The food is really good love the fried okra and brisket, service is ok, just wished they had more seating

This place is worth the drive. It has an upscale farmhouse décor and friendly, knowledgable servers. You WILL need a reservation if you want to eat here in the evening. They turn away 200 plus per night. The food is comfort food with a twist and it is all locally sourced. I would recommend this for a first date/special dinner. Excellent mixed drinks and soft lighting.

Ever since it opened I have been meaning to try Harvest. It’s name has come up over and over again in food blogs as a great farm to table restaurant but the lure of new openings downtown Dallas has always won me over and finally last night we made the trek to Mckinney on a whim. It was too late for reservations(they were fully booked already) but with the option of patio eating(first come first served) we took the chance. The patio was full on arrival(whomp whomp) but the hostess informed up should be just 30 minutes so off we went to the bar to wait. We got lucky and just as we arrived a spot opened at the bar(where you can also eat) so no wait at all :) Also the bar is located in the back of the restaurant right by the open kitchen so you have a great view while you eat there. This restaurant is beautiful. Rustic yet trendy and they had a guy singing country tunes. The main restaurant is just beautiful with big winged couch booths and small side tables Everything is locally sourced and even the cocktails have homemade infusions. We ordered the deviled eggs to start us off and they arrived on a cardboard egg create.. Very cool. Most importantly yet were delicious. Hubby got the chicken fried steak… cooked perfectly. I opted for the fried chicken and this dish is huge…2 giant legs and 2 breasts delicately fried with collard greens on the side. There were lots other dishes on the menu that I would have loved to try so a return trip is a must. For dessert we choose the goat cheese lemon pie. It was richer than I expected so a little hard going at the end of a big meal but that was my fault not theirs for stuffing myself. Highly recommended this restaurant and being right on the historic downtown square it makes for a lovely evening out.

Very, very good food. Service was acceptable. But, the kitchen time was too crazy fast. We went on a Wednesday night for our anniversary dinner. We ordered the DELICIOUS deviled eggs as an appetizer. It was almost uncomfortable how quickly they came out — like, we said it out loud and they immediately appeared on our table as if a genie conjured them up for us. Thankfully, we ordered our dinner after the appetizer, and we were glad that it would delay things a bit. The short rib and chicken fried steak were once again outstanding, but it was shocking how fast the food arrived at the table. It was served faster than you would expect a fast food place to move… we aren’t even sure how they could assemble pre-cooked things that quickly. Apparently the kitchen speed threw off the bar, as it took too long for drinks to come out. I had to ask for my glass of wine halfway through my entrée(even though I had asked for it to be served together). I had to slow down eating just to have some wine with the food. I know usually people complain about things taking too long, but in this case, our relaxing anniversary dinner with 2 courses took less than 45 minutes, including paying the bill. This would be perfect for lunch. But for dinner, it was way too fast — we were unsettled by it. We will return, for sure, but we will ask them to slow down a bit.

The absolute best restaurant in McKinney. Quaint and inviting atmosphere with low lighting for a romantic and sophisticated feel. The food is AMAZING, some of the best I’ve ever had. The staff is friendly and our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu. I wish I could eat here every day! 5 stars well deserved. You can tell that a lot of love and passion goes into this food. Props to the chef and the whole staff!

How does Harvest make a better steak than Rick’s? Aw, lawd the rib eye is to die for. Ok, I’m getting ahead of my self. This is our second visit to Harvest. Our first was amazing, but then we became enamored with Sugarbacon and forgot Harvest. Then my fellow Unilocalers kept writing reviews on my feed and reminded me of the other amazing eatery on the square. We were celebrating Valentines on Wednesday night because our son has a baseball tournament this weekend. I had also seen on their menu they had crab tacos and I had to try them. When you walk in you can tell it is an upscale farm to table diner. The tables are real wood and the decorations are farmer chic. They have a large selection of infused liquors. They have many infused cocktails. The hubby had the smoked Manhattan and I had a glass of Pinot Grigio. We started with the crispy short ribs. They were so tender and moist. It also was accompanied with a peppery pickle relish. It was a perfect start to our meal. Then we had the smokey Caesar salad. The greens were crisp and fresh and the dressing was zesty and tasted homemade. I of course had the crab tacos. It was fresh lump crab meat topped with Cole slaw and a tangy sauce nestled in a crispy taco shell. This was all on a bed of black rice. I would have enjoyed this dish so much better if it was in a soft corn tortilla. I shared this idea with the manager on duty and he brought me the taco I imagined. It was sheer perfection. If you get the crab tacos order them with corn tortillas, you won’t be sorry. The hubby had the most amazing steak of our life. Our server, Sheldon said they smoke the rib eye for half an our then grill the steak to perfection. It was tender, flavorful, and melt in your mouth perfection. It was served with tenders carrots. It was an awesome Valentines meal that left us wanting to come back for more.

Good food and good service! Order the deviled eggs! The food is good and their farm to table concept just makes it better. I’ve been here twice so far and ordered essentially the same things both times. The fried chicken was cooked to perfection. It came out hot and the skin was crispy. It wasn’t too oily. I LOVE their deviled eggs. The combination of egg, pecan, and relish go very well together. The pimiento and cheddar cheese was good but not something I’d order again. Definitely try the fried chicken and deviled eggs. The first time I came here, it was my birthday, and I was presented with an Apple Brown Betty for dessert. So nice and delicious! I love the décor of this place — trendy and rustic. The ambiance is perfect for date night or any night or any day! I can’t wait to come back and introduce more friends to this place. Did I mention that you should get deviled eggs? Get it.

I never give 5 stars, but Harvest is outstanding. You are not going to have a better farm to table experience in Texas. If you do, contact me and let us know. Harvest is crazy delicious and the service is always top notch, M&M&

We recently decided to venture into downtown McKinney on Saturday night for dinner, as opposed to our normal more lengthy excursions to bishop arts or downtown Dallas. We were pleasantly surprised by the look and feel of Harvest. Very cool, really comfortable, and good food. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice meal. The atmosphere can be romantic or just upscale. The service was top notch! Really great staff, I can’t say enough about how well we were taken care of. I do have to say that the chicken fried steak my date had was a little tough, and the skin was falling off. A sub par chicken fried steak for the place and price. Everything else was wonderful. I had the wagyu short ribs, and they were prefect. No bones though. We are going to come back, but Harvest really needs to step up their game on the chicken fried steak, that was atrocious.

Dinner here with friends during the holidays. We made a reservation. Parking was easy down a couple of blocks. Check-in was easy. We were waited on by like 7 different people all doing a different job. It was awesome! They took our coats, got a coat check #, got us drinks, water, etc. Food was great, atmosphere terrific. Great drinks. Would definitely come back. Love the concept. They even have a cute party room upstairs. Really cute! Angela waited on us & she was SO informative, friendly & all around fantastic. I am so bothered to see people leave 1 star reviews & they never even made it into the location to actually enjoy the food or the experience. They abuse their power to review: D babies! Anyway I loved it. Wish I took more pictures because I had this Pumpkin Spice Martini after a couple of bourbon & waters — & it was DEFREAKINGLICIOUS!!! It was basically my dessert. I honestly can’t even remember what I ate. We had apps, our meals & shared dessert too. I know that one person in my party felt their food wasn’t as hot as they would have liked it & asked Angela if she wouldn’t mind to just quickly re-heat it. Manager came right over & they made her a brand new hot dish! Didn’t take too long either. Completely unexpected & very professionally done. So when they treat you great, & the food is great — you have a great experience AND that’s what you remember! Can’t wait to go back! Loved that big booth. So fun!

Yes! Brought some new friends here because of awesome past experience and was not disappointed! Atmosphere was just as we remembered. We got the chance to wander around the square for awhile before our reservations and took some amazing pics against some really nice backdrops. Arrived back onsite still early so we got to enjoy the bar area for a few minutes before friends arrived. Great service, nice selection. We were seated promptly and our waitress was super personable. She answered all questions with minimal hesitation and offered suggestions for food restrictions. We had a great time like before, I’m so happy I bought a gift card for my parents for Christmas, I know they will love it as much as I do! Everyone loved the deviled eggs!!! Epic!

Farm to table concept. We came here with some friends on a friday night. Loved the«country» rustic feel to it. We started off with the Deviled eggs and Crispy ribs. The eggs were served on an egg carton which I thought was creative. These eggs were so good and loved the pecan on each of them. The crispy ribs were really good as well. They were tender and fall off the bone ribs. I ordered the Grapefruit cocktail. The grapefruit was really fresh. It wasn’t a juice out of the can! I ordered what I thought was the pork enchiladas but it ended up being brisket enchiladas for my meal. They were good but the tortilla was a little thick and not that soft. The enchiladas were flavored really well with alot of fresh vegetables. I was able to try the chicken fried steak and it was fantastic. It came with mashed potatoes but I would leave the sweet sauce off of the mashed potatoes. Heather was our waitress and she was very attentive. She answered all our questions and was patient with those who were very indecisive(me). I really did like the ambience and loved the musician who sang and played his guitar. I look forward to coming back to try the seasonal items!

Nicely done farm to table restaurant, with many local ingredients make this is a pretty unique offering in Downtown McKinney. The interior is nicely done with a very clean rustic feel, with a full bar offering unique drink specials. The food was very good. We had the deviled egg appetizer that I will definitely order again, and the polenta fritters were awesome. The entrée’s we tried; fried chicken, crab tacos, and creole shrimp dish that was all very good. Another great option in McKinney: very reasonable prices for the type of food they offer.

I have found my new favorite restaurant! My family visited the restaurant because we’d heard such amazing things about the quality of food and how they source most ingredients from local artisans! The feel of the interior was very upscale while still very natural. We started with deviled eggs that were the best I’ve ever had! We loved every dish we tried Cobb salad, House Hamburger, Chicken Fried Chicken and Crab Tacos all amazing!!!

I first tried Harvest a couple of months ago and wasn’t wowed. I had ordered the crispy crab tacos and they were underwhelming and bland. I love the space inside Harvest and wanted to give them another try — and so glad I did! Friends were visiting and we went for a birthday dinner. I had the Kale salad(delicious!) and my Husband and I shared the chicken fried steak. Amazing but a HUGE portion. Even just half filled me up leaving no room for dessert. At my table the chicken and biscuit app was consumed along with the grilled chicken. Both of my friends loves their dishes as well. Harvest — I will be back!

Came here with my brother the other night and we both loved the look and feel of the place. Rick Wells(owner of Rick’s Chophouse) decided to bring a little chic farm-to-table flare to historic McKinney. The atmosphere was a nice mix of upscale and low-key/unbothered. — Boudin Fritters: too small of a portion… presentation is beautiful, but I’m trying to figure out how to get more of the aioli onto the fritter without screwing up the preso, 2.5 out of 5. — Chicken fried pork loin: crisp veggies(honey glazed carrots were yum-o), nice portion size, lacking a little on flavor, 3.8 out of 5, tasty. — Creole pan seared shrimp: forked a couple bites of this one, 3.5 out of 5. Eating this meal just made me feel like a healthy world citizen. Service was great, and I loved leaving with a little favor of sorts — plantable paper(5 out of 5). I’d return to try griddled wheat, fried chicken, and the lemon goat cheese icebox pie!

Let me start off with saying this place is very charming and has impeccable service. They offer some live acoustic style music while you dine or enjoy the bar. Harvest has some really cool cocktails made from freshly infused items right in their restaurant. Even though the bar was full, we had two waiters quickly working to get us drinks while we waited for our table.(I would recommend reservations on the weekend) We started with some appetizers: deviled eggs, fried squash and the pimento cheese dip. I think I will crave the pimento cheese dip. The chips was so crisp and delicious with the melty cheese!!! The squash was fried perfectly and had the right amount of corn meal to sodium taste for me. THe deviled eggs were also tasty and rather unique. They weren’t pickly or mustardy… they were different and creamy. I ordered the pan roasted sea bass. It was a thick cut and cooked well, but I did not prefer it. It was a little bland and the sauce was just a little too unusual for me. My husband had the brisket enchiladas and they were fantastic. The corn tortillas were thick and fresh and the meat was juicy. I will definitely order those next visit.

I was very excited to try Harvest since the last time we walked by when we were in downtown, we couldn’t get a table due to a 2-hour wait. I was like, «WOW, I must come back with a reservation next time.» The décor is pretty nice and rustic for a farm-to-table restaurant. They had live John Mayer type music on the night we went so that was a plus in my book. Now down to the food, I was tossed between ordering the Fried Chicken or the Roasted Chicken dish. Since I wanted to be good and healthy, I selected the Roasted Chicken meal which I found bland and under-seasoned so not sure what happened there. Maybe it was an off night for the Chef. My side order of french fries were excellent and root beer float was quite yummy. Service was very good. They checked on us quite often so gold medal for the wait staff.

Harvest in downtown McKinney is a great local sourced farm to table restaurant that puts emphasis on local ingredients. It’s a beautiful, upscale space that matches the elevated American cuisine perfectly. Here you’ll find a menu that features comfort staples like fried chicken along with hard to find dishes like wild boar. Harvest is the perfect name for this restaurant. My Overall Rating — 4 Stars(Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere — I love walking in downtown McKinney. It’s pedestrian friendly, and you feel like you’ve been transported back in time. Harvest is a gem. Inside is a beautiful space. The front has a comfortable lounge/waiting area. There are booths with extremely high backs, and towards the back the dimly lit restaurant has an industrial feel with its exposed brick walls and concrete floors, but it manages to stay warn. Our Friday night dinner had an excellent guitarist/singer providing some great music for the evening. 1 Star. Service — Harvest has a unique theme, and our server did a fantastic job walking us through the concept and menu. Honestly, I think we had him explain almost every main dish in detail so that we could make an informed decision. Excellent service all around. 1 Star. Food — Harvest is one of those restaurants where you’re afraid your dinner party is going to order a dish that’s better than yours because the menu looks so good. We started with Deviled Eggs — they were solid but not sure I would have to order them again. We also ordered their meat & cheese plate — nothing major here. The star appetizer was the Pimento & Cheddar Cheese. This amazing dip was served melted in a small pan along with bread for dipping. In about 5 minutes, this gooey pimento cheese dip was gone. For dinner, I went with the wild boar. The wild boar resembled a rack of lamb chops, but tasted like a pork tenderloin. It was very tender, served in a light broth, and had no game flavor at all. It was delicious as well and very fun to say I ate wild boar. Overall the quality of the meal is excellent. 1 ½ Stars. Will I Return? — Probably. For someone who lives closer to Dallas, a return visit to Harvest is limited by distance not by want. I will probably be back, it’s just a very long drive. But if you live in the McKinney/Allen area, Harvest is a must visit and one of the best restaurants in the area. ½ Star. My Unilocal Rating Scale(Sum of all parts): 1 Star — Atmosphere — Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I’ll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star — Service — You can have a great meal with bad service. But that’s also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It’s important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars — Food — I’ll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it’s really all about the food. 1 Star — Will I come back? — If I know for a fact I’ll return, I’ll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food(2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Unilocal score.

This was highly recommended by a couple friends and we tried them on Saturday for lunch. The wait time was nothing around 1pm. The use of wood, rope and tin looked great for the décor. The table for two we were taken to gave us a great view of the entire location. The freshness of the field to table approach is in every dish. We tried several items in the menu and over did it the first time. Make sure you walk back to the kitchen area and what the team prepare the meals. Super fresh! The service was prompt and refills were perfectly timed. We will be back.
