Coffee was good, service was good considering the sheer amount of people inside, don’t visit if your cloister phobic or are having a secret meeting because tables are close, yet not a problem. Food was typical similar to Cracker Barrel or IHOP, Denny’s etc, but atmosphere makes this place. Don’t miss out if your passing through or new in the area.

Old school breakfast, lunch and dinner café. Great, great food and prices. Jumbo omlets, sawmill gravy, homemade biscuits, rolls and cornbread. It gets no better for home style cooking.

It would be great if it wasn’t so dirty. I’ve been three times and all three times the tables have been grungy and unkept. That’s not even the worst of it though. On all accounts there were flies buzzing around. Peeking back into the kitchen, people not in real uniforms were handling the food and of course the flies were around that area too. I’ve been too grossed out to come back again. It’s not worth the good price. I don’t know how they passed a health inspection

My wife and myself go to Bill Smith’s weekly. Some of the best down home cooking in Texas. My favorite is Meatloaf Monday. You can’t go wrong with a trip to Bill’s.

Greasy spoon. My omelette came out cold with shells in it and it was undercooked. I got biscuits and gravy as my side and the gravy was so bland. I couldn’t believe how busy it was. The service was also very slow and the servers all seemed stressed and discombobulated. We will not be returning.

This little hidden hole in the wall is the perfect find for anyone who enjoys breakfast for dinner. There are zero pretentious vibes here. Luckily we found one last table for two in a far off corner under a moose head. The waitress took our order and a few minutes later we had a perfect breakfast. It is nice to eat somewhere without having to dress to the 9s and feel completely comfortable. No credit accepted here, cash only. I will be back.

The variety of down home-style cooking is tops. The food was fresh, hot and delicious! You must go sink your mouth into the perfectly prepared yeast rolls and jalapeño cornbread muffins! I really like the waitress we had! She was not only attentive but super friendly!

I’ve been coming here for years. It is a typical down home breakfast joint with lots of locals that are friendly and talk shop to each other. The service is pretty good and the food comes fast. The décor takes you back a decade or three. It’s worth a visit if you are within 10 miles of the place.

First off, I’m a Big Bill Smith fan, but my last visit I must say the food was awful. I had the hashbrown plate(Forget official name). I was shocked at how it looked when it arrived. It was cold and not very presentable. I sent it back(I never do that) when it came back It was warmer(microwaved) but still looked bad. When I took a bite I was disappointed. Ive been in McKinney 13 yrs And have been to Bills numerous times. I hope MANAGEMENT reads this and looks into it. I will be back and I dont want this 1 review to discourage would-be new customers. I just thought I should speak up. JA
