Extra Space Storage

Very easy transaction. Signed up on line and Steve (I believe that was his name) called me within 5 minutes to fill me in on the details and to thank me.

Great customer service. They had what I needed and promptly called me back. Sales staff was very helpful and knowledgeable.

This place is a DUMP.
My story began a couple years ago when I first moved to the mckinney area, I looked online for a nice storage place decently priced. After a little looking I came accross this extra space location. (It was called something different at the time) Online it showed a beautiful place, with nice storage units & green grass.
So I payed ahead for a unit online & showed up with my stuff when I got in town.
When I hit the front gate I thought to myself «this has to be a mistake» because this place is a dump. I mean these units are janky looking, the «office» is literally a mobile home, and a sh*t hole of one to top it off, all of the parking lot, & the cement that is between the units that you drive on is BUSTED UP, I’m talking pot holes to lose a car in. So I go inside and talk to a crochedy old man, and tell him «this isn’t what I saw online», he tells me that the place online is another property all together that they also manage, but this place is what it is.
So basicly I got a bate and switch pulled on me.
So by this time I am pissed off, but I already paid for the place, and I have a uhaul of my stuff that I have to put somewhere to get the uhaul back asap. So I think, hey, it’s a storage unit, it doesn’t matter what the outside looks like, my stuff goes on the inside & if it’s ok… nothing else matters.
I get the door open (the door is also janky) and the place is ‘COB WEBB CITY’. At this point I decide to put my stuff in & get the hell out of there.
I came back a couple weeks later to get a couple things out of the unit for my apartment, & As soon as I opened the door to the unit I could tell there was a problem… A BUG PROBLEM… A BIG BUG PROBLEM.
There are SPIDERS EVERYWHERE, SPIDER WEBS, RED MITES AND THEY ARE EVERYWHERE, the red mites aren’t poisonous, or harmful in any way, except when they are smashed they leave a red stain on whatever it is that they were on. THE UNITS ARE HORRIBLY SEALED, IF THEY ARE SEALED AT ALL
The property is on a raised plane that is 3 – 4 feet higher up than the property surrounding it, so when it rains, IT FLOODS ALL AROUND THE STORAGE UNITS, causing BUGS & RODENTS yo go for dry land, & I’m gonna guess that since it’s closest, they head for the storage units.
I called and told them (extra space customer service) that I would be moving in the coming months, & when they asked why I told them all of my complaints. The customer service lady seemed so shocked & said that wasn’t up to extra space standards, & that they would have somebody contact me right away… THAT NEVER HAPPENED.
THE ONLY REASON THAT I GAVE 2 1 STAR IS BECAUSE THE GUY THAT THEY HAVE RUNNING THE PLACE NOW (Steve i believe) IS AWESOME, I KNOW THAT THE THINGS THAT NEED TO BE DONE ARE OUT OF HIS HANDS, & UNFORTUNATELY HE HAS NO CONTROL TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THEM.
(I will say they have VERY RECENTLY replaced the old shitty mobile home office, with a newer one, & related a small bit of the parking lot, but they have yet to address the MASSIVE BUG ISSUE)

I looked around for a fair price for a while and was happy to find this place. Its well gated and the man who helped me set everything up was so friendly! The lease was explained well, too.
