Let me start by saying it is getting 1 star because the gentleman that lives on the grounds was very Service oriented and made many apologies to us that Management should have been making. If not for him, I would be looking for the«half a star» selection.(yes I know there is no half star) We sold our house in Austin, moving to McKinney/Frisco area to get a better feel of the two towns, figuring out if we were going to buy/build. So, we found this storage place, not much in the way of many options in McKinney so I went with it. I would call this place Low Rent. You don’t get much for what you pay for. If your items are not securely wrapped, or if you have not taken precautions to take care of them, they will get compromised. Upon moving in, they did not have the size we had reserved as it was flooded because of the rain. They could only put us into a larger size unit that was another 55 bucks a month more, so we took it.(who is going to want the flooded one, once it is dried out? It would just flood again) So, we just ate the cost for the year, never missed a payment as we had auto draft. I had to fix the door one time, as one of the guys who worked part time(I assume) didn’t know what to do about it. Yes i fixed it the first time, someone else fixed it the 2nd. Then the bugs, they are every where and some rodent got into one of our bags as it smelled of feces and waste. But wait folks… this is all the ‘good’ stuff I have to say. Drive past the facility heading North East. When you do you will see some squatters behind the storage units. Well, they must have figured we were kin… as they broke into our unit. Yep, I called the police, but they said«they were aware of the squatters» unless we could prove something was missing(we couldn’t) it would be up to the owner to ask them to leave. But then the police officer told me, that as he knew it, the owner«was allowing them to stay there, he knew they were there.»(??? WTH???) Hmm? Some of our stuff was looked thru, there were cigarettes left in the unit(we don’t smoke) and as best we could tell they took nothing. There was nothing of value in there, just personal items. So I told the Manager(one of them) Michelle, that they needed to fix this immediately. She then said she would need to speak with another manager or owner, story kept changing. They finally got it fixed the same day(why do you have to ask, as isn’t it obvious this needs to be done?) I asked for re compensation for the problem we had gone thru and who knew how long it had been open in the back as we didn’t go there every week. If nothing else, at least one month or half off, something… a cup of coffee? Last I heard, she was still going to get back to me, that was 3 months ago. I waited to exit the storage facility and gave her the benefit of the doubt. Never heard from them, they sure did take my last payment however. I am just going to let Unilocal do it’s thing. Don’t bother looking here, have a garage sell, or find another place. Psst…we bought a home, and last I checked… squatters still there in Tentville.

I enjoyed my experience at Extra Space. However, when I exchanged my lock, they weren’t able to credit the amount to my card, so I have to wait to relieve a check in the mail(seems a little crazy in this day and age). Also, I was caught off guard by the additional $ 15 a month for insurance. The facility was clean and the people were nice, but I was surprised there weren’t more security cameras.
