This is an odd place. I’ve passed it repeatedly. From the outside it looks very small — like a take-out restaurant. and it is isolated on a stretch of cement totally devoid of charm. Nevertheless I peeked in and discovered that it is really quite large, with comfortable Japanese décor in the interior. I am a connoisseur of sushi and have been eating it for more than 50 years. Unfortunately my doctor has advised me to eschew carbohydrates because my blood sugar is too high. Therefore lately I’ve been eating sashimi and having a fairly miserable time. At the restaurants where I used to enjoy sushi, their sashimi is overpriced and pitifully skimpy. I have found that in order to get a full meal featuring sashimi the total cost of a Japanese meal has nearly doubled. BUT… At Kobe an order of sashimi costs about half what it costs elsewhere in the vicinity and the quantity is about double. In fact the bargain gets even better at noon on Monday and Wednesday when they offer a 50% discount on sushi and sashimi! The flavor was very satisfying — in fact their seaweed salad is the best I’ve had. I’m eager to return. When I do I’ll revise my rating if I find a reason to. In the meantime they are #1 on my list!

The first thing tool notice waking in is the humidity and muggy smell. They need to get their AC fixed or crank it up. Their sushi is not very fresh either, it seems pre-made. The reason why I’m giving it a 3 and not a one is because their hibachi saves them! Their chicken teriyaki is really good. Also, the kids loved the show the chef put on.

Very pleased with the Hibachi(haven’t tried the sushi). Scallops were excellent. Chicken was very good. Lunch prices are very reasonable and come with yummy fried rice! We’ll definitely come back.

We were seated right away, and our drinks came out immediately(which was a plus). It was very empty and so our server was mainly foccused on serving us. After a while she disappeared. Their salad wasn’t the best, nor their soup. The quality of the food was alright. Wouldn’t come back again.

Can I get a glass of water please!!! Waiter came and took our drink order, then at least 15 minutes until they come out with the water and drinks and she messed up my drink. I ordered their Tokyo iced tea, their version of a Long Island iced tea with a splash of Diet Coke instead of Coke. They brought me two diet cokes. The place was empty. Two tables with customers and us. When the waiter finally came back, due to the delays we placed our order for apps, sushi and our meals. We ordered some sushi and tempura for apps, but the sushi that was requested on soy paper came out on seaweed. During the meal, my wife and daughter went to the ladies room and ran out saying it was grosser than a truck stop. That’s just nasty. The food was ok at best. Don’t waste your time or money in this joint. Go down the street to Shogun. The food and service is much better. I won’t be going back here again!

This is our go to hibachi joint. It’s ten times better than Shogun and much cheaper than Jin Beh. The food is always fresh and my kids eat free(they get soup, hibachi chicken and fried rice and veggies; if you want steak or shrimp they just charge you the difference, I.e. $ 2 for shrimp) on the weekends and other than the really unpleasant smell in the bathroom area(they’ve got bad plumbing) I have zero complaints. Service is always top notch and while it may not be busy, it’s not because it’s not terrific. We celebrate birthdays and anniversaries here all the time and they are always helpful and great with the kids.

This is one of the best Japanese places I have been to in the DFW area. It’s kind of set back in a shopping strip, so it’s not super busy during the week. The drinks are very reasonably priced and the food is excellent. I would say that the Fried Rice and Filet is better than any other similar places around. I would highly recommend this to anyone in the mood for great food and entertainment while eating!

My husband and I have been coming here for about 2 years now. The place is never slammed busy, and we can’t quite figure out why. Lunch time has great prices and dinner time is very competitive and reasonable. My husband is obsessed with the miso soup and teriyaki chicken. I love the food every time and the service is always great. Love the hibachi! Great food, great place!

Nice, clean, accommodating hibachi place. We didn’t have to wait long to be seated, food was great and service was good too. I’m not going to judge the chef’s performance using anything other than the food, which was very good. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food, absolutely no complaints.

Sushi quality poor. Sushi age questionable. Chefs artistic ability was poor. Did not finish my meal.

I’m so sad about this establishment:(My husband and family have been eating here for years! It has been a joke that we will eat the Kobe and they tell me I’m sorry we have no Kobe. Tonight, they said they have Kobe at $ 55 and we watched it, he the chef, put the same steak on the grill for fillet, our Kobe Steak and our sons ninja steak. I want to make it abundantly clear, we eat out at 4 plus star restaurants A LOT and mostly rave and rumble about said restaurants on our own. However, we when we are clearly cheated by the quality of the menu and then«comforted» by a dessert for our 11, year old son it is so sad to say we will NEVER go back!!! This restaurant serves sub par menu items as of 2−7−15 with the management authority. Our loyalty lost FORVER!!!

Understaffed, dirty bathrooms, long wait times for everything. Server was seating guests, being a server, and bussing tables. We got our appetizer before the drinks, too. Food was just okay.

Our first visit… We will definitely return! Popped in for a few sushi rolls & were pleasantly surprised to find what we had stumbled upon! Sat at the sushi bar & ordered a Volcano roll, California roll, Crunchy roll & Shrimp Tempura roll(sadly, we don’t do the raw stuff). Everything was absolutely fresh & delicious. We were the only ones there until a large party came in & was seated at the Hibachi table. Great service. And they deliver! Sushi ½ price on Mon & Wed. Prices very competitive. Two thumbs up!

Place is very nice and traditional. I was not impressed with the sushi. small pieces leaves you hungry and not satisfied. It was fresh and tastey but not satisfying

Why does it take 30 minutes to get sushi here? This happens even when it isn’t half price Wednesday(when I usually go). If you know it’s going to be busy on your half off days, please hire someone else to help or train someone to help you during the rush. This kills me every time. Especially when no one even checks on us for the ENTIRE30 minutes. Update: We received our last 2 rolls around the 40 minute mark after we told them it was time to leave. I’m sure they felt bad, since they boxed it up to go FORUS but we’re kind of done. It’s not worth the stress and we will be finding somewhere else to go on Mondays and Wednesdays for lunch :( Good rolls but horrible horrible time.

I’ll start with: HOT! Holy hell it was hot! It was Saturday night and apparently their AC was out. Solution? 5 strategically placed fans in the hibachi table area. Enough? Oh but no. Not even close. How can you be a restaurant and not be able to find someone in DFW to provide emergency service at any price. Not a single service truck in the parking lot. Not a single dry scalp in the place. Fortunate for me I sat next to one of the fans so the heat was bearable. Service — The waitress was slow. as in cold molasses slow. Took 20 minutes to bring the first water. Refills took prompting and then took time. Did I mention it was freakin’ hot? Dear waitress, that puddle next to me is not water I spilled, it’s sweat! Seeping from every pore of my flesh! Get your head in the game! Food — marginal. This place certainly has the fastest hibachi staff in town. Full table of guests and the entire show lasted maybe 10 minutes. But then this was possibly not the best night to judge. After all, they no doubt wanted to get away from the super heated flat tops as fast as possible. Chicken was overcooked. Steak was not at all prepared to requested temp. Appetizer soup was lukewarm. Sushi was poorly rolled — very loose and difficult to manage(reminds me of a girl I once new). Oh, and they need to invest in some degreaser. The floor was stickier than one at a 20 year old theater. The salt and pepper shakers had at least a couple of grease coats on them. Go somewhere else for everything these folks serve. There are better places, even if you must drive a few extra miles.

We ended up here by fate. We went to Shogun, which is our go to hibachi place in Mckinney. When we got there we noticed it is now closed for lunch Mon. — Thursday. I remembered reading some Unilocal reviews about this place and gave it a shot. Now, it is kind of hidden and maybe that’s why I never knew it was there. It’s behind McDonald’s on Eldorado. The décor and grills are completely updated compared to Shoguns. Our waitress was very nice and very attentive. We started off with fried calamari. It was perfectly fried with a sweat tangy sauce. My son gobbled it down and I was only able to eat one piece before he inhaled it. I ordered the green salad, the chef’s sushi sampler, and a shrimp tempura roll. It was all yummy.(I do wish they had a bento box, that would be a great idea for their lunch menu) My sons ordered the lunch hibachi chicken and the kids hibachi shrimp. They were pleased. I do have to say the hibachi chef here is not as «showy» as other other places. All in all it was a great experience. We will definitely be back.

I enjoyed the location in Little Elm so was pleased to learn they have one in McKinney. My husband ordered a spicy tuna roll and I ordered a shrimp tempura roll. Mne was mediocre but good and my husband really liked his. We both got the chicken and shrimp hibachi. It was a Saturday night and the place was DEAD. I have no idea how how they will stay in business. The service was pretty good, no complaints there. Better prices and service than Shogun, that’s for sure!

We just moved to this part of Texas & my husband & I are very particular about sushi. We are definitely not sushi snobs but we have similar tastes for it. We tried Kobe on a whim & loved it!!! We went at 3:30 on a Sunday so it was dead but I can’t wait to go back. The Fried Calamari was great but nothing like you would expect. It was like a fancy, tempura fish stick. But they were delicious!!! Then we had 4 rolls: Spicy Salmon, Crunch Roll, Calamari Roll & Spider Roll. We loved them ALL! I also just read that they deliver so that’s a bonus! Can’t wait to try more. Also want to try the $ 6.95 Bento Box.
