Densetsu is way better… Tried the«fashion show». It wasnt the best sushi i had.

I had the baked salmon roll and a shiawase roll. Very good! One is rich and flavorful and the other is refreshingly perfect. Great to eat together by myself. Portions are big but I couldn’t resist. Takoyaki is crispy outside and creamy and soft inside with chewy octopus. Very good! This is my second visit to this restaurant. I find it more enjoyable to come around 5 – 6 rather than 8 – 9 for dinner. Atmosphere is more relaxing. Less people and less noisy. Also less clanking of dishes echoing throughout the restaurant.

This is now our go-to sushi spot. Haven’t been disappointed yet! The pieces are huge, so make sure you don’t over order. Great service and atmosphere as well. Love this place!

I guess we caught these guys on a bad night. We arrived around 7pm and were immediately seated which was surprising because of how packed it was. We placed our order which was small and then proceeded to wait, and wait, and wait. About an hour later we inquired about our sushi. We were advised by the wait staff that our food was coming, we were also treated to a free appetizer for waiting. An hour after that one of my fiancé’s rolls came out along with half of my sushi order. After we finished we decided to cancel the rest of our order because we had basically waited for two hours for only half our order, not cool especially when you’re sitting at the bar and watching them grab plate after plate, none of which are your food. We had it bad but not as bad as the family sitting behind us. The father decided to leave only paying for his drinks because they had been sitting at their table for over two hours with no food and small children on the verge of having a hunger meltdown. Pretty telling. I guess the only thing saving this from being a one star review is my fiancé was given a gift card in hopes that we will give them another try. Perhaps we will pay them another visit. Oh well, at least I got to see the Mavs game.

I knew Shiawase would be amazing because it is owned by the original owners of Densetsu. We ordered several dishes including Chirashi, Dinner Bento with Miso Black Cod and Salmon Teriyaki, The Lion King Roll, and the Ahi Tuna Tower. Everything was delicious and of course, their portions were huge! We left full and satisfied. Unlike Densetsu, this place has ample seating(hence, no need for reservations) and lavish décor. However, the price point is $ 3 – 5 higher… for the same exact food!

This place looks pretty opulent. It is actually unreal the amount of detail goes into the atmosphere alone that my expectation was higher and they didn’t not disappoint. On the tab… Beef teriyaki bento box Fashion show roll Heavenly roll Ok so it doesn’t look like a ton of food I got but believe me when I said it was A TON of food. The bento box came with tempera, soup, four pieces of California roll, rice and the beef. Along with the orange at the end. I have to say the tempera was actually the star of this bento. Yes, the beef was delicious and not overly soggy with sauce but the tempera shrimp and vegetables were tender, the batter was crispy and not too thick and the sauce was not too sweet or too salty. The California roll was huge and the miso soup was delicious with lots of flavor. The fashion show roll was GIGANTIC and this is coming from a girl who can thrown down some roll. It is literally all you need. It has all the major players in sushi in sashimi form on top plus a California roll on the bottom. Btw, since I got to try a lot of fish this way… I’m highly impressed with how fresh the fish is! I would definitely reorder this. The heavenly roll, okay so in comparison to the fashion show roll it was second place but if I didn’t feel like the nori wrapping or the rice, this would definitely be my first choice. The cucumber and fish was fresh and delicious and the sauce was a lovely compliment. It was a little hard to eat but I made it The service was pretty darn good. One of the servers even recommended the two rolls that I ordered. They were all very kind and pretty attentive. I make a sweeping generality because I wasn’t actually sure who my server was but they were all good. The price, well it was actually pretty inexpensive for what you are actually getting but not cheap. Maybe not a weekly joint but definitely a monthly one.

My family loves Japanese food and Densetsu has been our favorite sushi restaurant in the Plano area. My parents still go there at least once a month or so. Therefore, when we found out that the owner of Densetsu has opened a new bigger restaurant, we just had to squeeze some time out during the holidays to visit it. First impression, what an upgrade in terms of floor space! The high ceilings and the glamorous decors certainly provide a more upscale look. The sushi chefs are no longer crammed into a tiny kitchen anymore. Good for them. Though I do kind of miss the more homey feel of Densetsu. But besides the upscale look, it’s obvious that the restaurant is owned by the same owner. It’s actually kind of funny. The menu design is exactly the same, just in a different color scheme. Over half of the main courses and the rolls are exactly the same. Even the final complimentary mandarin orange dessert is exactly the same. For the food, we ordered an appetizer plus four rolls. As usual, their portion sizes are large. We(2 adults) finished about 2⁄3 of the rolls and brought the rest home. Takoyaki: Looked like regular meatballs due to the darker«color» but tasted great. Above average on my takoyaki scale. Heavenly: The cucumber wrap actually made it look a little cheapo but the fish were really fresh. Includes ahi tuna, salmon, yellowtail, shrimp, and avocado. Only for raw fish enthusiasts. Romantic Danny: Recommended by the server and it didn’t disappoint. Shrimp tempura and spicy tuna on the inside and seared salmon on the outside topped with crispy onion. The rolls are sliced first and then seared all around using a torch. Nice balance of cooked and raw meat. Highly recommended. Dynamite Roll: One of our favorites from Densetsu. Just as good, with tons of scallops and crawfish toppings. Always recommended. Dragon Roll: Classic, can’t go wrong with this. Overall, the food quality was on par with Densetsu’s but with more options to choose from. The experience is more modern and classy instead of the darker homey feel at Densetsu. However, you’re also paying more. The rolls now cost around $ 15 – 18 instead of $ 12 – 15, even for the exact same rolls. So unless the quality at Densetsu degrades significantly under the new owner OR I’m coming with a party larger than 6, I’ll probably still go to Densetsu instead, due to its more centralized location and the cheaper price. P. S. Shiawase is loosely translated to «happiness», but there isn’t really a single English word that captures its meaning. It’s more like a combination of being happy, content, and lucky at the same time.

I’ve been to Shiawase a few times now and have consistently received good service and great food making it one of my favorite sushi restaurants to eat at. When you first walk in you’re immediately greeted by every single employee. It’s in another language which I’ve been told is a Japanese welcoming greeting. We always get seated right away and our servers have always been very attentive to our needs. Onto the food… the sushi is very fresh and they give quite generous portions. My personal favorites are salmon, tuna belly, and yellowtail. For sushi rolls I recommend salsa dance(warning: the portion is huge lol). As far as appetizers, I’ve only tried the yellowtail collar and miso black cod. They’re both very good but I’d have to say the miso black cod is one of the best appetizers I’ve ever had at a sushi restaurant. It has a kind of sweet and tangy flavor and the fish just melts in your mouth. The final thing and one of the things that I’d say puts this establishment in front of their competition is that you always get a hello from the owners Gina and Justin. Every time I’ve been there they have come around to say hi and to make sure your experience has been great. It really shows you the dedication they put into their business. Hard to find any cons for this place other than its a little far from where I live so I can’t venture out there as many times as I’d like haha. For anyone looking for great sushi I’d definitely recommend this one for reasons listed above!

Shiawase is absolutely my favorite sushi restaurant in Dallas!!! The service is always on point and the owner Gina& Justin are super sweet and attentive! I love coming here for fresh sushi and sashimi! They only serve the freshest ingredients which makes me want to come back for more! My favorites are salsa dance, spicy scallop roll, fatty salmon sushi, miso black cod and assorted tempura! Some of the other popular rolls are ahi tuna tower, baked rolls, red mountain, etc. You really can’t go wrong with anything at Shiawase. The portions are huge especially the specialty rolls! I’d suggest to come with friends and family so you get to try different yummy rolls! This place is perfect for dates, special occasions, and family get together! Definitely a 5 stars sushi restaurant for the price and amazing quality!

Really good sushi! Huge menu! The manager warned us that the rolls are much larger than most restaurants and he was right! We ordered 3 rolls and were dying half way through the 2nd one. There weren’t more pieces, like most restaurants do when they say«larger rolls», but the actual roll itself was super sized. The pinky promise roll was ok but not amazing. The shiwase roll was pretty good and the red mountain roll was really good. The manager was pretty much our server and he had great suggestions and was very helpful. I will definitely come back!

This is one of our family favorites! I can’t give it a 5 star because I do think it’s a tad pricey when compared to its competitors, but we’ve never been disappointed with the food… and we’ve tried a lot of it. Were arent roll fans so I can’t comment on that but nigiri is spot on. Bento, noodles, apps — all great! It’s hard to describe the atmosphere… it’s a cross between a diner and a more upscale place. Service is great from the greeting to the goodbye. Great for families and large groups can be accommodated too.

Shiawasi is what you will be greeted with loudly as you enter the doors and you will be greeted by nearly all of the employees. Lots going on here. This sushi restaurant is gigantic inside. I felt like I was in Vegas with all the sparkle décor inside. I have coworkers that LOVE this place. If you prefer large Texas sized rolls with lots of rice and lots of crab salad you will not be disappointed. The tuna tower is MASSIVE. My husband and I couldn’t finish it. The rolls are on the high priced end but they are double the size you will find at other establishments. The tuna tower and sushi roll I had was fine and again many people sing Shiawase parishes. I just prefer smaller portions so I can try more variety opposed to being full after one roll. Kid tip: the kid’s meal comes in a cute little bear dish that has multiple layers. The kid’s meal is also on the smaller size. My 8 year old was still hungry after his dinner.

It’s true what the waiters say — the portions are generous. My family and I rarely have leftovers to take home but after splitting a salmon tower, dinner bento, and just two rolls we had about 5 – 6 pieces that we just couldn’t finish! The salmon tower and eel/shrimp rolls were fresh, tasty, and beautifully made. I will say it was a bit frustrating taking all the little pieces of red radish off the rolls but that’s minor. The standout for me, surprisingly, was the dinner bento! Huge portion of chicken and salmon teriyaki on a bed of grilled veggies(you can choose 2 from a few chicken, beef, and fish options), salad and soup, and the best tempura and croquette combo I’ve had! The veggies, shrimp, and crab puff were lightly fried, not too oily, but still warm and so yummy. Loved the small side of pickles as well. Service is friendly and prompt and I loved the oranges at the end of the meal. The atmosphere is lively and they were packed, but it doesn’t feel crowded. The only comment I do have is it did get a bit smoky/oily but honestly most of the time I was so focused on the food that I barely noticed. My family lives in McKinney and I can definitely confirm after this second visit that Shiawase is the best we have in the area!

Great place to meet up with friends after a long day at work! The staff is very accommodating. The atmosphere is very nice and the restaurant is very clean. The rolls are huge! It’s difficult to place the entire roll in your mouth so you may have to drop the chop sticks and pick up the roll! Not complaining. They are just large rolls and they are not chin-zee on the fish. That’s always a plus. I requested fresh wasabi rather then powdered wasabi. I also requested ponzu sauce since soy sauce is so salty. Both were supplied but only a very small amount. The food is rather pricey but when your having such a great time with friends who cares! I will be returning just to sample more of the items on the menu!

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Shiawase, why do you keep toying with my heart? Perhaps I’ve been put under your spell and have been too enamored with you since your glory days at Densetsu, but I can no longer turn a blind eye. For my past two visits, service has been subpar at best, horrendous at worst. During the first visit, the waiter completely forgot to put in the order of one person in the dinner party while everyone else’s food had come out. Initially, we thought food prep might have taken longer for that dish than the others, but when you’ve been waiting 15 – 20 minutes extra, you start wondering… What was the most upsetting was the nonchalance of the waiter who never really apologized for the mishap. Only when the manager asked about our experience did she profusely apologize for the service. While it did slightly ameliorate the situation, the seed had been planted of the lacking service(–2 stars) During the second visit, it took about 5 – 10 minutes until our waiter even came to the table to greet us. After that initial meeting, our waiter went MIA. It took probably another 10 minutes until a second waiter approached us, apologizing as our original waiter was now training new staff. What? The restaurant was relatively empty too, so I don’t understand how the staff could be so unattentive. By this point, I was frustrated by the lack of communication and the wait.(–1 star) Food still tastes good, but the service has really soured my opinion of the restaurant, especially if I’m taking toll roads and making the extra effort to drive to Allen. There are several Japanese sushi roll options that are just as tasty without the atrocious service, so I’m not sure how likely it is that I’ll venture out here again. I’m sorry, Shiawase, but there’s only so much heartbreak a girl can take.

Have come here like 4?, maybe 5 times. Since I’m in Frisco, it’s a little bit of a haul now… but I LOVE their menu. It’s definitely pricier, so I can’t make this a weekly go(wish I could) but I always enjoy it when I go. Fish is super fresh, I love their seaweed salad and their rolls are also awesome. They also do a lovely job on presentation. Service has been mostly great, could do with a couple more quality checks once the food comes. Always quick to seat you and thank you for coming. One of the best places for sushi in the area that I have found… don’t let the plaza fool you :)

This is owned by the same people who had Densetsu. I was sad the alst time I went to Densetsu and I noticed the quality had changed in their sushi at Densetsu. Then I went Unilocaling for new restaurants in the Allen area and I found Shiawase and people were commenting that it was opened by the previous owners of Densetsu, I was ecstatic ! Not only was it going to be awesome, but it’s so close to my new house. The atmosphere is beautiful since it’s a lot bigger than the old place. And they can accomodate more tables, therefore it’s less waiting. Ok so now for the review. They have some of the old stuff from Densetsu, but they also added some new rolls on the menu. Just in general, these rolls are huge! Even the regular salmon or tuna rolls are huge. They aren’t stingy with their fish either. Some other places have huge rolls but it’s only because they put a lot of «filler» rice. My husband and I ordered the scallop roll(the best I’ve had in Dallas), the salmon roll, and the Happy Tuna Tower(which is super gigantic). Everything was flavorful and the fish was fresh. It doesn’t seem like a lot, but we couldn’t finish everything and we had to take the tower to go. And we usually have the whole table full of sushi with just us two. We’ll usually order at least one specialty roll, but we knew we couldn’t finish. The fashion walk roll or something like that is a good one to order btw. The only reason for the 4 stars, is that there was a significant delay in getting our food. The kitchen was backed up and regardless of how busy it seems, we’ve never had to wait very long for our food here and that day it was at least 30 minutes. They did offer us some complimentary miso soup for waiting so that was nice. The table next to us had complained and they received a complimentary roll on the house. So at least they know how to accomodate their customers when they have a boo boo. But overall, it’s still an awesome place and we won’t stop coming.

Densetsu has been my favorite place to get sushi for a while now but Shiawase has won my heart over after today’s meal. The two restaurants are pretty similar in terms of menu but they do have a few more items here that Densetsu doesn’t. As for the atmosphere, the restaurant is larger and nicer than Densetsu and they play better music. The service here is great as well with very attentive and friendly waiters/waitresses. Mu husband and I have pretty big appetites and are used to getting at least 4 – 5 rolls at other restaurants but decided to stick to just 3 since Densetsu rolls are pretty big. For us two, 3 rolls was definitely too much and we had to take a small to-go box home. We ordered the Superman Burrito, Fashion Show and Red Mountain. Red Mountain was definitely my favorite, very flavorful and fresh. The Superman Burrito was something different than the usual rolls but a little underwhelming for me, Sure it was fresh but other than that, it was pretty plain and didn’t leave any lasting impressions. As for the Fashion Show, it was pretty and serves well for posting pictures of Instagram or Unilocal but nothing special either. The sashimi on top were all fresh but nothing amazing other than its looks. I definitely look forward to coming back to try their Salmon Belly and their other rolls. We left a little too full this time to try any dessert but I plan on getting less rolls next time so I can try their tempura ice cream,

I love this place, it is probably one of my most favorite sushi places in the Dallas area(even though it’s in Allen). After being greeted at the door you are shortly seated and if it happens to be a busy day they have a comfy lounge couch near the entrance to wait at until you are seated. This restaurant is beautiful and a lot larger than Densentsu(same owner). The servers are very attentive and kind. Fashion Show Roll: if you love to take pictures and Instagram this is THE roll for you, it is a California roll topped with sashimi and various seafood such as salmon, tamago, eel, scallops etc, rolled up into a pretty flower on each piece of the roll, the sashimi it is topped with isn’t just one piece is sashimi it’s between 2 – 3 and very filling! Happy Salmon Tower: if you love salmon, this tower is amazingggggg, they put a ton of salmon and crab meat and the sauces compliment it perfectly, I’ve had many salmon towers but they just do it so well at Shiawase! I highly recommend this to everyone, plus they mix it table side. Assorted tempura: very filling and a great appetizer: includes two shrimps, pumpkin, onion, asparagus, sweet potato, and mushrooms. Salmon belly sushi: AMAZING, worth the $ 6 for two pieces, the salon toro was so buttery my mouth waters while I’m typing this review at the thought of it. All in all I love this place, the service is awesome, the food is a bit on the more expensive side but the portions are large and worth it. I live about 25 minutes(tollway) away but I would drive here every weekend if I could just eat their amazing Japanese cuisine, definitely swing by here if you’re in the area(or even it you’re not) you won’t be disappointed.
